Hilarious + Under-appreciated
17 November 2011
I think the fact that so many people write this show off as unfunny or "too pretentious" just makes me like it that much more. Smart, dryly witty dialog + unexpected subject matter make this show a refreshingly inappropriate favorite of mine. No, it's not The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, or South Park + it's not supposed to be. It's different, odd, uncomfortable at times, + hilariously so.

Yes, the show's fans seem to be a rare breed, but mass popularity doesn't always equate to a better product. It just means that product is more palatable to the masses. Common. Allen Gregory is an acquired taste, not for everyone, + many will say it's hard to swallow, but I'm among the select few who enjoy + understand what the show is doing.

Thumbs up, Jonah. Thanks for not churning out another obvious, basic animated sitcom.

Fabulous

Aside from the fact that Elgin is the only black salon owner in Beverly Hills (which is enough of a reason for me to want to support him, frankly, as I'd like to encourage others to join him), he seems like a genuinely good-hearted person.

Also, I think the other "cast" members (workers at Elgin's salon) are each a piece of work. Lolita is my favorite, the big + beautiful sassy stylist with much confidence in her sexiness. Love her!

I'm a fan of the show, for sure, + it is severely underrated on this site + elsewhere. Give it a chance + watch for more than an episode. I'm sure you'll fall in love, as I have.

Quantum Eats

I think most of the negative comments on this show are ill-deserved. Marcel is a talented young chef + I find the creations of his team (particularly, the presentation of their fanciful eats) quite entertaining.

As for the cast drama, this is a reality series. It's the bread-and- butter (har har) of the genre. Give the show a really fair shot + don't let your hang-ups about Marcel (possibly influenced by his appearance on Top Chef) sour you to a really quite good series.

Hope it lasts for a while, as I think the food, the cast, + the little educational tidbits about the molecular gastronomy techniques make for a refreshing + informative experience. On a shallow note, Devon + Jarrid are cute.

Bon appetit.

Warning: Spoilers
I think my favorite part of this show was seeing the duo ad-lib when they went off-script + flubbed lines, prop placement, etc.

Spoiler alert: the part with the door swinging open unexpectedly + Rik's reaction, for instance, made this video for me. In all fairness, I am a big fan of the Bottom series. So, I might just be in love with Eddie + Richie to the point where they can do no comedic wrong in my eyes.

Also, I didn't watch the first two Bottom Live specials yet. Mostly because I just gravitated to this (the 3rd), the 4th, + the 5th live shows based on their titillating titles. Either way, I enjoyed this. Three thumbs up.

Oh, wait...that's not a thumb.

Brilliant

Anyone claiming that this show is boring, rubbish, or a waste of time needs their sense of humor tuned up. I've watched every episode + loved it from start to finish. No it is not Red Dwarf + it doesn't need to be.

Brilliant cast, brilliant deadpan comedic delivery, brilliant "moments" from a group of talented actors with turns at both heart-warming + laugh- inducing antics.

And to anyone with the general notion that "women aren't funny", you obviously haven't witnessed the hilarious Miranda Hart as Teal in this series. Lovely.
