I Am Sam (2001)
Great Film!
I absolutely loved every minute of this movie. It had me from start to finish. Not to mention, it was the one of the only movies I've ever cried to. (The other one is Dancer in the Dark)
The acting in this movie is superb. Sean Penn does a phenomenal job playing his character. My favorite character in the movie, Rita, played by Michelle Pfeiffer is also great. I love her temper and the ways she lies. Lucy, played by Dakota Fanning, is very nice to watch. She gives an amazing child performance.
The music in the movie is all from the Beatles, which I though was pretty cool. I loved every song in the film, but my favorite was Strawberry Fields Forever. It really fit into the movie.
The scene is when Rita pushes over Sam's origami wall and cries out to him. I loved that scene. I strongly suggest this movie to any audience, except one who despises a melodrama.
Jibeuro (2002)
Good movie...
I instantly liked this movie. The whole movie, you see how mean the boy is to his grandmother, but at the end when he says sorry from the bus, all is forgiven. I truly thought it was good...
In the film, the boy is left to stay with his grandma, who is quite poor. He is always fussing and being spoiled. The grandma, it seems, never decides to scold him in any way. As he lives with her for a while, he realizes the family values he should take for granted. At the end, it's very sad when he says sorry. This left a very good impression on me... Fine acting as well... This movie made me think of many important lessons. The story, in general, is about how you should treat family, and everyone, with respect and appreciate what they do for you...
The Cheetah Girls (2003)
Decently good...
The Cheetah Girls, to most people, is considered a "bad" movie. For personal reasons, I gave it a 6 out of 10. The bad things: it was cheesy in places, badly acted, and obsessive over the smallest things. The good things: it was decently entertaining, fairly-plotted, and the characters were fun to watch.
The first character, played by Raven, is decent. She is way too obsessive about her music. Her acting was fair. One thing I hated about her was her stupid dog, Toto. The dog should have been thrown out. I felt like the movie was trying to make me feel sorry for this poor pooch that falls in this hole and must be rescued.
The second character is kind of annoying to me. She goes out and shops around for clothes with her mom's credit card, and then cries to make mommy stop yelling at her later. Her character is horribly acted by what's-her-face.
The third character doesn't really fit in. The producer's probably thought, "Okay, we can't be racist so we'll throw in a white girl". She's some kind of a dancer, but she doesn't know if she wants to leave the Cheetah Girls. Weird.
The last character... Well actually, I don't remember anything about her (other than her high-pitched singing, which got on my nerves at times).
I actually found this movie entertaining though. The songs were okay, and the choreography was good. I am going fairly easy on this film. The first time I saw it, it wasn't bad at all. The second time it aired on TV, I watched it again. It wasn't as good. Flawed but entertaining. The Cheetah Girls is one I would suggest to the younger generation...
