Showgirls (1995)
Nomi's Exaggerations!
I've seen this movie or 50 times and it keeps getting funnier every time I view it. I love how exaggerated all of Nomi's movements are. Remember the part at the beginning when Molly takes Nomi under her wing? Why is Nomi so damn violent with the ketchup and her coke? She practially throws her food at Molly. I also love the part at "versais," Versace, where Nomi does a tapdance after buying that hideous dress. It never fails to make me laugh! What about the part where Nomi busts into the cheetah's dressing room and violently rips her dresses off of the hanger. There was no reason to leave in such a bad mood. She had just gotten the job of her dreams. I also love the club scene where Nomi dances seductively with the dancer dude and then kicks him in the nuts and has a Sh(t eating smile on her face. What was that all about?
Hostage (2005)
Horrible
This has to be one of the worst hostage movies I've ever seen. Do yourself a favor and rent the first Die Hard. Luckily I didn't go to the theatre and waste twelve bucks to see this piece of cr*p movie. You really don't care for any of the characters and the story line is all over the place. Why do the movie companies keep churning out crap*y action movies? I like Bruce Willis and I think that he's a great action star, but this movie does nothing for him. There are so many clichés and there's no real character development. There were a couple scenes that were totally ridiculous, even for an action thriller. Miramax usually produces "edgy" movies, but this was nothing but a churned out cliché of boredom. Skip it.
Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)
Pee Wee's Weird Behavior
Did anyone else think that Pee Wee elluded to being gay? He wasn't attracted to Dottie, and he didn't try to make the moves on Simone (when she was clearly interested.) When he's in the car with Mickey, and he's dressed like a woman, he starts to act giddy. He seemed very at ease in a dress and he even looked like a woman. You'll notice that Mickey stares at Pee Wee's leg, while Pee Wee is giggling like a schoolgirl. There were a ton of homosexual undertones, but I can understand why they couldn't discuss it (it was made for children,) and I'm sure they didn't want to upset parents.) I love this movie, and I love how certain elements are hidden for the viewer's amusement.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Grandpa Joe Was A Fraud
I found it very suspicious that Grandpa Joe was bed-bound, yet he could sing and dance after Charlie announced that he found the golden ticket. Charlie should have brought his mom to the chocolate factory. That poor woman had to wait on those grandparents hand and foot. If Grandpa joe could sing and dance, he definitely could have helped the mom with her chores. Charlie was a selfish little brat for inviting grandpa joe and neglecting his mother. Just goes to show that even little angel, Charlie, thought that a woman belonged in the home. If I were Mrs. Bucket, I never would have forgiven charlie for the choice he made, and I always would have despised grandpa joe.
Robin Hood (1973)
Hiss Was The Best Part Of The Movie
The clever little snake, Hiss, was the best part of the movie. He plays Prince John's sidekick and he is absolutely hilarious. I grew up watching this movie and always had a soft spot for hiss. I wonder where I could find hiss merchandise? If anyone knows, let me know! I'm curious to know if there are any other "hiss fans" out there. He is probably the funniest cartoon character that I have ever encountered. As far as the other characters go, some of them are corny and boring. The movie itself is really good, and teaches wonderful values. The dialog is outdated because it was made in the early thirties, but it still pertains to world events (stealing from the rich to help the poor.)
Who's That Girl (1987)
This Movie Is Horrible
The first time I watched this movie I was ten years old. I thought it was bad then, and at that age I had no cinematic taste whatsoever. I watched this movie on Cinemax about 3 days ago and was reminded why I hated the movie in the first place. Madonna's character, Nikki, is annoying and obnoxious. There's no way that the main character would ever fall in love with her. The jokes were corny and the dialogue was worse than a t.v. soap opera!! I'm glad that I didn't see this movie at the theatre, or rent it. I feel bad for my parents who had to endure watching it with me! Madonna is not necessarily a bad actress, but in this role she is portrayed as a complete idiot.
