The Mick (2017)
Could've been a great show
This was such a "missed opportunity" show! I love this show because of its story, its characters, its casting and especially, Olsen. But the holes in the writing make it frustrating to watch. An example.... if the kids parents were under investigation, all assets would be frozen. There's no way their "black cards" would work. So basically....it makes me feel like the writers ignored a lot of common sense in order to make a story....and they are much better than that so that's why I'm mad. This should've been a great show! It should've been Olsens time to shine for more dramatic moments, because I think she can do both.
Skinamarink (2022)
A music video without the music.
Too much of everything of one idea. Darkness, silence, loooooooong shots of nothing. No build up, no character base...nothing. These people had a great idea...but it should have been a short or a music video. An hour an a half of this was ridiculous.
Ultimately, what's the point? To prove that no one has any patience anymore? Could be true, but this was pushing it. That the next generations need substance? Because if that was to goal, the result it yes, we need more than staring at a corner of a room or a carpeted floor for the entirety of a movie. You should never ask "is the movie on pause?"
This is more a "let's see all the app filters I bought for my camera!" than a movie.
I LOVE scary, weird, horror movies...I would play this movie to help put people to sleep.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Hauntingly beautiful
I am not a professional critic, so my reviews come from what the show/movie makes me feel.
I honestly don't understand the low ratings of this show. To me, every scene, every word, every carefully honed edit, was done with beauty, love, and professionalism to the project, in mind. Not a lot of TV shows/movies do that these days. This show made me feel every single human emotion that has probably ever been felt. I find myself thinking about its plot and characters the next day after watching it. Its a show I sometimes randomly think about when my mind wanders. That's a good TV show. One that sticks with you, always.
Slender Man (2018)
The trailer was better than the movie.
...would have been better as a music video...or a student film-short...or an educational "how-to" for mediocre-with-potential editing, great lighting and a "how-to" on making an awesome trailer to a horrible film. But other than that...was not done right as a movie.
AJ and the Queen: New York City (2020)
So far, not hating...
Is the writing great? No. Is it academy award winning acting? No. But is it adorable, laugh out loud funny at times and generally just a breath of fresh air? YES! So sit back, shut up and enjoy watching a show that peeks into a world worth watching.
