#1 of 1001 movies you must see before you die
14 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The movie opens with a Scientific Congress in which Professor Barbenfouillis (played by Méliès himself) tries to convince his colleagues to take part in a trip to explore the moon. Once his plan is accepted, the expedition is organized and the scientists are sent to the moon on a space ship. The missile-like ship lands right in the eye of the moon, which is represented as an anthropomorphic being. Once on the surface, the scientists soon meet the hostile inhabitants, the Selenites, who take them to their King. After discovering that the enemies easily disappear in a cloud of smoke with the simple touch of an umbrella, the French men manage to escape and return to Earth. They fall into the ocean and explore the abyss until they are finally rescued and honored in Paris as heroes.

I think the movie is great, for the year that was made and considered the first sci-fi film ever, the movie deserves the spot in the list. It was amazing, but at the same time a bit long. But it's worth watching because of the visuals, story, and the camera tricks.

This is the best movie of 2020 yet
1 March 2020
Elizabeth Moss should be in every movie ever made. Period.

I mean, the movie has some flaws but lizzie moss steals the freaking movie, she and everybody in the cast is perfect. The plot was interesting and very well executed, the directing and dialogue was great and is a must watch from 2020 and by far is the best movie of the year (yet).

Great start for Tarkovsky.
16 February 2020
The graduation film by legendary Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky was a good start for the director. The film features the two main characters, Sasha and Sergey, Sasha is a 7 year old boy who is learning to play the violin and Sergey is a worker who is doing a job on the street of Sasha's house.

This film didn't touch me but it makes you feel bad about how the kids treat Sasha but that would be the reason why he meets Sergey; the film's cinematography is terrific and Tarkovsky shows us some beautiful shots.

If you are curious about who this director was, this film is the right one to start watching his filmography.

Dissapointed.

I don't even know where to start, I found this movie boring, tedious, and a bit of a waste of time. I don't think it's worse than Suicide Squad (2016) but I don't see it as an improvement either. None of the jokes were funny, and believe me there were a lot of jokes.

A worthy continuation of Kubrick's masterpiece.
14 February 2020
Let's start out clearer than water, this isn't a Kubrick level movie but it's worth watching. The first act was mehh, the second was pretty good and interesting and the third blew my mind. The only thing I didn't like about the film were the actors who would "replace" Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall, I didn't buy a word they said and I thought they were horrible.

Rebecca Fergurson is amazing as the villain, and I think it's her best role since the Mission Impossible saga. Ewan McGregor was also very good, but I think Kyliegh Curran steals the show with his incredible performance as Abra Stone. The other vampire cult actors were good, but there is not much more to say, there are references to Kubrick that were excellent and others that were not.

But in conclusion this is a good film with great cast and worth seeing to conclude with The Shining (1980) by Stanley Kubrick.

Stanley Kubrick ladies and gentlemen.
11 February 2020
This is the best (anti)war movie of all time, and also has one of the best endings of all time. Stanley made this masterpiece at 28 years old. My only complain is that is wasn't long enough.

Interesting choice on my part to watch this at 1:00am.

That was awesome

I've never seen before a documentary about any celeb or what's his/her life behind the cameras, but this was pretty wild. Taylor Swift has had to go through a lot to get to where she is right now, it's pretty well directed and i liked the flashbacks when she was a kiddo.

I wished it was longer because the got me at the very first moment.

Little Women (2019)
7/10
Great movie but not for me
5 February 2020
NOTE: This review will be based on this film in general, I did not read Louisa May Alcott's novel or the other adaptations of the novel.

Little Women is a 2019 film adapted and directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird). The film is based on Louisa May Alcott's famous 1868 novel Little Women. Little Women is the first book in Louisa May Alcott's Little Women series. The story revolves around the lives of four sisters growing up during and after the Civil War. With their father off fighting the war, the girls face the hardships and constraints of poverty and social expectations.

My first impression of the film is that it is a bit slow, but not boring at all. The vast majority of the scenes are important in the film, if not all of them. Since I didn't read the novel I can't compare what I adapted from the book and what I didn't adapt to, or if they lacked important scenes. I have to say that sometimes I got a little confused when it was a flashback and when it was present, but as the film progresses you realize that when there are more blue dresses it is present and more red is a flashback.

