Long Weekend (2021)
it's just not good
Nothing made sense :) the chemistry between the characters is cringey and a little uncomfy :) the "big reveal" was so unwarranted and odd :)
i went to see this because i had missed taking myself to the movies amidst the pandemic, and this was the only thing out currently that seemed to interest me. however, i wanted to leave the theater while i was watching. it really did not scratch the itch that i had to go to the movies again. :/ hoping for better releases in the coming months!
Promising Young Woman (2020)

- please win an oscar
The Spectacular Now (2013)
i love this film
There is really nothing special about this movie, but it is by far one of my favorites of all time. Miles Teller gives a performance that is so convincing and well done that if that's the only reason you watch this movie, it is worth it. The relationship he has with his mother in the film is something truly magical.
The soundtrack is so unique and if you listen to the soundtrack alone, you are able to follow the story just as clearly. It is rare for that to be accomplished.
I admire this movie mostly for its simplicity and its feeling of real life. Would really recommend for anyone looking for something meaningful, this movie will make the time worth your while guaranteed.
Bridgerton (2020)
CRINGE - stopped @ ep. 5
We are at that point in the pandemic where people are willing to watch ANYTHING. i had absolutely no interest in this show to begin with but could not go on social media without hearing people talk about it so decided that i should maybe give it a go (it had to be worth my time right???). WRONG. IT WAS TERRIBLE, just as i had expected. daphne and simon have ZERO chemistry and are the most bland people i have ever seen on screen. how are we supposed to route for characters that we have absolutely nothing in common with and simply do not care about at all. THE BEST part of the show were eloise and penelope, but obviously they got almost no screen time and had no significant scenes. i hated how barely any other of the characters storylines were explored throughout the show.
now let's talk dialogue, i found myself CACKLING during many of the lines in the back end of the series. simon and daphne trying to be romantic to one another was SO UNCOMFY. they seemed to have kept the direct quotes from the cheesy book and it just did not work well at all on screen. i would give examples but i just feel too gross typing them out myself <3.
also, they have so much sex. why do we need to see it.
lastly, the historical setting of the show was not believable whatsoever. it's as if they simply wrote a crappy season of a teen show but decided to make the characters wear fancy clothes and be british.
Big Mouth (2017)
niche humor for sure
This show is very well done and makes some great analogies to the real life struggles that middle school kids go through. we have all been there, so we all understand. however, i just am not a fan of crass humor like this. the whole show is about sex, and i often found myself cringing through many scenes. great pop culture references, but i often found many of the jokes not relatable. i have a lot of respect for the creators doing something so outside of the box, so for that i applaud them. just not my cup of tea.
La vie d'Adèle (2013)
Confused and BORED
Why was this movie so hyped? I found it to be extremely boring and it dragged on longer than it should have. I appreciate the themes that were presented and I understand that this is an important part of film history, however there were just too many things that did not make this worthwhile to me. Firstly, Adele is not a lovable or interesting character and it is really hard to care about her at all. Second, I found some of the scenes to be way too provocative at times, and I am an avid lover of romance films. It just felt like the director had the wrong intentions when making the film and didn't know what an audience would enjoy watching. However, this is just my opinion so maybe you are just going to have to experience these 3 confusing hours for yourself!
Gewoon vrienden (2018)
😴
Cute but just really boring and lacked character development
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
OVERRATED
I made it maybe 30 minutes before the movie before turning it off :( i went in with extremely high hopes but was sadly let down. i knew the entire plot of the movie within the first 10 minutes, so i found no reason to keep on going. the scenes were sporadic and confusing at times
