Abar Proloy (2023)
One of the finest series of Bengali Entertainment Industry
One of the finest series of Bengali Industry as well in Saswata Chatterjee's career. The best creation of Raj Chakraborty. No can think about the character which Saswata Chatterjee has played and he has certainly justified with his character by his acting skills and dialogue delivery. The character Saswata Chatterjee has portrayed in this age proves that age is just a no in any field. Of one has the calibre and potential then great things can be delivered at any time. The other actors has also played their part beautifully. The technicians also did a great job starting from the camera work, VFX.
Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story (2021)
The touch of Special Ops is missing
Except Kay Kay Menon, there is no such eye-catching performance from others. In the supporting cast, except Vinay Pathak everyone goes flat. As the main antagonist, Adil gave his best he could offer but other than that no one was impressing.
Story is very good for such a espionage thriller. It keeps you on the edge everytime with its screenplay but sometime it went very slowly, especially a last few minutes. Background score should be far better to make the screenplay and presentation more interesting and more engaging. In some scenes, it doesn't offer that feel due to lack of intricacy in the background music. It completely falls falt and can't knock the bell when it comes to choreography of action scenes. In most of the action scenes, the impudence for rarity in properly choreographed action sequences cherished all over, it doesnt give you the feel of reel in real.
Overall, I missed the touch of its prequel in this series but still it's good and keep you engaged due to its strong storyline and story telling capability of the directors.
Switzerland (2020)
Movie is as good as the beauty of Switzerland
Just tell me, according to IMDB user's rating both #Switzerland and #Dictionary rates with seven star. How it could be justified? Because, both the moviea are of romance genre with different sort of story, and the story of both movies are quite fantastic and not stereotyped. One will get some freshness from both the stories. Then Abir and his realistic acting skill what he is doing for so many years are constant in both movies. Now coming to the difference, first music and in this department Switzerland is the winner without no hesitation. Music of this movie is too much effective and comes to mind with a feel. Secondly, the acting of supporting cast is also too good in Switzerland. Everybody gave their 100%. Now coming to the main difference the heroine, how the acting of Rukmini can be compared with Nusrat. Not only in this movie, at overall level, till days the skill of Rukmini ia very much superior than Nusrat. The scene where she suspects on Abir for having affair with others, in that particular scene she just killed it with her expression and showing different sort of emotions, in my words she even overshadowed Abir with her performance. So I can't give 7 π to Switzerland, it atleast deserves one more extra.
Dictionary (2021)
Nothing will get apart from Abir
Subject wise the movie was quite good. But with her school of acting Nusrat should be casted opposite Abir, she won't deserve a chance. Abir is class actor, he may not have muscle, he may not that dance skill, he may not have that skill to be a super-human in Bengali movie what we used to see till a few years ago, but in his generation, considerably, he is one of the most talented actor of bong industry, it will not be wrong if I say, he is one of best actor ever bengali industry have produced. So, Nusrat opposite him looks like a furniture. But, yeah the story is good which I liked the most in this movie.
Bharat (2019)
Rating should be in negative
I want to give minus rating on this movie but couldn't be able to do that because of 2 reasons, first of that is unavailability of negative rating option and second is in this at least tried something a bit new otherwise since #Wanted in 2009 most of his movies story is more or less same with going bare body action sequence in the end but only different movie titles, directors, production houses, musicians, singers, actresses, antagonists, supporting casts can't always ensure actually different movies, rather different stories and screenplays are the most important ingredients to make different movies.
Ratsasan (2018)
A thriller gives the goosebumps
Am a fan of suspense drama with full of mystery specially if it belongs to psychological crime genre and this one is just fantastic. Hats off to the team of the movie who made such an exciting thriller. Talking about the movie, it has a strong storyline which is the main ingredient to deliver such a incredible piece in this genre, the script writing is also as good. The cinematography, screenplay and magical direction holds you till the end, the intensity of the incidents reflects thru it's music and at the same time it also tie you up in each frame. The climax is bit sloth & crancy, might be more intact, congealed and breathtaking, but not a bad one to finish off. Overall with its screenplay & cinematography it always raises an atmosphere where you keep on guessing.
