Horrible
27 March 2008
One of the things that impressed me with Bravo's other shows was that they took people with talent. To be a chef, you have to be a quick thinker, to be a designer, you have to be artistic and ready to look at things from a new perspective. To be a model? All you have to do is have a pretty face and the will to become Skelator. And that just doesn't cut it for me.

In a way, 'Make Me a Supermodel' is kind of amazing in that the models fit every stereotype you can think of. None of them are terribly bright, and they are all shockingly skinny and make a point of skipping meals. At least on other model shows, there are people encouraging them to be healthy. On this one it's the other way around. The judges criticize the models about their weight constantly. How many young girls (and some boys) watch this show and think that' how you have to be? These people set bad examples for everyone, not just children.

Do yourself a favor. Don't watch this show; you can literally feel the brain cells draining out your ears as the judge (who looks like Minnie Driver would if she was attacked with plastic surgery) walks onto the screen. It's depressing.

The Mighty Boosh (2003–2007)
9/10
Surreal comedy at it's best
26 February 2008
When I first heard the premise of the Mighty Boosh, I'll admit; I was skeptical. It sounded too zany, too weird, and, above all, just too spacey to be funny.

God, was I wrong.

The Mighty Boosh is certainly one of the funniest TV programs I have ever seen in my life. It's on par with Monty Python, and almost touches the talent of the god that is Eddie Izzard. Noel Fielding (Vince) and Julian Barratt (Howard) are comedic geniuses with perfect timing, and some of the worst taste in jokes. But hey, it's funny as hell, and halfway through the first episode I was splitting my sides laughing. The other characters (namely Bob Fossil, and Naboo) are fantastic. Unlike in other popular shows, they only add more rather than making it too complicated.

So far, I'd say that the second season of the show was by far the funniest. The Tale of Milky Joe and and the Old Gregg episodes will have you in stitches. I haven't finished the third season yet, but what I've seen has been made of pure win.

Buy the DVDs, go to the live show, or find it online; this show cannot be missed.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Terrific Fun!
9 May 2007
Look. I'm not an enormous Spiderman fan, but I do my best. I'd completely forgotten it's existence (school will do that to you) until I saw the trailer on TV. But I appreciate a good Spidey-fights-bad-guy day every once and a while.

So. The good bits in Spiderman. The special effects, obviously (although there are a few moments while watching Sandman that makes you wonder if they'd just thrown in the towel before the making the finishing touches), are the strongest part of the movie. There's a few action scenes that are simply sublime in that way.

The bad bits in Spiderman. The plot line is terrible. It makes no sense, and is completely and utterly random, complete with black slime falling from outer space in the form of a meteor. The acting is gloriously over the top. I mean, really. The "crying" had everyone in the theater howling. Also, it went on too long. They could have cut out a good 45 minutes, and made it a much better movie. By the end, I was thoroughly bored with Spiderman, and rather wanted him to jump off a building.

So, see it with a few friends, make jokes at the people on the screen, and just have fun. And, bring some popcorn!

Lost: I Do (2006)
Season 3, Episode 6

Great Finale!
8 November 2006
First of all, the finale for the mid-season of 'Lost' was incredible. It was intense, romantic, and it had regret. Amazing. I am still in awe from watching it, so please forgive me if I rant. The summary tells it all, and I don't want to spoil anything, but it really was nice to see Jack back in intense mode. He's been to mopey for my tastes lately. However, the one problem with the show is that now I have to wait 13 weeks to watch the next one. Bleck. I don't think that, after seeing this episode, anyone could wait such a while. It doesn't seem like much now, but, after seeing 'I Do,' you really do want to watch more. But what are you waiting for? Log on to ABC.com! Watch that episode! Watch it again if you've seen it before. As for me, I'll see you in Febuary! -Emily

Hopelessly Lovable
6 November 2006
I don't like romance movies very much. I don't find the plot lines very interesting at all. But 'Four Weddings' was different. It's not a basic love story, but rather, many different stories wound into one. There's the charming Charles, and his American love interest Carrie; there's Micheal and Gareth, the gay couple that are polar opposites of each other, but love each other all the same; there's the social boob Tom, and his sister the lovely Fiona, and an assortment of other interesting and charming characters. Rowan Atkinson has a hilarious cameo in it as well, as the incompetent priest. If there was one thing that I would change, it would be the Carrie character. Warning: she has a monotone which gets seriously annoying after a while, but is a beautiful and good actress nonetheless. Simon Callow stuns as Gareth, as does John Hannah, who gives a tear-jerking and hilarious performance as Micheal, as does Hugh Grant as Charles. Overall, a must see! I recommend it highly.
