Frustrating that stuff like this gets made.
3 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Don't go in that room, it's off limits" So she goes in that room. AND tries on the dead/ex wife's clothes. I thought it was a bit "Jane Eyre". But then you have the assistant turning up spookily like Mrs Danvers.

Rachel is a cleaner who barely does any cleaning, or does it half heartedly. Took the job without asking about pay, hours, duties/how does she get there (her boss had to give her a lift the first time she went) etc... Actually, all her snooping would give cleaners a bad name & stop anyone from ever hiring a cleaner.

Don't know whether the kid is supposed to be autistic/brainy/different, he never quite fits any mould other than generic "bit weird". She tells him not to do something then does it herself, no wonder he's confused.

I'm writing this review after one episode. Don't know if I can watch any more.

Update - on to episode 2, the man she's cleaning for invites her to a cocktail party, is this suddenly Pretty Woman? Yes, yes it is. He gives her a necklace & introduces her to business associates!

Update episode 2 : weird kid turns on a tank of something that produces fire/a flame, gets shouted at - and then apologised to!!! No "you shouldn't do this and this is why". So frustrating.

Update after watching it all in one night. It just doesn't make sense, nothing is explained - like how/why did he notice/target her in the first place? How could Simone find out so much about Rachel & her ex - but not about his boss, his family, his ex-wife? What happened to the stepson? What 'business' was he in/how did he make his money?

Interesting ending though.

Interesting but not necessarily exciting

I seemed to spend most of it shouting at Gemma Whelan (who I love & why I watched this) to get dressed! She spends a lot in time in a tiny shortie nightie, wellies & thick coat, at one time complaining that the (non existent) frost had got her sprouts! If it was that cold - and cold enough for her husband to wear a woolly hat in bed - she'd be wearing nice warm pyjamas. Don't know why that bugged me, but it did!

I felt that some parts of the story were unresolved - something would happen either without explaining why or how, or it wouldn't be discussed again. And then everything suddenly became all right again.

Based on some other reviews I guess it might have been edited for TV.

Interesting if you want a glimpse into 3 days in the lives of a dysfunctional family, but not if you want a "traditional" nice & tidy Hallmark-type Christmas movie.

Christmas Together (I) (2020 TV Movie)

Painful
2 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love Christmas & I love Christmas films, but wish I hadn't bothered. Every time I saw the 'Dad' I wanted to put 2 fingers through his glasses to see if there was glass in them. Everything and everyone in the town is too coincidental - Ava goes into a shop & they know exactly where she's staying & everything about the Dad & daughter. She's looking at an empty shop & the owner walks past who proceeds to tell her what she wants to happen to it - which matches Ava's plans exactly! The way everyone tries to force them together is a bit creepy. I'm not even sure I found out what happened to the dead wife, I might have nodded off for that bit.
