Damsel (2024)
For those who also enjoyed this film
I am writing this review out of obligation to the cast and crew who put it together. This was an extremely entertaining movie. The buildup in the beginning was cinematically beautiful enough to be immersive, and while I did not stop trying to guess exactly what was going on I did forget I was watching a movie. All characters actions and scripts were on point with what would be expected in the given situation. They also did a great job of constantly switching between a sense of wonder and horror. Its a shame that more people could not get past whatever tropes they thought were cliche' especially since there are not that many movies with smart and capable women such as this. Very strange double standard indeed.
Goosebumps (2023)
Please read
So, Obviously I am not done watching this yet and there are two episodes of season one still yet to be released. The first episode sucked, but I am very glad I gave episode 2 a chance, because the story line gets much better. There are definitely some cheesy parts but overall, I actually enjoy this modern remake. I am a millennial so maybe I am not 100% up to date on how gen z acts now, But I can appreciate the way they made the story line catchy. I think viewers need to remember that it isn't always easy to re create cult classic that has been appreciated for years. I think they did a great job, overall.
Dinner in America (2020)
Fantastic Film...
What a gem... I came across this movie on hulu, just scrolling the comedy section with my boyfriend. I decided to play it and just give it a chance. This movie keeps you guessing and there is never a dull moment, which is awesome. I really enjoyed the romantic part of this movie, along with certain parts that were more realistic. This movie will definitley stick with me as far as enjoying colorful aesthetics and non stop events happening. Definitley worth a shot for anyone out there wondering if they should press play, you will not regret it at all ! Honestly, i'd rate it a ten out of ten any day!
Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller (2020)
She is AMAZING
First of all, the way she talks to people and gets information is awesome but she has a very entertaining personality, I really like her. The topics she goes over are always entertaining yet take you by surprise. She is extremely good at what she does for a living. Real documentary style she uses makes you think about the different sides of peoples lives (the good and the criminal) and why they do what they do. Truly, keeps you interested with the topics, I would recommend this show to people who like drugs inc and locked up abroad as well. I hope that in the future, I can see more of her fantastic work!! Well done 10/10!!
Emily the Criminal (2022)
Overall, great film
I throughly enjoyed this movie because it started off with something I wasn't really expecting, I thought she may be dealing drugs or robbing people but it made the film more interesting when they introduced credit card fraud. The movie got me hooked and made me wonder "what will happen next!!?". Overall, I think almost everything about the movie was pretty realistic, pros and cons of credit card fraud. The only thing that was unrealistic a bit was the ending. I would definitely recommend watching this movie if you are interested in crime drama or thrillers. I would not not write a review if it wasn't good.
The Stepford Wives (2004)
A good movie on all accounts
First of all, if they had not changed the remake to be different than the original than it would have been another cheap horror remake cashgrab.
That being said, this is a comedy first with a fairly balanced judgement on both genders.
It really stays true to the roots of the original in that it is an artistic representation of the benzodiazapine (Prozac) epidemic. To me a comedy is a better outlet than a horror to comment on this.. just saying.
Some of the jokes in this movie were extremely subtle and hilarious. Others not so much, but this is not a movie in which everyone will catch all the jokes.
The White Lotus (2021)
Does not disappoint
I first saw this on HBO max and thought to myself "this might not be good, but i'll try this show out anyways".
Turns out I have been binge watching this gem of a tv show. I enjoy it a lot, also it seems a bit different from most shows which is refreshing.
There is some good humor, and serious scenes which I also really enjoy. I am not done watching yet, but I am more than pleased with what this show has to offer.
If you have time then give this show a try- this will not leave you disappointed and hopefully it will be refreshing to you as well. The scenes have been aesthetically pleasurable too!
Mandy (2018)
This movie is so slow
I was extremely disappointed in this movie, it is beyond slow moving, some of the scenes you can barely hear the people talking. I am confused as to why this even has so many good reviews. Typically I love movies to do with horror, or in the woods scenes but this just didn't do it for me at all. I turned it off after watching it for 38 minutes, I even fast forwarded it a bit to see if it would stop being so slow. I was still unhappy with it. Honestly, I would not recommend this movie to anyone really. I don't like how boring it was, and the story line was not pleasing one bit. Hopefully this review helps.
Superstore (2015)
Stupidly Amazing
As someone who has worked retail most of their life, I really do like this show. Some content would be a mild laugh, but some of it was so funny I couldn't stop laughing. Definitely reminds me of working at Target especially on slow days.
Promising Young Woman (2020)
Just wow
This movie starts off as what you think will be a romantic story. This story line will keep you guessing. The colors and aesthetics of this movie blew me away. The color schemes and decor they used was very intriguing. Would definitely watch this movie again.
Big Little Lies (2017)
Keeps you guessing
This show pulls you in and makes you keep guessing what will happen next. Never a boring episode in my opinion. Even if it's just a show everyone in real life has problems, no matter how perfect their lives may seem. Love that about this show. It's realistic in that way.
