Ted Lasso (2020– )

Comedy isn't what makes this series great
11 March 2023
It would be wrong to focus on the over the top characters portrayed in this series; the exuberant coach, the pompous superstar, the angry veteran, the bubbly influencer, but what makes this show incredible is the depth the actors lend their characters in their daily grind. Jason thoroughly sells the coach with the irrepressible enthusiasm for life, despite that same character trait creating his personal traumas. I have not laughed so hard, nor wept so openly. This is quality entertainment, if this series does not touch your heart, you should examine whether you have one. Quality thru and thru.

The Meg (2018)

A shark show like no other...
4 November 2018
I want to seriously know how this movie was rated as high as it was and it was rated a 5.9. That was 120 minutes I will never get back again; I should sue the producers of that show for the cost of that time, plus the cost of the rental. When I can state with confidence that Jason Statham was the best actor in the entire show, it must be understood that I am not knocking Jason... The storyline is as pathetic and nonsensical as any movie I would be able to come up with while doing shrooms and quaaludes at the same time. I feel bad for the little girl, as she will be stained from having this movie on the list of things she did, but she was the second best actor in the movie. The only redemption would have been if everyone in the movie would have been eaten by the shark - in the opening scene. Roll the credits. Save us all.

Deadpool 2 (2018)

A rare case where the sequel exceeds the original
10 June 2018
I was hesitant to see the second Deadpool because usually the movie series are just trying to pull in a few more bucks with minimal effort but in this case, I will summarize by saying I have not laughed that hard, or been that entertained in a long, long time. I just enjoyed this movie. I cried from laughing and I cried because there were parts that touched my heart. Every actor in this movie did well in their part, and while some weren't played into the story line as well as they could have been, overall, it was a plausible, good story. Favorite part? The air drop to intercept the convoy. Yeah, that is dark humor. I will watch the movie again.

The Master (2012)

I feel as though I am one of the cause
6 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I love Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and appreciate most of the other recognizable actor s in this film. This film is too long, too boring, and meanders like a mid-western river. I kept waiting and waiting for the story line to pick up, but it was at it's peak on the floor. Amy Adams played a great antagonist, but her role was stunted. Joaquin Pheonix did well to play an alcoholic with a few cards shy of a deck, but hasn't everyone played that role well? Hoffman was not so disappointing as his material was just not that good. This was not a story line worth making into a movie. I wrote a better ending walking out of the movie theater. After the master proclaims we all have our masters, Freddie bashes in his head with a white statuette. The antagonist returns to the room to find the new master in the chair and she smiles. To heap any platitudes on this movie is to become one with the cause. Stay home, save your money, clean your toilets.
