CHILLINGLY BRILLIANT, WE NEED MORE
11 March 2023
Elba and Serkis give outstanding performances, while the script provides an intense cat and mouse thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Cinematography is also beautiful, while the score provides a raw and stripped back approach to allow the acting, editing and script to do the work. Can be enjoyed by both newcomers to the Luther character and fans of the show alike. Ends on a cliffhanger that'll have you begging for more, and could potentially open up brand new ideas to the Luther character that'll have Bond shaking in his boots. Looking forward to seeing where they take this character next.

That '90s Show (2023– )

The return of sitcoms being funny
19 January 2023
This show was pretty good. Still getting used to the seasons only being 10 episodes when originally in this format there are between 20-24. Ever since the Big Bang theory ended the sitcom genre has kinda fallen off, but this was thoroughly enjoyable with not one stale joke anywhere. Not sure why so many people in these reviews are hating on it so much, the characters are just as likeable as the original cast and the show ended with me wanting to see so much more from this new cast. Also the jokes are pretty good too, I was pretty much laughing all the way through the show - count me invested for season 2, that is if Netflix decides to renew.

The Sandman (2022– )

Disappointed by the audience reviews
8 August 2022
This show is a wonderful masterpiece, perfectly cast, with a few welcome tweaks to the story that help adapt the story for the cinematic medium. Why everyone has such an issue with the casting choices or riot about the so-called "rant on LGBTQ influence" baffles me. I've read all of the graphic novels and can quite happily say I enjoyed every moment of this show. But for some people to argue about Death and what colour her skin should be? Come on, I mistakenly thought better from people this day and age, and especially from fans of the comic that in itself was very politically correct in it's own time. This show is everything I could have asked for in a comic adaptation; faithful while gently pushing the boundaries of the original story, in some ways massively IMPROVING on its original material. Although I could perhaps understand that new viewers and fans being introduced to the story's law and characters may find themselves a little lost from time to time, the show does well to keep the viewer hooked into the base storyline. Others have also explained that the show for them was just too slow, but isnt that what the Sandman has always been? It emphasised world-building more than action, pondered questions of the philosophical, rather than action action and more action everytime you turned a page. To have had a show that included more action than it did have would not have been a truly faithful adaptation, so I thank Neil Gaiman for giving us something so close to the worlds and stories we have loved before. I look forward to seeing what both new and familiar ideas they have to share with us next.

The Bubble (2022)

Genius and hilarious
1 April 2022
The Bubble leans heavily into social commentary, which is perfectly executed and reflects exactly what is so wrong about the movie industry. Not sure why it's not so highly rated, this film was an absolute blast from beginning to end, with excellent performances all round. Some plot points were a little two dimensional, but it's a comedy, not a film you submit to sundance.

BEST NOLAN FILM YET
30 August 2020
This is a movie that demands a second viewing. And a third. Maybe a fourth if you're up for it. The first time I watched it, the first half of the movie felt a little jarring, considering that this is Nolan's fastest-pace movie to date. But once you're strapped in, this film is like an upside down puzzle that, when complete, the complex narrative seemingly becomes quite simple. This movie is ground-breaking in it's own right, having personally never seen a fight sequence where the two opponents are fighting in two directions of time. He demonstrates technical mastery of the likes you have not ever seen. If this is confusing, Nolan explains this best. Would 110% recommend this for anyone looking for a brutally exciting and thought-provoking experience.

I found myself tearing up over a film that (on the surface) seemed rather average...
26 June 2020
I think when people see Will Ferrell on the casting list, they immediately think that it's going to be a laugh out loud movie, which I myself fell victim for. The film wasnt as funny as I had thought it would be, but instead found myself in tears at the end of the film. This is because this movie PERFECTLY represents what Eurovison is about, a proud cultural phenomenon that strives in diversity and community. This is a MUST SEE movie. The final song is beautiful, and the characters that are developed on screen become more lovable by the end of the film. There were also a few cameos too, of course there were going to be cameos! If you love Eurovision, you will fall in love with this!

You (2018–2024)

This show is unhealthy but it deserves to be loved
6 January 2020
This show has it all... Romance, mystery, murder, murder, and more murder. This show is very intelligently written, being able to make a deranged and creepy sociopath relatable or at the very least can be empathised by a modern audience, and this is scary. This show balances the idea of right and wrong on a tightrope whilst throwing narrative twists in the mix that could give M. Night Shyamalan a run for his money. This show can be terrifying and also very tense, perfect for late night television. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who has an obsession with Love Actually.

This movie did not need to be 3h 29m long...
6 January 2020
Yes, this movie was executed masterfully, with some scenes popping vividly onto the screen with it's realistic violence. However, this was supposed to be an immersive cinematic experience, but I found myself continuously looking at the time stamp on the bottom of the screen. It's run time could easily be cut down by an hour and it would still be too long. Scorsese is a genius director, but this movie wasn't his smartest...

Adam Driver's best performance yet
6 January 2020
Although this story can be seen as deeply depressing, it's themes and ideas about the powers of love is painfully present. I found myself confused by the contrasting emotions I had felt as this narrative unravelled, feeling the film as both heartwarming and heart-shatteringly sad. And this is good. Not everything is as black and white with love, like most of the classical romantic movies out there. It explores the balance of love and sacrifice, and it's masterful execution from it's cast of actors makes the film stand out like a saw thumb in this current movie climate. This film is one of the most accurate and faithful stories about love that I have ever seen.

Dracula (2020– )
8/10
Another hit for Sherlock fans
6 January 2020
Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat are back with another adaption of a literature classic, enticing audiences with a story of a man trapped in his world's expectations of evil. With incredibly intelligent writing, this show manages to terrify and even humour audiences in a three - part narrative full of mystery and horror. It is arguably the most faithful adaption, and also the most creative, with staggeringly good twists laced throughout. This show manages to unwrap the idea of Dracula and considers more logical assumptions to the legend, to the point where one might so call him a "human" by the end of the show.
