"Barbershop", is a well written and well acted film starring Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer featured among an outstanding ensemble cast. I enjoyed this movie thoroughly. It was entertaining as well as message sending and thought provoking. I give it "two thumbs up"!!!!!

Glitter (2001)

A VERY UNDERRATED FILM.
3 September 2002
I personally feel that Ms Carey took a bad rap for this film. "Glitter" really isn't as bad as the critic's wrote in their reviews. Sure this movie was not of the caliber of an Oscar nominated film, but it was fairly well acted, and entertaining. I honestly feel had Jennifer Lopez been in the starring role as opposed to Mariah Carey, no one would have had a problem with the film. I gives kudos to the cast and crew of this film. A grossly underrated film.

Detroit 9000 (1973)

Fond, fond memories of Detroit 9000
14 August 2001
I would leave college early everyday just to find what Detroit street they would be filming at that particular day. It was an exciting time seeing such local personalities as Dick Purtan, Woody Willis, Laura Lee, Mike Lucci of the Detroit Lions, John Nichols, and the one and only Martha Jean "The Queen" Steinberg. This was a great time for me and for the city of Detroit. I have a copy of this film and watch it whenever I can. A must see movie for all Detroiters. A favorite of Quinton Tarrentino.

Simply the most outstanding Black film of it's time!!!
29 July 2001
"Stormy Weather" ranks in the top 10 of all Black films ever produced. This is a "must see" film. Lena Horne, Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, The Nicholas Brothers, and a host of Black stars of the 30's and 40's. This was a picture that was made during a time when the U.S. military was still segregated. It still shows African-Americans still wanting and willing to do their part for the war effort. Only Preminger's "Carmen Jones" surpasses "Stormy Weather" in quality and content.

SUPERB!!!!!!!!
19 June 2001
One of the greatest movies of all time!!!!!! No matter how many times I see this film, I still get the same joy out of it as I did when I was a child. Judy Garland will always be Dorothy Gale in my heart and in my mind.

Carmen: A Hip Hopera (2001 TV Movie)

My Review of Carmen: A Hip Hopera
11 May 2001
"Carmen: A Hip Hopera" , ranks with some of the "worst" movies ever made!!! Inadequate acting, and the waste of a talented director such as Mr. Robert Townsend. Bizet's "Carmen", and Preminger's "Carmen Jones" were excellent!!! The "third time is a charm", is not the case with "Carmen: A Hip Hopera!!!!! V.King
