One Hour Photo (2002)
Too Long for Too Little
Sorry, but this one didn't make it for me. Robin Williams provides a compelling performance and is oddly peculiar (redundant for sure). His effort does not warrant the time for the movie. The movie tried to frighten us -- but didn't reach the level of Pacific Heights, where Michael Keaton was the neighbor from hell. Sometimes good people make bad movies.
Nurse Betty (2000)
Unusual to say the least... but a spellbinder for me
Nurse Betty was nothing that I expected and fascinated me from start to finish. Renee Zellweger was believable in an unbelievable role and the interplay between Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock put a new twist on a very old theme. If you can keep an open mind, have a taste for the unusual (to say the least) and can put up with a short but jolting scene of violence that is intended to jolt you this is quite worth watching. A special motion picture -- reading much about it before you see it can only detract.
Bait (2000)
Predictable - not really worth the time
Jamie Foxx is fun but this movie has been done before. The bad guy plays a "malkovichian" character from "In the Line of Fire". The cops will do anything to find the bad guy - and of course the good guy has two sets of bad guys and one set of cops after him - all the while he is just trying to turn over a new leaf...
