Erik Balling did a great job from the beginning.
7 April 2023
"Vi som går køkkenvejen" from 1953 was Erik Balling's first film as a self-director. I actually think it is a shame, that his first fime as a self-director hasn't been shown on television, DVD, VHS and not even streaming (not yet at least).

The film tells a story about a manufactors (Ib Schønberg) daughter, the beautiful and sweet Helga (Birgitte Reimer), who is doing a bet with her friends. She either needs to work a year as a housekeeper without help from anyone, or she owes her boyfriend, Jørgen (Henrik Wiehe), a diamond ring, and right there, she'll show Jørgen, that she can stand on her own two feet.

Birgitte Reimer is known for many movies with Dirch Passer and Kjeld Petersen (Kellerdirk), in "Solstik" (1953) and "Vi er allesammen tossede" (1959). But it's the fewest so far, who has seen Birgitte Reimer in a sweet, charming and friendly role in one film, and that's her role as Helga in "Vi som går køkkenvejen".

The time I write this review (April 2023), "Vi som går køkkenvejen" has not been released in public streaming services yet. But fortunately, Nordisk Film is trying their hardest to get "Vi som går køkkenvejen" on their streaming service, and will hopefully be released at the end of 2023. But other than 2023, it could also be earliest released 2024, but unfortunately sooner 2027. But the film got released one time in Cinemateket in november 2022, which is where I saw it, and the film was absolutely fantastic.

Saga Studio's flop
7 April 2023
This film from 1962, "Lykkens musikanter", is said to be an 1½ hour long movie. However, for this movie, it feels like several more hours. To put it bluntly, the film is really tedious and repetitious, with all the containing "charming" music by Sven Gyldmark, who does a great job at making music to several danish classics.

The actors are playing really badly, almost like they dont trust them selves. They've got the wrong given roles, that they dont seem to like at all, and horrible to play those roles.

The direction of the film is also horribly done by Peer Guldbrandsen (who also did a huge flop at the danish disaster film, "Elefanter på loftet"). It seems like he didn't care at all about this film, just like "Elefanter på loftet", and that is a reason some of his movies are terrible.

The plot on this film is really confusing. Sometimes, they just put several more songs into the film, just to reach those 1½ hours, and that makes the movie plotless and boring.

All in all, this film will be on my recommandation list, for people who want to lose more and more brain cells and get headache. Trust me.

Desertøren (1971)

A young man's crazy life.
16 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The film "Desertøren" (title in Danish), is one of those movies with really unknown actors/actresses and unknown crew. The film stars Gert Günther, who was propably one of the only stars, who was actually famous. He was famous for his songs, but not really famous with his role in this movie.

The film is an Youth film, which kinda makes sense, when most of the stars are young teenagers. The film is also kind of a music-film, which completely makes sense, when the main character (Gert Günther) was a singer back then.

(SPOILERS!) The film is about a young man named Martin, who escapes from Military, and is then being searched by the police after escaping. Because of that, him and his Girlfriend (Birgitte Frigast) drives up to Sweden, so they never will find them. But then after some time in Sweden, he gets tired of being there, and decides to drive home with his girlfriend, and leaves each other. But then after some time, they meet each other again, and decides to drive up to her cottage(?).

Overall, the film is really messy, and kinda boring sometimes, and definetly has a lot of youth in it, and sometimes romantic scenes (which can be embarrasing to watch with someone!). But the good things about the film, is that it is not noisy or annoying, and i actually like the small songs sung by Gert Günther, and the film also has good acting in it, so if you find this movie for a cheap price, it could be worth watching.

Sweet and unforgetable film
9 April 2022
"Tre piger i Paris" is one of some other overlooked Danish films, but that dosen't matter!

This film is highly recommended for all of them, who are thinking about watching it. The film is funny, charming, suspenseful and beautiful.

The film is about three girls, who is travelling to Paris with a train. But then in the train, they meet two men, who then follows and show them a hotel they can rent. Then when the two guys leaves the hotel, the girls decides to take a look at the city, but then by accident, they let their luggages stay at the hotel, and they forget where and what hotel it was.