Lastly, just want to say, in last few years, the south film industry has made the changes in the vision and views of content movie lovers and impressed a lot with its contents, story telling ability, risk taking capability in every genre, now a days the south movies couldn't be summed up with only masala action, larger than life portraits. And due to this, it can now attract the mass and the class from each corner of our country.
Baishe Srabon (2011)
One of few cult of Bengali Cinema
Can't express my feelings about the movie. This one is a piece of gem. The every element of this movie is quite fabulous, fascinating and laudable, starting from direction, story, screenplay, dialogue, acting, music everything. The main plus point is the acting. Every character has played their role so naturally with the glimpse of being lived the character in real. The another plus point in this movie is its dialogue. Yeah, many slangs have been used in the movie but you can't complain because these abusive language made the movie more realistic. The dialogues are straight forward that it can reach upto the mass, which can be remembered for long time. The x-factor of the movie is its music. Every single song will touch your soul.
Dwitiyo Purush (2020)
Genius is made once not twice
Don't watch this one with a hangover of #BaisheySrabon. Because that is among one of a few cult movies ever made in the history of Bengali cinema. But still the story has not enough power to make another classic and at the same time, the execution this time is not quite good. But still, Srijit Mukherjee tried to pull up as much as he can do. The take away from the entire movie is only Anirban as Khoka and his lumpen swag and accent. He has just created his own world where no one can belong to his league. Raima didn't get enough space to do something. The story is completely around two main characters played by Anirban & Parambrata and their life and the rat n mouse game between these two. The twist and turn around in the climax is quite good which can give you a bit of shock, otherwise there is nothing to follow on. Gourab in the character of a Police Officer has put down the thing most, he never looks fit in this role, he just couldn't carry his role. Music is also not quite fascinating which can be remembered for a long.
Nail Polish (2021)
Gripping content but unstisfactory title
First of all its a one man show! Manav Kaul, he just nailed it. But why the title is Nail Polish? Nowhere the title could be justified by its story. Even the word "Nail Polish" has been used only 2 or 3 times in entire story telling. Secondly, the movie is tagged as a thriller in the synopsis given by Zee5. But there is nothing evidentiary, no big turn & twists in the whole content which could form a proper suspense thriller, rather it is more of a courtroom drama with a touch of psychological angle. Everything was clear on the word go in the entire story of the movie, so the kind climax is there a bit expected, nothing like that which could make you think twice like a piece of #Asur or #TheRaikaarCase or #TheFamiluMan. But the story is so engaging and compact for its words of mouth that would be keeping you inclined in each frame. The screenplay was good till the climax but before the just before that, it lost its grip and link what the story builds up till then, and it looked like the climax has been appeared certainly. It will create many confusion throughout the entire story, it can arise many questions in your mind for the characters but everything has gone unanswered. You can't figure out the explanation of wh words what the movie will anticipate by its storyline. But yes, off course, the judgment what would be delivered at the edge of the end, it will make one think about our judiciary system. It will urge you to think whether the judgment is right?
This is completely one man show and that is Manav Kaul. He is the Hero of the movie, at the same time Heroine and villain also. He would just arrive, perform, win our hearts by his enthralling acting. On the note of acting, others have also done a quiet appreciable job.
