Interesting questions and angle.

Great artist. Hopefully he will continue to do what he loves. And that, is write songs and perform them. Becoming famous is not the goal for everyone. Becoming important and respected is for CVS, I think. The record label is still paramount in ensuring the success of a hit record. Chris Von Sneidern never has had that strong promotion from a label. Someone like Chris Von Sneidern may have been "famous" had he come around 20 years earlier. But his work will live on. That is certain.

Not sure if this documentary is available on DVD, as I saw it on public television. I wholeheartedly recommend watching. You will recognize other musicians in this work.

Entertaining but dishonest
30 April 2012
Much of the dialog of this movie I enjoyed. I was drawn into believing that this could have happened. But I know it didn't. In fact I would doubt that much of it would have happened even if McCartney would have spent the day with just Lennon in New York. If the movie would have even been based on actual events, then it may have worked. Creating history does an injustice to all the real characters. For this reason, a well acted and interesting movie gets a thumbs down from me. The only reason it gets a 6 is because of its acting, and some of the writing. The Beatles phenomena is one of the best stories of the 20th Century. There is no need to make anything up. Writers and directors need only tell it truthfully and honestly.

Very good western, certainly a sleeper

I have, over the last year been watching my favorite westerns over again, and also viewing westerns I had never seen including this one. A very good western picture with some light moments and some very thought provoking serious sequences. We all know the headliners of the cast, but there are many well known character actors here too. I rated this movie an 8 (7 being above average IMO). The mix of humor and seriousness was very refreshing to me. Director John Ford, I bet was very proud of this movie. Jimmy Stewart is an old crusty lawman who isn't always honest, but has a good heart. For 1950, this movie has the appearance of a newer picture in its quality. The cinematography and music were very good too. I recommend this movie if you are a fan of westerns.

An intelligent western.

A very good western which does not get the publicity of some more well known pictures of this genre. A unique and intelligent western. Excellent score too! This movie makes you stand in the shoes of the main character - Cooper.
