Keep Breathing (2022)
Good idea but ....
The topic along with an explanation why she decided to eagerly trawel north could have been a basis for a good series. Plus some hints how to survive in the wilderness would have been interesting. But this? Way to many boring flashbacks. And way too many errors in the plot in the wilderness. A fire does not still burn in the morning, neither can it be ignited the way it was done. A stalled airplane engine does not yield an eerie screaming sound in the descent just to name a few of these way too obvious errors.
Lost in Space (2018)
Flat and too many flaws
Maybe if it's your first science fiction movie then you might be surprised by the ideas. Alas, too many ideas were borrowed from earlier SciFi movies. I am also bringing up quite some tolerance for scientific errors, it's entertainment after all. But wherever these people arrive there's a planet with 1g and breathable air. Also a crash landed space ship with activated eject seats all of a sudden is usable again with a shiny cockpit. A person with an injured right shoulder consequently then has the left arm sling and plaster. The story is flat and pathetic with absolutely foreseeable dialogues. So it's an easy and non demanding SciFi series and therefore suitable for families.
Salvation (2017)
Quite ok if you can handle flaws concerning physics and the like
The conspiracies and intrigues in this series are quite good. Some of the actors also. Who on earth told Jennifer Finnigan to act most takes as a mouth breather? This undermines the authenticity of her role. The whole plot also tries to live from a sci-fi part. Be warned, if you didn't have a desk by the window during physics class, you will have to stomach probably a new record of plain wrong representations of physics, biology and computer technology. If you can overlook that, then the series is not so bad. Oh, and for a next season, a funding for some other vehicles would be good so that not SWAT teams, Politicians, Scientists need to drive around in the same three SUVs all the time.
One Strange Rock (2018)
A matter of taste
One strange rock is a US Version of BBCs Blue Planet series. If you like it will depend on your taste for way over dramatized language, or a more "dry" explanation of facts like in Blue Planet Series. The series suffers from too many repetition of film sequences and missing links in the stories. More than one time there is an explanation of cause and effect, but jumps the information segment to the final conclusion. The series also has a completely blind spot on the human effects on life on earth. Usually the danger to humans is described to origin from the sun or the earth itself. The protagonists used in this series seem to be most concerned for their own life and reproduction.. from a positive side, you learn new topics which are missing in the BBC Series. There are really beautyful movie seqences, which feast the eye. All in all its an ok documentary if you don't expect all statements explained.
Broken Silence (1995)
A movie which has time
It's a road movie without being a road movie. It's a movie about reflection an truth withuot being moralic. Maybe "the staight story" is somewhat similar to this movie. Interesting is the fact that they had to conceil the camera as they would not have gotten the rights to turn a movie everywhere. It may be hard to get a copy as even in Europe the movie is sold out. But who knows with the more an more availyble online streaming services, maybe the movie will become again available. If you like slow movies try to grab it!
Midnight Run (1988)
Still one of the best comedies
In this film many phrases were born, which were used in later movies. The humour is timeless. When this film ends it leaves you with a better mood than before. A well undersestimated movie.
Ugly Delicious (2018)
Gulping food is not tasting it
I love food series. But honestly, how can someone who just gulps food as fast as posible tell about taste? The scenes mostly miss the respect for food, especially by the series host. At least some of the cooks showed some art in cooking and applying taste to food and also taking the time to cook. Some of the cooks were really irritated by the host - understandably. What's really interesting, are some historical stories about certain cooking styles in the US.
