Not the version you want
1 August 2020
Oscar Wilde's most brilliant play deserves a great cast. This one is fair. The one you WANT to see is the 1952 version with Michael Redgrave.

A MUST see

I am literally flabbergasted that anyone would give less than a 10 to this gem. Greagory Peck as Atticus Finch is one of the most incredible performances ever given.: understated and commanding it is his best and that's saying more than just a lot.

Perfect casting of a great work of art

From top to bottom the casting is as good as it gets with Dame Edith evans giving the performance of a lifetime. The wit of Wilde shines throughout and even the cringe worthy cuckoo bird in the garden scene can't spoil this gem.

Totally Noir

If you are a fan of Film Noir, this is a must see. Beginning to end the noir penchant for uneasiness is celebrated and, surprisingly, Hume Cronyn gives a stellar performance as an amoral lawyer.
