Finch (2021)

Cast away II.
9 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Finch seems like the sequel to Cast Away. Just a whole lot more depressing. If you are wondering if its worth signing up to Apple + to watch the movie, well I can say you can safely save your money and time. This semi woke American movie does not have many redeeming factors. An hour into the movie I was wondering when was the plot going to take off.. This dystopian sequel to Cast away is a dull monologue. If this is what we can expect from apple+ then I don't see a future. Tom Hanks is a good actor, he was just given a dumb script.

what did they do to star wars??
23 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
With this movie they destroyed the franchise, maybe they are looking for a different audience, because if you grew up in the 80's then you won't find it as good as the original movies. Bad guys men. Men in Power bad, (supreme leader, kylo, hux) women in power good, Leya, Rey, holdo) Even poe was made out to be incompetent. I don't know where they are taking the franchise, but its not a continuation of the original. Its a rewritten narrative to pander to the views of todays audience.

This is a classic example of taking a great story and destroying it.

Classic example of how to turn a great book into a terrible movie...
7 February 2017
I loved the book Girl on the train and the movie more of less follows the book, but that is the problem you have hours to enjoy the book and the screen play for a two hour movie does not work.. also Hello!!! The book is set in London.. not everything in the movie industry revolves around the US.. why does it have to be reset there. The movie reminds me of the us version of the girl with the dragon tattoo.. the Swedish original movie was far better. Its a pity because the actors are good, its just very very badly directed. So Hollywood please wake up and do something original that does not evolve a franchise with ten dozen sequels. Fedup with these movies.

Harrowing, brilliant and will leave you moved
12 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is what Martin Sc will be remembered for, the whole movie is extremely moving and at times very hard to watch. The Catholic theme is central to the movie and the actors play their roles perfectly. Its a movie that questions how faith should be put into practice and those difficult moments when hard decisions are needed. The closing scene will have you crying. There is also incredible cinematography in the movie. If you are not catholic or religious its a good history lesson to many who don't know about the slaughter of thousands of Christians in japan. Its a worthy adaptation of the novel, and will be a classic and a legacy to MS.

Bourne is.... boring!!
5 August 2016
:-( what happened to bourne.. He is getting slow in his old age. No drama, no grit, no plot. No... Bourne. And how could they kill (.. ..) come on!!. Loved the first and second movie. but this one was just too predictable, Hollywood is scrapping the barrel with these sequels, after no 3 things go downhill fast, esp when the divide a movie. (like the hobbit) anyway if you are a die hard bourne fan you MIGHT like this movie, I didn't, it was OK but the DVD would have been fine or netflix at some stage where this movie will end up. sadly that is the height of me review for this movie. Also adding Tommy Lee Jones did nothing at all for this movie.

Like watching a piece of toast turning black.
25 January 2016
I could not stop mentally vomiting. This movie is so clichéd it should never have been made... 3 michelin star chef eating in burger king.. come on, product placement has ruined the movie industry. There was NO story line, no script, bad acting. The only good thing about the movie was its name. Burnt. And its a pity they did not burnt the manuscript. Why do the make these movies. At least we have a good contender fort he razzes. Also the film industry needs to stop taking money from British American tobacco.. Its 2016, the general population does not smoke, yet in the movie all the main characters did. It was just bad getting worse.

Not what I expected at all
28 December 2015
The actors a better know for their comedy light actions movies. There was NO comedy in this movie and lots of action.

Its a very tense movie from start to end. Its well made, plausible. If you have kids its a hard movie to watch, would make you think twice about taking an expat job. I haven't seen Owen Wilson so serious in a movie ever. He actually did a great job pulling of a convincing role as a serious actor. Its a little unreal watching him after seeing him in so many comedies. its really intense. Pierce Brosnan seems to be an after thought in the movie. He is good, but not really needed. Anyway you won't be bored in the movie, its pretty fast pace.

Great Movie about Michael Glatze
28 December 2015
Great movie about Michael Glatze. Getting a lot of mixed reviews from the LGBT community, the reality is we have to be open to everyone and not just those who share the same views as us. It would have been easy for Kelly to direct a feature which depicted Glatze as a self-hating gay man who hurls himself back in the closet, but the truth may be more complicated (some have suggested Glatze may not have been gay in the first place), and the film attempts to present the facts of his life at the time without making judgments. Its a great movie. The movie may be uncomfortable viewing for some (Gay and Straight) but its a movie that is worthy in its own right.

True to its heritage. Star wars wins again
23 December 2015
It was brilliant from start to end. I don't need to hyper analyse it to love it. If course there is that moment when you say NO!!!. (no spoiler) but what a way to exit. Unlike the hobbit which is really unwatchable again. I really liked the movie, I would see it again. I wasn't sure what JJ abrams would do with the movie, but he has been pretty faithful to the force. Pretty emotional at times. But a pleasure to watch. Felt like It was 1983 again. Its great to see this franchise resurrected. It seems like a natural continuation and not a forced project.

One thing I don't know what 3D does for the movie.

