Bao (2018)
Storm of emotions.
It's amazing how this short film in 7 minutes without words can cause so many emotions, I managed to cry and laugh in such a short time. It's just Wow.
Sherlock Jr. (1924)
Brilliant Buster Keaton.
I can't believe that it was filmed almost 100 years ago, I watched it with my mouth open. Some of the scenes I don't understand how they were filmed, they are so brilliant, it's just the magic of cinema.
Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988)
A film that makes you love cinema even more!
This italian film "Cinema Paradiso" is just amazing, I have no words. The film made a huge impression on me, it's a flurry of emotions, I watched this film and laughed and cried. I really liked the story, it is realistic, sincere and kind, with amazing characters that you feel from the very first minutes, Alfredo and Toto are adorable, and the actors who played them are also wonderful. I also want to praise how coolly the actors who played the character of Toto from different years were selected, I really believe that this is all one person, I liked Toto - Child the most, he was so charismatic and I watched for him and Alfredo without blinking. The supporting characters are all very charismatic and interesting too. Lots of great visuals and lots of creative transitions. The soundtrack is very beautiful, it creates an affectionate atmosphere for the film and penetrates to the depths of the soul. The film tells us to never get hung up on one thing and not look back into the past. Well, you can see how the film was made with all love for cinema. If you are a movie fan, then it will be impossible not to cry at the end. For a long time I have not watched such kind and sincere films. I advise everyone to see who has not yet seen!
Ava (2020)
A very cliché action movie, with a bad script and very stretched scenes that could be cut.
The film was shot badly, there really are no action scenes and when they appear, they are just awful, it was very difficult to watch as the action scenes were edited very clumsily and incomprehensibly. I don't understand how cool actors like Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell and John Malkovich could have starred in such a stupid and banal film. I can't praise them, and I can't scold them, they were ... they just were. The main character is very incomprehensible, I do not want to empathize with her at all, the minor characters are also very poorly spelled out their motivation is stupid. The only thing I liked was the soundtrack, it was good, but otherwise the film is bad. The director tried to make a drama / action movie about a hired killer showing how poor and unhappy she is so that we would feel sorry for her and empathize with her, but she does not show from the good side, and therefore it is simply unrealistic.
Unhinged (2020)
Good comedy!
"Unhinged" is a harsh thriller ... hmm noooo, it's such a funny movie, I laughed throughout the whole movie and that's good because the movie didn't make me feel bad. Well, in fact, the film is pretty stupid, it is full of nonsense and absurd situations, very poorly developed characters who make the most stupid decisions, Russell Crowe is not bad enough, but he does not take out the whole film, Caren Pistorius also looks good in her role. The message of the film seemed strange to me, not even the message itself, but how the film shows it. Yes, this is a rather urgent and true problem of society, but this film presents it all very clumsy.
The atmosphere of the film as a thriller is so-so, but I had a good laugh. And perhaps the rating could be lower, but the film did not disgust me and I watched it with interes, the film is certainly rather weak, but I did not expect much from this film.
On the Rocks (2020)
This is a film with a banal plot but not badly implemented and with good actors.
"On the Rocks" is a comedy-drama film of Sofia Coppola, the film was made in her style, when I started watching this film I did not pay attention to the name of the director, but after watching, I immediately realized that this was her film.
The film is rather boring and protracted, there are a couple of funny moments, but they pass quickly and you again get bored, besides, the film is full of unnecessary and empty dialogues, for example, a woman who always talked abot her life with Laura at school, why the film needs her? is not clear, is it funny? maybe a little, but not more...
I was pleased with the good acting of Bill Murray and Rashida Jones, the two of them look very good on the screen and their characters have not bad chemistry.
Marlon Wayans is pretty good too, but I didn't care about his character.
A film about a banal topic of relationships between different generations and about misunderstandings between husband and wife. We have already seen enough films on this topic, and besides, the film does not bring anything new.
Love and Monsters (2020)
Funny, intersting and relax movie with great actors and cute dog.
"Love and Monsters" - a film that I liked surprisingly. I really liked the world of the apocalypse, all the monsters turned out to be very interesting and quite frightening (it's a pity that there was no huge spider, I would have looked). The graphics and visuals of the monsters were good too. All the characters turned out to be charismatic, except for the villain, who seemed clichéd and silly to me. In addition, the amazing actors Michael Rooker (Clyde) and Ariana Greenblatt (Minnow) were very cool here, and Dylan O'Brien (Joel) surprised me, he played his role very well, I really liked him. The film is very funny, sometimes even sad. For what you can blame this film, it is a bit banal and predictable plot, but it does not interfere with watching the movie. If you just want to relax in the evening and watch a movie, this will do, I advise you to watch it once.
Prisoners (2013)
Interesting and mesmerizing detective film.
I watched this movie with bated breath. It's really great psychological crime thriller what tells about the resistance of good and evil within oneself. The film is very exciting, the duration of the fiilm is two and a half hours, but they passed very quickly.
The plot is not bad, with many plot twists. The story always went in an unexpected direction. There were some plot jambs that confused me a little, for example why at the end the police did not take fingerprints from the Keller's bags that he brought Holly's home, and some more things.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman are incredible, Paul Dano is also very good. Was very mesmerizing to watch Hugh Jackman acting, I think this is his best role. But I couldn't empathize with the main characters. The rest of the characters were played by good actors, but the characters themselves turned out to be a little empty. For example I would really like to know more about the son of the main character. What I liked the most about the film was the visual. Roger Deakins does his job admirably. Composition of the frame, the color scheme is just magic. Also, I can't help but mention the soundtrack, it is very atmospheric, from which goosebumps.
In general, it's not a masterpiece and not the best Denis Villeneuve movie, but it's really great film. You probably won't want to rewatch this movie, but still need to look once.
En man som heter Ove (2015)
9.5/10 A touching and at the same time funny story about an evil old man.
Realy good swedish movie, thas tells beautiful old man's story. Idea it's not realy new, but well submitted. Very pleasant and interesting main character to which you feel from the first minutes of the film. Minor characters are also interesting. The actor in the lead role fit perfectly. The only thing you can find fault with is flashbacks, they had some plot holes. Camera work is unremarkable, and editing in places is clumsy. But watching a movie does not spoil it at all. Who likes the genre of comedy drama, the film must really like!
