Damsel (2024)
Entertaining!
This was recommended by my likes on Netflix. I didn't even realize who the lead actor was until I started watching. Then I saw Ray Winstone whom I love. The beginning started like typical fantasy stories for young adults. But it turned interesting when I saw the ceremony after they married and the masks everyone was wearing. I knew then something bad was going to happen and I stared to pay attention. In the beginning, Elodie seemed like a weak character but she started surprising me by jumping over chasms, climbing crystal walls, etc. It was great seeing Robin Wright and she still looks so beautiful. The clothing was beautiful. I loved near the end when Elodie told those present at the wedding of the next sacrifice that if they wanted to live they should leave now and only the servants left. Lol. I enjoyed this heroine as she just got smarter and smarter. Very entertaining!
Surrounded (2023)
Totally surprised!
To be honest I didn't expect much. Just needed something to listen to while I work to my office. But once the stagecoach was stopped by the bad guys I was hooked. I was totally impressed with the actress who played Mo Washington. I honestly thought she was a male just by the way she moved and shot her gun. I love Jamie Bell so it was good to see him. I thought the ending was going to be predictable with the 2 of them going off to create havoc together after they seemed to bond with shared grief at one point. But it wasn't. She really seemed to have no hesitation when it came to killing. Will definitely recommend.
Girl (2020)
Worth watching
I was surprised by how good this movie was. I didn't expect much since I didn't know the lead actress. I was surprised to find out she was the teenage girl from Blended. The actress who played the lead did such a great job. I would watch again. Like the girl, I had watch to see how the story unfolds. Surprised to see Mickey Rourke in a B movie but his character was predictable. I was surprised that everyone kept telling the girl to leave town but she had to find out what was going on. I'm glad I watched this movie and would highly recommend to anyone. This girl is definitely a force worth reckoning with.
Night Sky (2022)
Very Entertaining!
I love the storyline. I love JK Simmons character. The suspense is great and was seriously surprised to see how some of the relationships form. The only fly in the ointment is all the Spanish speaking. I don't mind reading subtitles, and often watch foreign films, but it takes my concentration away from the action. Otherwise, will bear with it for the storyline.
Hustle (1975)
Watched out of boredom
I watched this movie as I was working and just needed some sound. However, I became hooked on the story line. Although it's about a prostitute that was found dead and how the father was dealing with it, I found I was also caught up in the relationship between Burt Reynolds character Phil and Catherine Deneuve's character Nicole. It took awhile for me to figure out that she wasn't his wife and was in fact his mistress. Although there was some cheesy acting and lines, I found I wanted to find out what happened. I was in tears when it looked like it was going to have a happy ending. Phil and Nicole were going to take a spur-of-the moment trip to San Francisco. Nicole was to meet Phil at the airport. On the way to the airport, Phil stops to get something at a convenience store. It get's robbed while he's there by a crook with a gun. He backed down and I thought perhaps he'd make it through, but he ended up chasing the guy and getting shot, dying. When Nicole saw his partner Louis coming towards her in the airport, she knew. I started bawling like a baby. I wanted that happy ending so much!