Durgamati: The Myth (2020)
Not satisfying
Except the climax scene and last minute twist there is nothing in the whole cinema. Arshad Warsi has tried his best to pull out the things but he has not enough screen time here in this movie. He is a star actor who is very much underrated. What he is actually capable of he has shown in the TV Series #ASUR. Bhumi Pednekar who has the maximum screen time and the main lead in the movie, around whom the whole story was engraved, she buried down the magic of a psychological thriller completely. Sometimes looked like she is doing the staff forcibly and looking disastrous in the outfits and character of Durgamati. Her dialogue delivery looked like she is doing it due to any external influence. The dedication, dominance, fluency, spontaneity which are the basis requirement to portray a character, everything was missing in her acting in compared to her other characters what she has played till now. But story is good, screenplay is average and the missing pearl in the whole recipe is the direction which is completely vanished. And then overacting of the supporting star cast make things worse.
Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side (2020)
The Gem, The Genius, The Glow, The Glory
This is the best ever tv series so far created in the history of Indian Entertainment Industry. One may get psychic if anyone excessively involved in this Psychological thrilling at the time of watching and on the other hand if one missed a single scene, can completely messed up with the whole story and could be lost into a deep sea. There are so many layers in the story & screenplay which can easily engage every minute of yours and will tied you up with the wheel of events & emotions. The story writing is so fine, flawless & accurate and the timing is so impeccable that you would keep yourself busy for connecting all the dots. Every component of this series starting from acting, story, screenplay, music, direction everything is astonishing. It should get 10 on 10, atleast 9 not below that, but don't know why it is rated 8.5 in user rating in IMDB. I just wonder those who gives below 9 what more they are expecting. I would give 9.5 but can't able to do that because of non-availibity of fraction point rating system here, hence giving 9. This one is already rambling in the league of arsenal.
Special OPS (2020)
Remembered for many days
This is just outstanding. Can't ask for many more. It just tied you up for every minutes with its small small turn & twists in the story. Justva thrilling experience when you watch the series. The story & screenplay of the series is so engaging that you don't want to miss a second. Mr. Menon is just fabulous as the RAW Chief. His expression, talking, walking in the shadow of RAW Official is something noticible among the lot. Only low point in the series is its music/background music. The music is the emotional reflex of any story but here didn't get that taste what the other ingredients of the series were produced. The BGM throughout the whole sreen timing could be even better with some high blooded rock theme which can match up the persona & energy of the actors who played the RAW Official characters. In a few points, the music is just faded away, can't pull up the scene upto the level what was trying to be presented.
The Raikar Case (2020)
Just awesome
One word beutiful for the story line and the acting. Every actor from the mail leads to the one whose screen time is just for a few minutes have given strong effort. But could be even better if the direction pulled up some level
Badla (2019)
A perfect suspence thriller by the duos Mr. Bachchan and Tapsee
I always love the triller movies because the excitement and curiosity indicated in one frame for the next frames, the cat and mouse game between the characters, the riddles can create the confusion in the mind and lastly all the answers could be found in the climax by connecting all the dots and missing links. If one wants to experience these thing then has to watch the movie. It has all the fundamental elements which a good suspence thriller should have.
Starting from the story, the screenplay, the narration, the background music, the climax everything is just too good. The story has the enough power to play with your mind and also keep to you engage till the last shot. There is so much happening in the sequences that you could not afford to miss a single one if you are watching it first time. The narration of the story is so smooth you don't get any hick up in entire movie. The transition to climax is happened with the flow so beautifully that one can hardly realise. The confusions would not be cleared untill the climax. That is the power ab amazing story including the narration. It would entertain you on every scene. I could not found any negative but yes there are a very few scenes which are flamboyant. I don't think the quality would be hampered at all if those scenes are not there rather it looks more realistic.
The characters are so perfect and so clear one could realise watching the movie. On the course of performance one could not even raise a small question mark. Because of course, at one end it is Mr. Bachchan who has just done a poetic justice with his character and at other end Tapsee, she is famous to bring out this kind of character. Not only these two the other people have done also a good job to live upto their character on the screen.
The background score give the strong feeling about the scene. If anything which really disappoints that is the original music. It could be much more better but still at the end of the movie you would have hardly bothered about the original score because the story and the performance are so much impressing that can be negotiated easily. I must say you would be just lost into the quality of work of the movie at the end of it so much that you can't even think about any shortfall.
