Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
What did you expect? Its a cartoon!
Its fun, applying all of Warner Bros IP in one movie still maintaining all the needed absurdity, that is indeed Space Jam. Don Cheadle performance was the most exceptional of all, but on the downside Space Jam has a very expensive universe which was no properly utilized.
Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021)
This is the best DC animation yet?
First of all I will like to point out that I am a big DC fan and this relationship began since my childhood, which makes me very enthusiastic about anything DC at the same time it makes me their biggest critic. So lets get into it, I love SamLiu directing I think he is the best director for the DC animated universe, from what I have seen here it just proves that he gets better with the times so I am looking forward to his next project. Lets not ignore the elements present, it felt like a James Bond mixed with martial arts, now all these are present through the visual representation and actions of the characters but what fleshed this out well is the wonderful classic musical score (which was super dope) and finally the voice cast, its funny but all the voice cast are people who can match up to play a live role of their animated characters plus there was a lot of diversity. There is no such thing as a perfect film so let us point out the faults in the show so firstly why is it called 'Batman soul of the dragon' because its literally nothing about batman he is more or less like a supporting character and finally the movie finale I dont know if its just me but all of them sealing themselves with the demons was really dumb.
Ghosts of War (2020)
Am not entirely sure where I stand
It starts off as a WW II horror film reminds me alot about Overload (2018), now the deeper things get in the film the more intense the events become for the protagonists (typical horror movie fashion) well it was in a position where it could only get better if only the genre didn't switch over to science fiction and left the film on a rather weirdly-silly cliffhanger with no guarantee of a sequel (not cool guys, not cool).
Mulan (2020)
Love it but not so much
Disney does it again bringing another lovable animation to the live action world (good), changing a lot of lovable characters or just erasing their existence (bad), with very good action sequences (great), westernizing a culturally proud group of people (terrible), tackling the general gender value system (excellent) and finally having a short runtime (unacceptable).
I know there were issues with the film but it was not all that bad still for me I think it would have been better if it were never attempted.
Antebellum (2020)
Fictional history
I wont lie I never saw the trailer, I just watched the film when it was available. It is evident that it is a film on revolt which was triggered though cruelty inflicted on colored people.
Let me establish something this is one of those films that will justify killing by the protagonist as a African watching the final scenes of the film did seem rewarding and exciting but overall the movie carries accounts taking them a bit overboard.
Blood of Zeus (2020)
A good show?
I have issues with powerhouse animations (castlevania) mostly when it comes down to dialogue but I am really impressed here, BOZ has an amazing and emotional plot taking story telling to another level so thumbs up guys you did great.
Still I have a problem with the animation, I feel that aspect needs more work and attention also though compared to castlevania this show seems to have far better dialogue and voice acting still doesn't mean that it is perfect. So if you can look past all these you will find the series is worth your viewing.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
A rotten excuse for reboot
Elizabeth Banks is one of my favorite female actresses so hearing that she has moved from acting to direting made me happy, until I saw the end result which had serious plot holes like Patrick Stewart for example who was a former Bosley a man that trained angels for years broke out formed his own crew and not even one female element was part of his newly formed ANTI-ANGELS crew. If you look at it closely it's just majorly MEN VS WOMEN.
Spies in Disguise (2019)
Super funny and silly
What amazed me the most was how the characters were modeled to look like the real cast which is funny but good, but the idea of making espionage tech safe is silly, but it's all for kids.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
Beautiful
I have been a fan of sonic longer than I remember and have always wished for a live action so thank you PARAMOUNT for delivering. I am mostly impressed with Jim Carrey's performance in the film he was a great Eggman from the persona to the voice although there was really no basis for some of his mad behaviors so I will call that a plot hole. With that aside every other thing was good.
Ratnik (2020)
A bold leap into the Sci Fi universe
It falls into some of my favorite genre's such as Science Fiction and Post- Apocalypse, also I love the battle suit it gives me the vibe I get whenever I play as Cal Warden in N.O.V.A 3. I advice every Nigerian to support this film it is a big step but it has a lot of potential.
