The Turning (2020)

Bad
1 May 2020
This movie was.... boring and long. You watch it, and continue watching it, in hopes that something interesting happens. But besides a few moments, and I mean a feew, nothing really happens. The cast was amazing, but something definitely went wrong with the production and writing of this movie. Someone on here said it felt like they were watching an hour and a half long trailer, and honestly, that's exactly how it felt. To make things even worse, the ending plot didn't make any sense whatsoever. It felt disconnected from the movie, almost like someone else wrote it after just reading some catchwords, OR the ending was rushed and not well thought out. I can appreciate a movie that tastefully leaves room for own interpretations, but this one was just bad. Such a shame, because with the right writers & production team, this could've been an incredible movie. The story was definitely there.

This movie was just... bad. I give credit to the crew and cast who put their time and effort into this movie, but we could've not seen this movie and be okay. It's not a lifechanging movie or one that sticks with you for the right reasons. I know Dick Maas directed and produced this movie, and this is his style of movie making, but I didn't enjoy it. If this movie didn't have extremely bad CGI, it could've been really enjoyable. I mean, the concept is great. I love the idea of introducing a different side of Sint and his helpers; dark and twisted zombies that are out there to kill everyone. The acting wasn't great either.

Entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favourite YouTube series at the moment. It's low in quality, but highly entertaining. For those who aren't familiar with the concept of this, the hosts (Brian Firkus aka Trixie Mattel and Brian McCook aka Katya Zamolodchikova), during each episode, talk about different topics, ranging from death to their experience on RPDR and RPDR All Stars to Crime or Traveling, etc. The way these two interact with each other is very amusing to watch. There's not much going on quality or production wise, as the hosts just sit in front of a green screen on chairs, talking about anything that comes to their mind, with edits here and there to make their conversations and thought process even more interesting.

Great show and very entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
When I saw the first two episodes of this series, I at first had my doubts. I thought that this would be another knock off, ''high school drama'' kind of thing, and I almost stopped watching, but I was proven wrong. The show is hilarious and has the right mixture between humour (for some, some of this humour might be a little offensive I guess), great scripts, moral lessons and drama. It's not out of proportion or overdone. At first, I didn't quite get the character choices, but I can really appreciate the exaggerated characters. Each of them has their own distinctive character and personality and catch phrases. Despite their differences, they make a great group of friends and their love-hate relationships makes them extremely likeable. I love Abeds character and his punchlines and words, and their delivery. It's always spot on. And as random and 'weird' some of his remarks are, it makes him very likeable and real. I appreciate the cast of this series so much, as each of them has a different roll in it. From professor/student Chang (who is responsible for a couple of great memes), to Britta Perry, Troy Barnes, Abed Nadir, Jeff Winger, Annie Edison, Pierce Hawthorne, Shirley Bennet to characters who get less screen time such as Vaughn, Dean Craig Pelton, professor Ian Duncan and Alex 'Starburns' Osbourne, every one of them makes this series complete. I admire how even the less big characters are easily recognisable based on their appearance and characters/personalities. I was pleasantly surprised with the appearance and the acting of Jack Black in episode 13, season 1, and in general with Donald Glovers performance as Troy Barnes. I thought it was smart of the makers to not emphasize on Glover's musical abilities too much and make that his personality trait. Instead, the musical aspect of the series was given to Pierce more than Troy (Donald).

The only thing I would say, is that the end of the show sometimes gets a little predictable, at least in the sense that they change their mind and do the right thing. But that's not bad criticism at all and this doesn't make it any less watchable. I would also say that the characters sometimes get a little too childish in their behaviour, but at the end of the episode they always realize their wrongs and make it right. Lastly, very few times it takes some effort to watch through the different episodes, as it can feel as if not much is happening (but the reality is, that there's a lot going on all the time), but overall this is very watchable. I easily watched 4 or 5 episodes if not more in a row. That should say something about this series.

The Lion King (1994)

In my opinion, one of Disney's best movies
10 April 2020
I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and completely falling in love with it. Even now, as I'm 20 years old, this movie touches me in a way very few movies do. The movie takes you through the journey of a young lion to adulthood, the royal throne, the lessons he learns throughout his journey and the different situations that he goes through that ultimately makes him a better person (I guess you could say 'lion' here). What I love about this movie (and what I subconsciously loved about it as a kid) is how much this movies teaches us. This movie is filled with moral lessons ("Hakuna Matata" for example) that we can all, no matter our age, learn from and relate to.

Not the best, but not the worst either

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was okay to watch. The humor in this movie is low in quality but makes you laugh anyways, because most of the jokes and the humor used in the movie is so bad that it's good. I guess that's how you can describe this movie: so good that it's bad. I don't want to discredit anyone who worked on this movie, because it doesn't get lost on me how much work, time and effort goes into making a movie. The keyplayers for this movie were the actors, especially Christina Applegate and Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stibbs (the two guys who played the boys). Besides from the humor (which at times felt a little out of place or overkill), there's not really a big character development happening besides from some lukewarm ones, or a big storyline. The entire movie is about a family changing their vacationplans and the entire trip going wrong untill the family reaches their destination and find out that everything wasn't as bad as they thought because they could ride this one rollercoaster. I guess you can expect that from this kind of movie.

Very entertaining

This show can't be described in one word. It's highly entertaining but at the same time offers in insight into a world that is often hidden from the public. Pretty much every person in this documentary has a dubious background and a story to tell. This documentary had so many twists that it went from just a documentary about people owning exotic animals, to feuds between different parties to crazier and crazier events. I would say that the first episode or the first two aren't that exciting but trust me, keep watching because it will get a lot more exciting to watch. I admire the documentarymaker, who spent several years filming this docu.

Great idea, execution could've been better

This show had great entertainment quality and the actors did a good job. I was very stoked to hear about this series and to see Octivia Spencer and Tiffany Haddish being part of the cast. The actors did a fantastic job. I loved the sets and clothes as well. I love myself some documentairy mixed with drama based on true historic events, but unfortunately, after seeing this series and reading about the inspiration for this miniseries, I was very dissapointed in the way the writers represented Madame C.J. Walker, Addie Monroe (who's character is based on Annie Malone) and other characters. It's not necessarily a bad thing when you add something of your own into a series that's based on real events, but it is when you put in too many inaccuracies or big ones. In this case, we were given a mixture of both. Too bad, since they had one hell of a cast.

Great serie

I love this serie. I love how these characters are written and played and how the story continues to develop. I watched the first season in three days, because I liked it that much. Season two was a little less exciting for me, but nonetheless great.

Amazing series
30 March 2020
This is one of my favourite series of all time. This show had a great mixture of everything: great production, storylines and character development (except for season 8, let's not talk about that), amazing sets, actors, and soo much more. I admire the amount of work was put into making the episodes, the complicated storylines, the people that make sure every little detail is right, and just the overall outcome of each episode. Although season 8 was a huge dissapointment, only because the writers didn't properly take their time to finish it, overall this serie was amazing to watch and I always looked forward to watch a new season or episode.
