The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa (2022)
By far the worst Star Wars episode Favreau has ever done
The 4 super color saturated speeders, complete with angst teens absolutely ruined this episode for me. Like Mos Eisley is a wretched pit right? I mean at least make them dirty? I can't believe that idea was 'ok'd' by Favreau. Everybody deserves a mulligan, so I'll let this 1 pass as most his work in the Star Wars universe has obviously been splendid.
The Walking Dead: One More (2021)
I really like this kind of individual type stories.
It reminds me of the Carl episode where he finishes with pudding. It's super interesting to just follow around a character or two and get really close and personal with a character/s journey in such a bleak world. I loved this episode actually.
Turn (2014)
Will very sadly never be known my most because of a weak 1st Season.
One of the best dramas ever made period. The casting is so unreal and well done and frankly the attention to detail in the scenes of that time sometimes look like actual paintings. The first season is far below in quality to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, which sadly hurt the shows following. Especially in special effects and general budget to achieve the time era look. But from the final episode of the 1st season to the end, it's in my opinion the best historical drama ever made. The acting, writing, costumes, settings, is all just top notch. Look for an unreal scary performance from Samuel Roukin as Captain Simcoe which I personally think he should have won awards for. I also really enjoyed how it didn't make the British as complete villains. In fact, Rogers and Arnold, both Americans, are just as villainous. It's painted pretty evenly, which is not usually done with American historical pieces made by Americans. If you love history, then you simply must watch this series. The final minutes of the last episode made me cry, seriously.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Victory and Death (2020)
The last 4 episodes are masterpiece theater.
It just goes to show, that the best Star Wars, still has at least a touch from George Lucas. Maybe he wasn't at his greatest when he had full control, but when he was at least involved, that was when the best work came out (Empire). The final episode was probably the most intense cartoon I've seen before. And the animation was to die for. I hope for another season! I'm greedy. haha
Going Postal (2010)
I absolutely loved this movie!
It's a travesty this isn't at least an 8 average on here. Besmirching Pratchett's name in my opinion. It's completely fun, and they somehow weave in tons of book quotes without it coming off corny. Charles Dance as Vetinari is perfection casting. Doyle does wonderful as well. David Fuchet as Reacher Gilt is extremely menacing. But Claire Foy steals the show. I'm SO excited to see the new Watch show later this year!
Can't Buy Me Love (1987)
One of the most underrated movies ever made!
The movie spoke to me so much more than any of these highly rated dramas as a kid. I wanted to be liked and popular just like everyone else in high school. But I was a bookworm ugly nerd. So I could completely relate to the premise of doing whatever it takes to be liked, popular, and have a cute gf (which I never did in school). The movie felt real to me. There are scenes I still quote as a Professor now and remember fondly to this day.
The tragic life of Amanda Peterson is so heart wrenching however. May she rest in peace.
The Orville: The Road Not Taken (2019)
The latter half of Season 2 was almost a different show!
What just seemed a fun little Star Trek parody suddenly became better than anything Star Trek or Star Wars has done in eons. What changed was going from mostly 1 off episodes that really didn't have much connection with each other, to really going with a linear storyline starting with 'A Happy Refrain'. Suddenly all the rest of the episodes were connected and the show lept into unforeseen quality. Of course lost in that is some of the humor, so frankly a mix of the two is fine for the future. Regardless, the last 8 or 9 episodes of Season 2, were some of the best Sci-Fi in ages. Congrats Seth and thanks!
Cosmos: Possible Worlds: The Cosmic Connectome (2020)
Definitely interesting....but so many complex ideas and scientists kind of smashed together
I did really enjoy the analogy of the growing city to the brain, and the various scientists and their respective experiments. But honestly, this was so much information, that it possibly would have been better as a two-parter perhaps. With the Vavilov episode just before, we got to see his life, experiments and develop an emotional connection with him. And this episode felt like a roller coaster. Still awesome though!
Tiger King (2020)
Completely the most insanely hilarious thing I've every watched!
If this show doesn't entertain you, nothing will. Only these type of people could exist in America, nowhere else on planet earth. Free Joe!
The Orville: Identity, Part II (2019)
These two episodes shook my core, seriously
Not only was it entertaining, it shows the real danger of AI. Up until just a few episodes ago, the show was a lot of comedy with a touch of serious moments. Then suddenly they flipped the switch on that idea and went the other way. As much of a masterpiece were the last two episodes, I hope they don't just forget the comedy though. But with Seth on board, it's doubtful. Man, I just became an even bigger fan.
The Orville: Identity (2019)
What the holy crap just happened!?
The show went from Family Guy in Space to some extremely serious episodes. Don't get me wrong, I love the comedy of the show and hope that isn't gone. But this added part with the danger of robots hit me across the face. First with Isaac dating the Doctor and having sex in the simulator a few episodes before (that episode was awesome too)...to this!
Drunk History: Are You Afraid of the Drunk? (2019)
Absolutely hilarious. Go to the 1 skit episode officially!
This episode's rating and the Hamilton episode should show Waters that the singular skit episodes are by far the best. Doing 3 skits in 1 episode is too much and you can't get into something well enough. I hope Season 7 is all 1 skit episodes.
