Happiest Season (2020)
At least it's queer
It's a lesbian Hallmark Christmas movie. Did it make much sense? No. Would I have preferred Abby with Riley? Yes. But still. At least we got something. So it's not perfect, but it's nice.
Uncharted (2022)
Fun
No Oscar material, that's for sure, but if you buy a tub of popcorn and switch off your brain for a few hours, you'll be very entertained. There was action, humour, cheesy Indiana Jones references and some prime eye-candy for everyone regardless of preferences.
The 100 (2014)
At the beginning it was good
I mean, it was an above-average TV series basically until they killed Lexa of. Then it went quickly downhill, and for a while was just meh. Now it's just plain weird and not really enjoyable to watch
Supergirl (2015)
Katie McGrath carries the show
I wouldn't say it is bad, but generally the plot/casting is rather average and unimaginative. But honestly, still a pretty good show to chill to after a hard week. I just have the feeling, as if miss McGrath carries more of the actual acting (nonverbal expressions) than her co-stars do (at least some of them are rather two-dimensional)
Bones (2005)
All good... Except for Booth
I really enjoyed this show, but Booth... I mean yeah, he is supposed to be the masculine macho counterpart to the female academic Dr.Brennan, got it (not sure, why it was necessary, but sure, let's roll with it), but his unprofessionalism physically hurts me. I mean I come from a mostly atheistic country, so my perspective may be stewed, but shouldn't a cop solve a crime regardless of his personal religious beliefs? Yes, he's catholic, we got it, he repeats it constantly, but that's no excuse to cross your heart in front of cardboard with a bloody human imprint instead of investigating it like a possible crime scene!!! (apparent he thought it was the Virgin Mary, not a corpse) Same with his ignorance and dismissal of the validity of other religious beliefs and sexuality. On one hand, in this aspect, he is a rather realistic portrayal of a lot of ignorant religious people. On the other hand I expected more from this show. Otherwise casting and storyline were perfect.
Friends (1994)
Remove the laughtracks and you'll cringe
Honestly, if you ignore the laughtracks in the background, you'll get the cringiest and stupidest thing I've ever heard (yes, I count Trump's speeches as well). Jokes are either really bad, or downright insulting/damaging (example: Joey complains his girlfriend hits him, gets told he's a wuss = toxic masculinity at its finest). Not sure how can anyone enjoy it, but then again, America is weird, I mean the Kardashians are somehow famous there...
Batwoman (2019)
Enjoyable superhero series
I am not entirely sure, what people's problem with this TV series is. In my opinion it's an enjoyable superhero flick with good casting. I mean sure, it has some plot holes, clichés, etc, but it's a frickin' superhero TV series. What did you expect? And if you hated Arrow, Supergirl and Flash, why even bother watching this and whining that you don't like it? I mean yes, it tackles more legal and ethical issues (mostly LGBT themed) than Arrow, but with a queer superhero that should be expected. And Kate being a lesbian (which she is in the comics as well, for those who don't know) doesn't mean she is against men either. It just means she doesn't want to sleep with any of them for god's sake. So I'd appreciate if all the people (majority of them male) who feel personally attacked, that a hot woman on their TV screen isn't heterosexual, would just switch channels and not complain here after every episode. We get it, Batwoman is not your cup of tea, so go watch something else and stop whining.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Fun to watch, wasn't disappointed
No Oscar material, that's for sure, but a funny light-hearted female driven Action-Comedy (and from some of the reviews I have read I can't shake the feeling a lot of people expected Silence of the Lambs mixed with Mission Impossible with a bit of Conan the Barbarian thrown in for added masculinity), definitely no worse than the one with Diaz,Liu and Barrymore and I can honestly say I enjoyed this casting (especially K. Stewart) and plot much more.
And for those who use box office as proof of the movies poor quality: I am not sure you noticed, but the film has yet to be released in cinemas in most of Europe (click on the "release date" button, you'll see). For example in Germany it will come be released in cinemas on January 2. 2020, so you literally can't objectively compare it's first week profits to movies that have been released worldwide at the same time.
