Milli Vanilli (2023)
Best Documentary about fame ever made.
This is an absolutely riveting study into the fickle nature of fame as well as the price that must ultimately be paid for lies. It's also a peek behind the curtain of the music industry and the money that fuels it. Along the way lives are destroyed as two young and naive men get caught up in the whirlwind of fame and get put on a vicious trajectory with doom by forces out of their control. As a person watching this as it occurred in 1990 it is an interesting reminder, but viewers of all ages will enjoy this. It's also an emotional story of redemption for a man who was put under extraordinary international scorn in a no-win situation. Must see viewing for rock/pop aficionados and anyone.
The Flash (2023)
Speed-force yourself to the theatre now...
This movie has grabbed some negative attention in the last few weeks but guess what?..... it's really great. Some reviewers have poured scorn on the movie for no good reason. Say what you will about Ezra Miller IRL but he is great in the movie. It's full of surprises and is a love letter to DC Comics in film over the last 70 years. People talk about fan-service as a wrong and if that's the case I don't want to be right in this instance. It is also a multi-verse movie that actually makes sense, the first one since Spider-Man No Way Home. It is worthy of big screen viewing and more fun than the last 5 Marvel movies. It also puts DC back in the game after the atrocious Wonder Woman 1984 and the soulless Black Adam movie. Matter of fact, it's a great follow up to Zack Snyder's Justice League and the last time I had this much fun in a DC flick was probably Aquaman. It may be a while before we see another DC movie and with James Gunn rebooting everything, who knows what the future holds? Go see it.
