The Baby: The Arrival (2022)
Quirky cool + great music!
Very interesting concept and I felt the casting was excellent!
The baby is adorable and the lead actress is very natural in portraying a funny & unique character . The writing is well done as you can already get a good sense of what many characters are like - a very lived in feeling like these characters already existed and we're just now getting a peek into their world.
Very cool first episode and I'm really looking forward to the rest of this season! I don't understand the other negative/low reviews - hopefully people give this show a fair chance.
Better Watch Out (2016)
Absolutely awful movie - please don't waste your time!
I was looking forward to seeing this for SO long and for a very long time the only thing I had to go off of was a brief description on the movie. There was no trailer for this for quite a long time, so naturally my anticipation built up over time which is probably partly to blame...
The idea was clever but the execution of the film was awful. I enjoyed Olivia DeJonge and Ed Oxenbould in The Visit so I thought this movie might be similarly entertaining but I was sadly mistaken. The acting is BAD by several characters but especially the lead boy, you know, the sociopath. However, I'm not sure if it's really the acting that is so bad or if it's simply down to terrible writing and poor character development...
All of the characters were incredibly unlikeable, the worst of the bunch of course being the lead sociopathic teen (Luke) played by Levi Miller. I haven't seen him in anything else so maybe it was just down to the awful script/poor character development? I just HATED watching this movie but kept soldering on and watched it in it's entirety in hope of it getting better and at least having a satisfying ending. However, it failed there too, by the end I was just hoping to see an amazing final scene of Olivia DeJong's character destroying Levi Miller's character - now THAT would have been a satisfying ending and could warrant possibly an increased score of 2/10 from me.
A.P. Bio (2018)
Quirky, intelligent, well-made TV - FINALLY !
Many intelligent reviewers have already stated a similar sentiment to what I'd like to share so I'll try and be brief.
This show is very well written, excellent quirky characters portrayed by great actors, quirky/unique comedy that is actually refreshingly original! I like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and I love The Mick but I've always disliked Glenn Howerton's character Dennis on IASIP so I didn't think I'd like this show but damn it is good!!
I think there must just be something inherently different in our human brains because I simply cannot comprehend those reviewers giving this show a 1 (or anything below a 7 actually). I can only assume it's due to strict religious beliefs, possibly a lack of appreciation for creativity...? I HATE simple, boring, dumbed down shows like Big Bang Theory, or utter trash like Two and a Half Men (just a couple examples of really basic lame programming from recent years. I am assuming reviewers who dislike this show love shows like that?? If so, then it makes sense that they can't understand/relate to/appreciate this intelligent and quirky humor. I just hope there's enough clever people watching and giving high ratings to keep shows like this that are truly well crafted on the air!!!
If you like this show and generally appreciate supremely well crafted television with unique vibrant characters, interesting plot lines, CREATIVITY, and no laugh track may I suggest a few others worth checking out:
- The Good Place
- The Mick
- iZombie
- Veronica Mars
- Curb Your Enthusiasm
- Seinfeld
- It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Murder by Numbers (2002)
Great movie plus the lovely Ryan Gosling!!
This is an excellent, suspenseful, murder-mystery movie. Not only was the plot full of suspense and intrigue but you get to see gorgeous Ryan Gosling for a couple hours, what's not to love! Also, Sandra Bullock is good in this movie - I've always been a fan of hers, (I just wish she hadn't decided to be in "The Lake House" which was horrible, but that's another story altogether). Obviously since there are thousands of other murder/horror movies out there, there are bound to be similarities between them, no need to bash this movie for having some similarities to at least a few that have already been made. Anyway, this is a great movie for those of you that actually enjoy "scary" movies, it's a little dark and twisted but overall a great movie!!!
Gilmore Girls (2000)
Life in a cozy 'historical' East Coast town isn't always 'steak and onions' ;)
Gilmore Girls is one of the funniest, most clever, sharp-witted, sarcastic and heart-warming television shows I've ever watched, (second only to my most favorite television show of all time, F*R*I*E*N*D*S). The quick pace and many pop-culture references can leave some viewers confused, but once you catch on to the ways of the Gilmores, you'll be hooked for life. Just some random comments, I recently (finally) began watching Season 6 and wow! It's one of my favorite seasons so far. I love the Luke-Lorelai thing and all the drama in the various episodes is (as always) exhilarating. The only thing I'm not so fond of is the surprising bad attitude and reckless actions Rory has suddenly 'adopted'. Unfortunately I don't find this very realistic and hope it's not just a way to stir up some more drama to keep the season going strong. All in all great season though and I can't wait for the next!!!

Smoke Signals (1998)
Award winning?!?!
The Review of Smoke Signals: I did not find the film (1) poignant in any way or (2) entertaining for entertainments sake. I found Smoke Signals to be rather uninspiring, there was a lot of hype, and not a lot of substance. The storyline is disjointed and the acting is well below average and unfortunately, the sad performances from the actors did nothing to propel the extremely weak plot. I found Sherman Alexie's story to be lackluster, trying to prove a point which is quite unclear. I wasn't sure if this was a comedy about two opposites thrown together (because there were very few humorous moments, this film certainly was not the side-splitter that reviews boast it to be) or if it was a drama about a man discovering who his father really was. Too many themes are attempted to be covered, leaving the viewer confused and uninterested. Unfortunately, because of the poor script and unskilled actors, this film was not moving or compelling at all, no emotion was evoked, except disdain for everyone involved in the making of this film. Additionally, the Native American accents sound incredibly bizarre to me and resemble a strange mix of Irish, Indian (from India) and American English dialects. In addition to the film's disjointed feel, many scenes felt rushed and contrived. The somewhat interesting dynamic and contrast between Victor and Thomas seemed to resolve itself just in time for the end of the film. Also, Thomas' fascination and appreciation for Victor's father, (as the father he never had) is hardly explored or discussed by either character. Conversely, the relationship between Suzy and Victor's father feels completely unbelievable and seems to work only as a means for Victor to better know his father, although I am never convinced that happens. Because of consistent plot holes, or rather underdevelopments, the audience must take great leaps of faith throughout the entire film, hardly any of which pay off.