The Body (2019)
A suspense thriller without the enough elements
After watching the movie I don't understand what goes wrong for the movie and how a good story could be ended up with such a disaster. Yeah, the overall outcome is not a perfect piece, not up to the mark at all mainly due to the way of presentation and the wrecking climax.
On performance wise, the image of Emraan Hashmi might not be fitted into the character he has been playing but he has tried hardest as much as he can do. Shobita is also done a quite impressive work as per her character demands. Other supporting actors have also tried to do their own as much as required. And then it was only on Rishi Kapoor who did his everything to pull out and negate all odds. I think he did a superb job.
The basic story is very attractive but the narration and screenplay is just pathetic. In any suspence thriller the background music is a very important fundamental ingredient but in this case that is so sluggish and flat that sometimes it could not create the feel as per scene. In the storytelling, I could not understand the requirements of adding the horror angle. A few dreadful scenes are not even related to the story by any means. This is the biggest mess director has done with the screenplay. But yeah of course there are some interesting moments as well which could hold on your excitement. Actually due to the loose screenplay, after one or two thrilling scene the obvious boring scenes are arriving which would ruin all the interests and curiosity.
The frames just before the climax is not look like any missing link, it looks like something happened all of the sudden and you won't even get proper brief of that situation.
After all the cat and mouse play, when it enters into the climax, an unexpected theory has been presented. Its evident you would get something special at the end in every suspence thriller but that should be on the basic subject line. But in this movie, it miles away from the basic need. At the end, a question with Why might be striked regarding the climax as you could not found the bridge between the climax and remaining story.
Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship (2020)
A typical bollywood horror movie
This is a typical bollywood horror movie. We still a way behind from the work we have seen in hollywood, even the South Indian horror films are becoming better now a days. One can't expect a better than this in bollywood. Before watching it I really expected to get in some better experience but it drag me down very much, disappoints me a lot. But yeah Vicky has done quite commendable job with his character. And one more positive is the background music, it can give you the goosebumps, otherwise all the horrific scenes here and there are copied from one or other. I have to mention the climax, a terrible one in my opinion.
Karkat Rogue (2020)
Good murder mystery but not up to the mark
The series is based on the concept of cancer ailing patients. I always love to watch this kind of thriller series or movies. Again, though the concept and story of this murder mystery is quite pretty but the screenplay is very complicated like the diseases of cancer. There are many flawed moment in the story as per the situation and also some unaccountable scenes are there which have increased the lengths only. In the running time suddenly without any need sometimes the story goes to flashback. In a few scenes, there are overexposure of nudity and violence appeared which I don't think the situation did demand. But there are so many attracting elements present. If you go in terms of acting this is quite remarkable and but I couldn't enjoy as much as a proper suspence thriller of a murder mystery.
Mrs. Serial Killer (2020)
A complete suspence thrillerππ
A complete out and out thriller...such a nice one this is. Though I am very much obsessed with any suspence thriller or crime thriller that anything and everything in this genre I would like. But really, no doubt, the story and the background music is the most key things of this. The story telling is so clean and well-organized that it will keep engaging from start to end. Manoj Bajpayee with his impeccable proficiency and skilled quality of acting carried out the piece on his own. He looked so much effortless in his all presences. Mohit and Jacqueline supported him from shoulder to shoulder by their acting.
But I can't stop myself from mentioning the hindi accent of Jacqueline. Her hindi accent is so miserable and sluggish that it would make very intense scene funny out of nowhere. But there are not many such poor scenes of this course.
After watching the movie, I am totally surprised that I could not match the story with the poster. I am clueless why Manoj Bajpayee is not there in poster though he is an integral part of the story.
I also wonder, before this Shiris Kunder made a joke with the movie Joker and now this is a masterpiece he made. I don't know how he made but whatever he did he deserves a great appreciation.
