The Last of Us (2023)
Starts of strong, but nothing special.
The part with Sarah and the outbreak in the beginning of the episode was terrific. Just very well done with the build up and then the heartbreaking scene where Sarah passes away. It's all downhill from there.
When they find out Ellie is immune: Why didn't they go for the video game approach. Overpower them realistically. It's not believable at all that the AR dude didn't shoot them immediately when he got STABBED.
And then when pointing a gun straight at Joel's face, a generic flashback plays and he allows joel to grab him. Then Bella's acting becomes very weird. She gives this strange look. Very out of place.
When Tess finds out Ellie is infected Tess starts screaming almost, which is totally out of character for her, I was disappointed by the portrayal of Tess in the entire episode. And then it's like Bella Ramsey reads her lines out loud: "I'm not infected, this is three weeks old, nobody lasts more than a day". Meanwhile, Joel doesn't care.
I thought the part with Sarah and Tommy was great but the way they butchered this iconic scene just bugged me.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)
Disappointing mess
When this film was announced, I was very excited. I had just seen Knives Out, which I adored. Therefore, I watched Glass Onion right when it arrived on Netflix. "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined." This famous quote was almost entirely accurate. A Messy plot, a horrible third act, a lack of likable characters, some terrible acting by Kate Hudson and Kathryn Hahn. These bad aspects of the film where somehow almost compensated by some fun sets, good protagonists and exciting twists. But not quite. Overall, Glass Onion was a big disappointment, especially when compared to Knives Out.
The Batman (2022)
It was great! (for the most part)
I liked this Batman movie. Even though I kept comparing it to The Dark Knight in my head (which is unfair to begin with), this movie held up really good. The cinematography was great, acting by RP and supporting roles was good for the most part. I liked the way characters were introduced and how it felt like a crime detective but...
The ending felt rushed and not very well written. The water wasn't explained at all and was very underwhelming, the snipers who followed the riddler managed to do nothing at all and the riddler was pretty weak once he removed his mask. Paul Dano is not Heath Ledger of course but I was rather disappointed by his unmasked performance. The scene with Joker was pretty cringeworthy.
Overall I enjoyed myself with this movie but a lack of a good unmasked villain or well written ending keep me from giving it any higher then an 8/10.
The Last of Us (2013)
My favorite game of all time
Such an engaging story. The characters are so well written. The way they build up tension and then shock you gets me every time. The chemistry between Joel and Ellie is so fun.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Don't look up is terrible, I kind of enjoyed it.
I liked Leo, Timo and Jonah, they were kind of funny. I despised Ariana Grande however. The story is pretty outrageous and the directing is all over the place. In short, 6 out of 10.
Black Swan (2010)
Very good
But too spooky for me.
Not but for real it was really good. It gave me the feeling I had after watching Birdman! Or the unexpected virtue of ignorance.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Pretty good show!
It's a fun and engaging show. It kind of reminds me of Oldboy, but oldboy is a movie and better. I hated the VIPs and some plotholes annoyed me.
Dune (2021)
Dune made me buy the book dune
(spoilers i guess... but not really)
The movie is great. Cinematography and acting is very good. The atmosphere is really immersive. Scenes are intense and fun. Its a really cool setting and it made me really invested in the story. I'm really looking forward to experiencing the rest of the story and I hope Dennis V. Gets green light on making chapter II into a movie. I ordered the book the same night i watched the movie.
Go watch the movie.
Breaking Bad: Cat's in the Bag... (2008)
Very good second episode!
Some grim scenes in an overall strong episode! We really got to know the characters better.
Breaking Bad: Pilot (2008)
Brilliant Pilot
Flawless first episode to one of the best series of all time. I'm watching the show for the 4th time and writing a review after each episode. Really have nothing bad to say about this episode. Great introduction to some of the main characters. Really sets the tone for the rest of the season. Great stuff!
Game of Thrones (2011)
Winter is coming...
Review S1-S6 or why you should start watching the series.
I've just finished season 6. Not sure if I want to keep going because of the negative reviews on 7 and 8. But let me tell you about what i've seen. It's so great. The acting, the cinematography, its all top notch. And the storyline is really good. Most seasons it's just really great episodes with here and there an outstanding, magnificent episode. Sometimes even two or three in a row. These 6 seasons are a must-watch for anyone with ears and eyes.
Edit: Season 7 was really good either. Season 8 was a huge disappointment with loads of plotholes.
Better Call Saul (2015)
Such a good show!
After you've watched this show you will forget it for some time and then think back to it as an amazing memory. The story of chuck and jimmy, the return of some fine breaking bad characters, the situation with lalo. It's all truly amazing. Especially for people who love saul as a character. There is so much in this underrated series. This is a non-bias review although I am a huge breaking bad fan. Looking forwards to the next season. (hopefully vince doesn't pull a Game of Thrones type of ending)
Breaking Bad (2008)
So good you can tell the exact moment Saul became Hank
Best show i've ever seen. Best piece of cinema i've ever seen. You should watch it.
MARS: Inside SpaceX (2018)
Super exiting subject, not so exciting documentary
Although i am very interested in space technology, and i find spacex a super fascinating company in wasn't very amazed by this documentary. 6,3/10
Chernobyl (2019)
Almost Perfect
Almost perfect, the white-russian women scientist wasn't necessary. She was actually quite annoying and even more frustrating: She never existed. So Legasov was a hero by his own and didn't had to be stimulated by someone else. Bad writing. But nevertheless impressive stuff
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
watch this movie
Tim Robbins as Andrew Dufrene gets in a prison called Shawshank for killing his wife and a man who was having sex with her. He says he isn't guilty. He makes friends in prison and stays in prison for about 25 years. In this time a lot happens. He builds a library for his mate, he gets raped, he does the taxes of the director and he spent about 4 months in the isolated cell. This all makes it everything but a boring movie.
Now let's talk about the qualities of this movie. Firstly, the cast. The movie contains fabulous actors like Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. The acting in this movie is spot on. The fact that the acting is so good makes the storyline even better. You really feel like you are in the story yourself. The story is really thrilling and non-predictable. For example: At the end, Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins are having a conversation where Morgan takes away all the hope off Tim. After this conversation, Tim asks Morgan for a rope. You probably think he is going to commit suicide, but this wasn't the case. Really interesting. This makes it even more exciting to watch it without being interrupted. So here's a tip: don't check your phone while you're watching this movie.
I think The Shawshank Redemption is the best movie of all time with the stunning storyline and the amazing cast.
