See it in full color and as one.

First I want to say, I am not a Quentin fan. I went to Vol 1 because I like Hong Kong films. That was mildly entertaining but Australian audience I felt were shafted. Getting the black and white version when far more gory films have been screened in Australia.

Anyway back to the review of this volume.

The Bad bits: Bill (David C) slowed the film down with his talking. I sat there thinking 'just get to the point!' I thought for what he did to The Bride (Uma T) He wouldn't beat around the bush instead he talks on about other stuff rather then tell his motive first. Next the final fight between Bill and The Bride disappointing. I thought after the House of Blue Leaves the fight between her and Bill would top it. It doesn't.

The Good Parts: You get to find out who The Bride is. I won't say it anything more but the director makes this point well.

I suggest you see both films back to back because it would make a great film. Or wait for Quentin to release it as a single film also track down it the color version if you want to see the blood in full glory father then dumbed down for the censors.

Part two of what now is known as a triology
11 October 2003
The Matrix is now considered a classic sci-fi film. Due to it's ground breaking SFX, awesome script and deep substance. The Matrix Reloaded however so far seems to be a SFX movie. When I saw it, I thought that The Matrix SFX were bad in comparision. Now I admit that not much philospical/religions like stuff is in this movie. The directors show us more of a puzzle then ask "what is reality?" The biggest reason why some ppl have given this film bad reviews is because of two things 1. High Expectations 2. Joel Silver for pushing those high expectations beyond reasoning.

I am waiting for the third film to see if that 14 minute sequence is the most complex sequence ever put on film is true or not.

But I beg audiences to save your judgement of this triology until you have seen the final film, then you can really know wether to give this film a thumbs down or up. I know I will.

The Suburbans (1999)
A comedy that never reached it's potential
11 October 2003
I admit it, I saw this film only because of Jennifer Love Hewitt. My heart raced when I saw her hike up her skirt to show off her tatoos. Why you ask? because not only did I see a very beautiful body but it was the highlight of a movie that I wished performed better. Perhaps with better writers or actors like Chris Rock, Mike Myers who improv could have breathed some life into this flat film. 2 stars out of five.

Akira (1988)
The Tip of the Iceberg
11 October 2003
Thank You Katsuhiro Otomo for opening my eyes to the wonderful world of Anime. Akira was the first anime I ever watched, though I was young at the time. The spectacular animation blew me away.

Akira is what I now call an Onion film. Not because it makes you cry but every time you watch it you understand more of the complex storyline and characters. Now to address the DVD problem Only in Australia do you get the original dubbed English dialogue which if you have watched Akira you know the classic lines. But in the US that DVD has more features. I was disappointed in the way the "new americian" dialogue over simplified the old dialogue. The mysterious and deep dialogue died. I shall give you an example. Here is a line that is not in the movie but demostrates how the new US dialogue is bad Old US dialogue dub "Akira is a highly powerful entinty" New US dialogue Dub "Akira is a very powerful guy"

Now back to Akira" The old US dialogue version" , after the first viewing of the movie you understand a little bit of Akira then I advise you to watch it several times over a year or two and delve deeper into the story. But if you find it confusing then walk away and pick up the Manga graphic novel of Akira and it will explain all.

Good Sequel
22 May 2001
This is a good sequel to the original film. The part that stands out in this that i loved is when Wayne and Cassandra's father fight. I have always loved martial arts movie spoofs and this is funny. From the impossible kicks to the poorly dubbed voice of Cassandra's father. All the other characters from the original reunite for this good sequel. It will have u in stiches.