Brilliant...!!! Just as good as the book
14 October 2015
I read the book the week before the movie. I loved the book and the movie. Not going to spoil the movie for you,, but it pretty much follows the book except for 2 parts. However the movie has a brilliant and better ending than the book. what more can I say, I could watch this movie again. and again. it was just so well done. Please make kids watch it, make them think about science. I'm glad they toned down the language in the movie. there is so much detail in the book and movie you really have to see the movie again. Its edge of the seat stuff. I loved every minute. I wish Hollywood made more movies like this. It really wants to make you run up a mountain and breath in earths air.

The Devil Wears Prada II
3 October 2015
So, its 7 years since she abandoned Meryl Streep in Paris. She has setup her own internet business selling cloths. (My imagination filling in the details). Honestly I didn't get this movie at all. Robert De Niro was good, some good laughs. But the whole story line was terrible. Do women honestly think this happens in real life??? At the end of the movie you are there wishing you have a bucket.. PLEASE get real. It was cliché after cliché.. The actors were good, but the script was bad and just got worse as the movie progressed. I think any successful women in business would find this movie a work of fantasy fiction. The first half of the movie is OK.. and then it gets worse and worse.

WOW.. not what I expected at all.
20 September 2015
I was expecting a documentary with actors. or so come critics said. It was a bloody brilliant movie at every level. Well done Emily Watson!. The cinematography was stunning. I would recommend that you watch on the biggest screen possible. 3d effects were good. I wish there were more movies made like this. The music by Dario Marianelli was great, reminds me of Atonement. The last 5 minutes with is epilogue theme had half the cinema in tears. Be warned, bring your Kleenex. Jason Clarke as Rob Hall was a good cast. I know what I like.. and I liked this movie. It captures the audience from the start. Incredibly moving. Would make you want to visit Everest, maybe not climb it, but go to base camp. Didn't think it was Keira Knightley's best performance.

Torture for parents
12 September 2015
I know there are lots of good reviews. The trailer looked good. Kids wanted to see it. But to be honest found it pretty boring and a waste of money. Where to start, well its an American movie. Just watch the trailer, there isn't much more to it than the trailer, intact its best parts are in the trailer. It goes round in circles. Honestly for movies like this there should be a warning for parents that it may cause severe boredom. Anyway as cartoons go I suppose its fine.lacks laugh out loud humor and its lazy animation is disheartening. Pixar films are known to pack an emotional punch and this doesn't have any of that. All it has to offer is a misguided heart that is visually displeasing.

Downton Abbey the Movie...
29 March 2015
If you like Downton Abbey .. You will like the movie. Joke aside the movie was spectacular, kids loved it. Kate Blanchett (the Stepmother) played her role excellently. The story is as enchanting as ever, the handsome cast doesn't miss a beat, while the costumes and set design are wonders to behold. Anyway its the 4 or 5th remake of Cinderella, and its fine. Everyone knows what to expect. Its certainly a family movie..

One thing to watch with young kids are the 2 death scenes when the mother is dying and the King is dying. Nice scenes, will have you in tears. Kids will be asking questions/// Where did the Mammy go?

This used to be call porn.
10 February 2015
Sorry but I can't get over Jamie Doran.. I mean he comes from playing a serial killer in the Fall (who tied up women and murdered them) to .. Well. 20 mins of sex. The movie is boring and predictable. The fine line between abuse and pleasure is so thin it's almost non- existent. Lacks any of the raunch or controversy promised, and is instead tiresome, banal and as thinly plotted as a porn. I haven't read the book.. and I have to say I didn't finish the movie. I don't think i missed much by leaving 20 mins early, but it was just boring. If a man had written the book he would probably have been jailed. Its beyond understanding what people see in the book/movie. Unless all the women I know are telling me lies and secretly want to be tied up and abused by a perverted man.

I nearly died of boredom...
31 January 2015
The Little Death is just a mostly laughless tour of unlikeable, depressive suburbanites. Its the problem with comedy.. to make a movie funny you need to get comedians.. not actors trying to be funny. Its not funny, its tedious. Maybe the aussies like it. Its just off. What I don't get are all the good reviews.. Did they watch a different movie? I like a good comedy. This falls flat at every level, its not original, not funny, bad acting. Its like a book of bad short stories. Don't waste your time. The overarching problem is the lack of a consistent comic tone. Sometimes Lawson seems to be aiming for the kind of observational humour that triggers laughs of recognition, but he's also willing to throw psychological probability out the window for the sake of a gag. It's often unclear whether we're meant to view the characters with revulsion or envy: even when the material is at its most grotesque, there seems to be an underlying faith that we'll enjoy watching good-looking people in split-level homes with IKEA-style furnishings and plenty of natural light.

