The Virginian: Jump-Up (1971)
Fake Virginian Episode
Very last MFS to be shown. Whether anymore episodes were made?? But, to have this be the end of 9 seasons, without the Virginian or Trampas, is disrespectful of those 9 years.
The Virginian: Wolf Track (1971)
Fake Virginian Episode
Remake of The Virginian, s2e24, Another's Footsteps & a few other episodes as well. Again Stewart Granger role is not uniting Shiloh, the Virginian or any of its values. It is very singularly acting with his back-up of Tate & Terry Wilson. Sad to see the series ending with these actors and not JD & DM.
The Virginian: The Regimental Line (1971)
Fake Virginian Episode
Stewart Granger is not the Virginian no matter how hard he tries to make us forget there was the Virginian. Guess he never read Owen Wister novel, The Virginian. And Terry Wilson is not Trampas. I liked him in Wagon Train, but not as Trampas.
The Virginian: Flight from Memory (1971)
Fake Virginian Episode
Stewart Granger is not the Virginian. They tried a remake of an original story. Robert Fuller portrays his role well and Burgess Merdith (original was Paul Winchell) but still a remake.
The Virginian: The Angus Killer (1971)
A Real Virginian Episode
This episode reveals why The Virginian was so loved. Real life issues, people with flaws. And the color is magnificent and not fake gold tinged picture.
The Virginian: The Legacy of Spencer Flats (1971)
A good episode reminding everyone of the real Virginian series!
It was good to see Bradford Dillman & Doug McClure in an episode again (s1e26). Ann Sothern, Carolyn Jones, Ed Buchanan made the episode fun and with Glen Larson directing sure made this a real Virginian episode. Thank you for that!
The Virginian: The Animal (1971)
Fake Virginian episode
Another episode to squeeze out JD, DM and the Granger's. It's obvious was written to promote Lee Majors for future roles. Universal Studio was stupid. I don't think could even take my grandkids there again. Univ. Studios obviously don't value good actors and are horrible business role models for my grandkids. A SUPERFICIAL business model where only greed matters.
The Virginian: Crooked Corner (1970)
This was a horrible episode of the Virginian
I am writing this, although has no influence in the outcome, since the series was canceled in 1971. I have been watching the Men of Shiloh since first episode as of this year. I am so ashamed of Universal Studios in how the studio ended an outstanding series as was the Virginian. Not just my opinion now but also 1962-1970 (Season 1-8). The Virginian was an outstanding series due to the writers, actors and those involved, especially Frank Price & Norman McDonnell.
But the Men of Shiloh is jaw dropping horrible & is so obvious they were squeezing out the Virginian and Trampas with Stewart Granger & Lee Majors. Just so disappointing how the studio tried to ruin 8 years of outstanding episodes. I would recommend to others to only watch those episodes with James Drury as the Virginian & Doug McClure as Trampas (except episode 9/2). Otherwise you are watching misfits that have no connection to the Virginian (or even Shiloh) series in any manner. So sad ended like this. Realize westerns were being squeezed out due to a younger generation and Vietnam. However, this was disrespect to over 8 years of those dedicating to keep the Virginian outstanding. So very sad.
