Evil Eye (2020)
Not Horror
For those of us who expected a horror film, this was disappointing. It felt more like what you'd expect to see on Lifetime, NOT Blumhouse. The acting was really well done and I can't wait to see what the actors do in the future. As it is, this was just another rehashed idea full of cliches that had potential to be more but fell flat.
The Shed (2019)
Maybe not a 10 but definitely not a 4.4
This was not a perfect movie but it is entertaining and it's unique. I read the reviews on here prior to watching this film and had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. It has an 80s throw back feel to it yet still has a fresh spin to it.
Treehouse (2014)
Had no expectations
I had no idea what this film was about but my daughter liked the title. I rarely write reviews but I always read them before and after a movie. I feel like this movie doesn't deserve all of the negative reviews. It was fun to watch and had I gone by the reviews, I would have missed 101 minutes of entertainment. It wasn't complicated and there were flaws but you can overlook them if you're not expecting an Oscar contender.
Jacob's Ladder (2019)
Watch it like it's not a remake
I don't usually do reviews but there were way too many 1-2 ratings and the movie was certainly not that bad. Is it the original? No. It is worth watching? Yes. Don't compare it to the original, just watch and enjoy. The acting was really well done.
Starfish (2018)
Pointless and painful waste of time.
It is abnormal for me to write a review but I don't want anyone else using even five minutes of their time watching this. The vibe of the film reminds me of a person I went to school with who felt she was intellectually superior and only wanted to discuss her future novella series focusing on inverted metaphors. Yes, that boring and pretentious. Watching a bored character trying to cope with her boredom and purpose on screen is mind numbing. This was the most difficult film to watch to the end that I have ever seen.
We Go On (2016)
Wow
I don't usually write reviews on films where I agree with reviews already posted. This one is different. I am a horror junkie and usually compare films with other films I've seen. The idea for this film is unique and well done. The budget was low but the quality was excellent. The actors did a great job and the plot was intelligent and creepy. The gore was almost obsolete but the scene involving it, alongside the psychological issues, was stellar. It was an accident I happened upon this one but I encourage others to watch it. For those of us who are seasoned horror fans, this is a breath of fresh air from the norm. Seeking for answers sometimes opens doors to things we never thought. I liked that about this film. It isn't slow, in my opinion, as other reviews mentioned.
Lord of the Vampires (2002)
I'm not sure how to rate this movie
This is one of those movies that is so bad it can be entertaining. You need to be in the mood but if you like to see terrible acting, bad makeup, and uncomfortable sex scenes, you will enjoy this film. The lead vampire is ridiculous. His makeup and hair, along with his forced version of a dark and sultry voice, was hilarious. He looked like he was wearing bondage gear he bought off Wish. The dialogue was hilarious with the actors delivering lines like they were reading a pharmaceutical insert. AND those sex scenes....... everyone appeared bored and sloppy like androids trying to be seductive but having no idea what they were doing. I'm giving this film a 5 because if I wanted super bad full of laughs, I'd say a 10. If I was looking for a vampire flick that was not a total waste of time, I'll give it a 1.
Unreel: A Horror Anthology Film (2018)
Spend an hour doing something else
As a huge fan of low budget horror anthologies, I was really disappointed in this one. It failed to connect the dots on so many levels. If you like to fall asleep watching movies you don't care if you see the ending, this one is for you.