Stunning and unforgettable
31 December 2014
Stunning and unforgettable Bio of louis Zamperini. My only Criticism is that its TOO short. To make a movie about this Bio was always going to be challenging. There could have been 3 or 4 movies made. That said its a well made movie. Its had to find fault in the epic story of survival. Its an inspirational movie, brings you to tears a times. We forget sometimes about the horrors people suffer.. Cinemas full of marvel comic book sequels.. Its good we getting something that reflects reality. It really stands out as one of the great movies of 2014. In todays world its easy to forget the suffering of war. This movie brings home mans will to survive. The meaning of Faith.

nightmare on netflix
13 December 2014
please... why do they make these movies. awful. the unnecessary tale of the Princess of Wales' last true love, is a vapid, banal, and superficial exercise in cheap voyeurism. Hirschbeigel says she's a miracle, the screenplay leans toward monster. I wish the film was interesting enough to make a case for both possibilities. This affair hardly plays as being more than the pre-Dodi Fayed footnote it still is today, much less deserving of this grand epic romance treatment given by the filmmakers. Cheap movie. If you are going to make a film about the late Princess of Wales, you are obviously going to choose the guy who directed "Downfall," about the last days of Hitler, and the actress who played opposite King Kong.

adult viewer here.. Teen dribble terrible.
13 December 2014
Teen dribble. I would go as far to say Nanny McPhew with a touch of horror. Nothing remarkable at all about the movie. Acting bad. I presume its geared towards the teenage minds, because as an adult I would demand my money back. Its the type of movie that heads quickly to net flex (where I also would not watch it) These movies should have a warn *** beware to over 21's.. This movie may cause you to roll eyes and wish you had stayed at home****. Some teen movies can be pretty good, but this one does not hit any notes. Just because a movie as some well known actors does not mean its a good movie. I struggle with these reviews.. " Your review does not contain enough lines - the minimum length for reviews is 10 lines of text. "... Well really these bad movies in my adult opinion are just too bad to review.

The hobbit a disappointing trilogy.
13 December 2014
If Jackson had followed the same logic with LOTR we would have 12 movies for those 3 books. I am a big fan of LOTR three movies. They were well made. I think i was a cheap shot with the Hobbit. Acting not great (of course Ian Mckellen is fantastic, so is Kate B..) Its practically a flat semi comedy with the elves. Not the worst movie of all time, but when you set expectations high with LOTR then you expect something similar with the hobbit.. and it never came. I could never see myself sitting down to watch these 3 movies again. He could have have made at most 2 movies. The first hobbit movie was good. I think the last 2 just don't do justice.

Hunger games going in this direction Great->Good->Boring.
21 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
What happened... What a boring movie. The last book could easily have been done in one movie. Instead we have to pay twice to see a movie. the acting was poor, not much action, Pretty dull as movies go. I don't like how Hollywood is milking some of successes. Its becoming too predictable and annoying. I like the first 2 movies, but this movie makes no sense, it has no ending. The battle that informs this adaptation is between the filmmakers' intent to create a moneymaking franchise... and the efforts of star Jennifer Lawrence to create a compelling movie. Its sad, because the first 2 movies were pretty good as things go. This is a let down at every level.

Just the music alone makes it great.
10 November 2014
The Hans Zimmer music is spectacular in this movie. Without a doubt this will be a classic movie for years and years. Not going to ruin the story, its science fiction. there is not an over use of CGI. I thought it was better than inception, which I also liked. Both movies had a play on the perception of time, other worlds. Unlike inception, this movie had a strong tug at the heart with a lot of emotion. The very fact so many people are talking about this movie will make you want to go and see it. Also its really a movie you have to watch on the big screen. Its well done. the nearly 3 hours was good, it did it justice. f

Was this supposed to be a movie??
30 October 2014
Rented "thinking" this was a movie, is more a docuvie. Lets run around with cameras recording while other cameras are recording us.. The special effects were not so special, they were awful. The acting was awful. The plot was bad, pretty much you could have called the movie Twister II. Predictable predictable...Nothing original. So much time is spent justifying the presence of all these cameras that no one bothered to create a single character worth rooting for.Unfortunately, long before the storm has blown itself out, the plot has long since come apart. Its one of those movies that quickly move from Cinema to rental and then to netflix quickly afterwards.

The best Cruise movie ever.
2 June 2014
The best Cruise movie ever. if you like the Matrix, you will like this movie. It was well paced and packed with action. obviously the storyline was scifi, but it was a good line. I actually can't believe that Cruise pulled this off. I was thinking we were in for another war of the worlds type movie.. or some scientology thing.. But no it was a good movie. Blunt was great in her Role. One thing I didn't get at all was the 3d. I think the movie would be fine in 2d. I think that 3d added nothing to the movie. I wasn't going to see the movie, as I am not a Cruise fan, but heard the good reviews on Radio and decided to check it out. Some people don't like the ending. I liked the ending. So 10 out of 10 for this movie.

A German movie you will never forget
31 January 2014
This is a very intense German triller. Exceptionally well made, not what I expected and as the movie progressed you fine yourself re-evaluating the characters.. Nothing negative to write about this movie, a simply script well acted. I only wish more movies were made like this, for 2 million dollars they made a masterpiece of cinema. Watch it. Florian Henckel-Donnersmarck's direction with its twists and turns kept the audience glued to the screen. Because of the film's popularity,And even though the movie has very tough moments it is all so well done and presented with such a good taste that in the end you feel some sort of relieved.