Luka Chuppi (2019)
Comedy of errors with concept...πππ
A situational comedy based on a proper story. Concept of live-in relationship been told thru comedy with lots of humour. The role of three leading characters are played by Kartik, Kriti and Aparshakti are just amazing. The on-screen pairing of Kartik-Kriti is very much refreshing and their chemistry is the most engaging element of the movie. The others actors in supporting role also have done quite praising job but sometimes there was a overdose of cant and chaos is presented in a few scenes. There must be a special mention for Pankaj Tripathi and his skill. The music is also very much laudable.
If one like the situational comedy this the movie should watch out.
Thappad (2020)
Convey message of moral values in a relationship πππ
Very interesting concept. Please watch the movie to learn to maintain the ethics to be in a relationship. The sequence of episodes tell a hardest truth that one can't slap the other to his/her opposite just to show anger or frustration, it shouldn't be happened in the hit of the moment either. That is not only because of it's not our rights but at the same time it is actually is very much unlikely in our culture.
In every relation there must be the respect for each other. This increase the moral values and understanding to hold up the sweet of the relationship for a longer time. It surprise more in a relation, when sometimes a small sorry could do everything but don't know why people are happy to take a long path rather just saying a small word.
But many a times people really bother to make that count and pretend whatever happened is just a silly, small thing. The story of the movie asks to the people with this mindset that if a small thing happened for whatever reason then why we are not ready the easiest solution by saying a small word "Sorry". Again the word sorry itself could not do the justice with every wrong but yes, sometimes it is the most gracious way of being punished.
Geetha Govindam (2018)
An another stunner by Jodi of Devarakonda & Rashmika
This one is an another stunner by Jodi of two extremely talented on-screen duo Devarakonda and Rashmika. This one is the first movie by this Jodi and they made a poetic justice with their first on-screen appearance together. An intense romantic love story with different perspective of love. End of the day there is no difference in the story line between this one and #DearComrade but is the presentation of the story which differs them by a mile. Both of the lead actors have done extraordinary job. All the remaining elements in the movie are also as good as the strong idea of the movie but somewhere down the line the climax could not pull off the attraction as it should be. The movie can't keep on hold the excitement till the last frame due to the lack of moments in the climax. But still it has the potency to tied you up with the entertainment at best because of such on-screen magic generated by both lead actor & actress.
Dear Comrade (2019)
Devarakonda at his best as a Comrade
Dear Comrade is a movie you want to watch many times and even won't be bored, each time it will give you some fresh moments. The story line, the screenplay, the music, the direction everything is quite laudable. And more over, Devarakonda and Rashmika they are just awesome. They complement each other very good when they are there together in any scene. Both have done a fabulous job in this movie after Geetha Govindam. Sometimes, they bring back the magic of on-screen couple like Amitava-Rekha, Anil-Madhuri, Shahrukh-Kajol with their acting glimpse. Comes to the movie, it is a simple romantic story line between these two but from a different perspective. In my opinion, the director of the movie have done a commendable job by presenting the story with a different angle of love by mixing a bit of political element and the mannerism of a true Comrade. A like the idea.
Asur (2020)
Asur can be watched once due to its storytelling.
The movie is worthy to be watched especially in this era of Bengali cinema where 80 to 90 percentage movies are the remake of South. The story is quite unique with a different kind of aspects of romance. A bit of thrilling moment is also there before the climax which makes the movie more exciting. Both Abir and Jeet have done some quiet fabulous acting. But specially Abir, he is outstanding on his job as much as he have done in any Byomkesh or Sona Da movie. He is just exceptional and does justice with his role. I just want to ask Jeet why he
is wasting his talent by doing the commercial larger than life movies. I think he doesn't know what he could be capable of. But only the minus point in the movie is Nusrat. She got a good character to showcase her talent but could not justify with her acting. She just faded away between the two male leads. I was expecting something more from her. The music is also good.
So overall the movie is worth to watch once.