The acting is superb, each of the cast is incredible, I love with my heart to Saoirse Ronan and see him with Timothée Chalamet back gave me happiness, their facial expressions, the way they speak, their accents, everything is perfect. Florence Pugh had one of her best years with Midsommar and now this film, and I have to say she is one of the best actresses around today. Laura Dern is obviously perfect as always and I hope she wins with Marriage Story. Meryl Streep was like Meryl Streep and had very little time on screen (Bob Odenkirk appeared more than her and he appeared in the middle of the film).

The cinematography was spectacular, each shot was incredible, and there is not much more to say.

The production design and the dresses are what shine most in this movie, they make you feel like you're in the 19th century. The dress design is going to win at the next Oscars gala, they're spectacular, from the dresses that appear when they're the "girls" to the present, each one is beautiful.

The editing and soundtrack were not the best of the film, the soundtrack of Alexandre Desplat was very good, not bad at all, but I would have wanted it to be more present and was not the best of him at all, I still think that The Grand Hotel Budapest is his best yet. On the other hand, the editing was a bit weak, when they changed you to flashback or present sometimes you didn't notice and there are scenes that are a bit badly edited where you realize that the cut is a bit badly done, but who cares?

In conclusion it's a good film with good direction, good acting, soundtrack, cinematography, costume design, and production design but I feel it's not my kind of film.

Lars Von Trier thanks for the depression, love.
30 January 2020
A very relatable movie, the anxiety and depression are so well delivered in this movie. Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg are excellent in this movie, giving everything, Kiefer and the boy are great also. The visual effects are awesome and directing also, the script is also well done.

There are so many things to talk about this movie that I can't even start because i don't want but this is my rating from a first time watch.

Mirror (1975)

Poetic masterpiece
30 January 2020
The film is a masterpiece in itself. From photography to J.S. Bach's soundtrack. Tarkovsky. It's been two days since I saw the film and I still don't know what to say about it, it left me speechless. They were right to say that Andrei Tarkovsky was a genius, what I don't understand is why not many people know him, few people in the history of cinema were able to make masterpieces and he is one of them.

The Mirror left me speechless, the script, the direction, the acting, the soundtrack, everything left me speechless, everything shines in its full glory. I have to see her again to get a stronger feeling because she deserves it.

What is art? Why does man exist? Where do we come from? What are we? This film makes you question your whole life, it may seem very relational or not but something makes you feel the film, in a good way.

The Mirror is the closest thing I've ever seen to art. This is my first-look rating.

I just feel like there's something outside of normal life. Outside of teachers, breakups, girlfriends. Like, right out there, like outside.
29 January 2020
The film is set in the world of American skateboarders, but it is not a film about them. It follows the story of Alex, a teenage skater who does his best to hide his guilt in the death of a guard, whom he killed by accident.

In my opinion, I liked the film because Gus Van Sant successfully manages to make us see how a teenager's loss of innocence and judgment is triggered by an event that cannot be shared with anyone. The script was very good and each line makes you think; the cinematography was excellent but in the editing I was annoyed that they put in quite long scenes and in part it became tedious but in general it was quite good.

Love (II) (2015)

Could've been easily a two part movie.
27 January 2020
Gaspar Noé is such an interesting filmmaker, you can hate him all you want but you can't deny his vision has always been amazing. Love (2015) is such a unique movie like i've never seen before, the actor who plays Murphy is great but my only problem was with the actor who plays Electra, I don't know if it's because of his accent but I don't felt too much with her, the actor who plays Omi was good but I wished it was more of her.

The story is interesting but I would've loved that it were more complex, this could've been easily a two part movie like Nymphomaniac. Anyway, another great film by Gaspar Noé.

Funny way of representing what is considered one of the most ingenious robberies in the history of Argentina.
19 January 2020
Francella and Peretti have such good chemistry that it makes the film hilarious and enjoyable. The other actors who are part of the group are good. The direction and script are good but it's not a big deal, it's based on real events and basically you have to thank the joints, apart from most of the dialogue being jokes or curses.

In conclusion, it's a good movie with good actors and it's good to hang out with.

"Shaun of the Dead" a really funny movie but not everything, some of the jokes were a bit forced. Anyways, Simon and Nick have a great chemistry and is what makes this movie great. Edwar Wright first "masterpiece"...?

11 January 2020
This movie isn't a 10 but neither a 1, it's awesome but in the third act they kind of rushed the things.

Amy Adams stills the best actress working today and the directing is good. I liked that they didn't overused the CGI and the ships were incredible!

Highly recommended!
