Felidae (1994)
Very beautiful film
I have to say: this is probably the most beautiful film I have ever seen. Just the designs of the cats themselves reminded me of Don Bluth himself. It's not just beautiful, but it's also very dark and macabre.
If you think most Japanese anime is gore and blood, it's nothing compared to the sheer gore and violence here. Cats with their heads torn off, lab testing, guts and even a very poignant image of a pregnant cat with her unborn kittens torn out of her. Not to mention the infamous "sex scene" between two cats. Overall, it's a very dark, grim, and sad who-dunnit with animated cats, and an even better book by Akif Pirincci. Watch the film and read the book as well.
You'll never look at kitty-kitty the same way again.
Robin Hood (1973)
Wonderful, but so underrated
It really makes you wonder why can't Disney do more movies like this? I thought this was one of the most wonderful of any film that Disney ever made. Of course, the people of today do two things with this masterpiece: leave it unnoticed, or bash it to the ground, so they can watch some overrated stuff. Backgrounds: supreme, wonderful. Character designs: Done by the oh-so-wonderful Don Bluth, plus, this film has the most funniest villains ever to be shown on the silver screen (who wouldn't laugh at that mama's boy, Prince John?) and it as all kinds of emotion here: cute, mushy romance, a bit of drama here and there, and lots and lots of humor. Also, that little rabbit kid, Skippy, is one of the most adorable cartoon kids I've ever seen. One last things I'd like to add: the songs, some catchy and fun "Phony King of England" while some are really morose "Not in Nottingham". Overall, I give it two thumbs up.
Balto (1995)
Wonderful little tidbit
This is quite the film. Good backgrounds, wonderful style of the dogs, beautiful lighting, it's just a grand thing to watch. To those who haven't seen the film, you may want to go away from here, for the following sentences are spoilers. This film chronicles the true story of a dog that was part wolf, and who had to risk his life to get medicine for a bunch of ailing children, especially for little Rosy, the young owner of his sweetheart, Jenna. But a villainous husky, Steele, wants Jenna as well, and the rest, well, find out yourselves. A wonderful, underrated film with drama, romance, comedy, and all that stuff. This film gets it's well-deserved two thumbs up.
An American Tail (1986)
Cute, sad, and wonderful.
Ahh, Don Bluth, you're a legend (and no, I most certainly am not being sarcastic) a real legend and this movie only proves that. After NIMH became a flop in the box office, he teamed up with Spielburg, and they made this work of art. It's basically a movie where a little Russian mouse named Fievel is separated from his family as they're immigrating to the US. Poor thing, you can't help but want to comfort him and wipe his tears and such like that. Back to the plot, he's trying to find them, and along the way, he meets a street-wise mouse named Tony, encounters cats, and he makes friends with a cat (voice by the ever-so-funny Dom DeLouise). Overall, this is a grand film, has a few depressing scenes, catchy songs, and some of the cutest cartoon characters you'll ever see. Two thumbs up from me.
The Secret of NIMH (1982)
Bluth's best: A masterpiece never to be forgotten.
I watch this film, and think to myself: Why hasn't this won at least some kind of important award (Emmy, Grammy)? This was a masterpiece in the making, and yet it is so underrated because the likes of Pixar and such. Almost all the characters are likable: courageous Mrs. Brisby, went through all kinds of trouble to help her sick son, that loudmouthed Ms. Shrew, and ol' Jeremy, the comedic relief of this dark, dramatic film. It also surprises me that this movie got rated G with all the blood and themes here (not to mention the use of the word "Damn"), but then again, so did Watership Down (which got a U rating in the UK). So, in conclusion, this movie gets two thumbs up.
Animal Farm (1954)
Worthy of the novel.
Why it is that people call this rubbish and dumb, the world has yet to know. I thought it was one of the greatest (if not the darkest) animated film I've seen in my days. The movie stays true to the book written by George Orwell, except for the song and the ending, which I will not spoil for you.
For Britain's first animated feature, it seems to have made quite a success, well, almost. It seems that the CIA has taken over here, and well, I shouldn't go into detail. All I can say is this, a wonderful, dark, mature film. A word of warning though, this film is pretty dark and has some scenes of blood the kids might find scary. Overall, a good film.

Once Upon a Forest (1993)
An underrated classic!
OK, I'll say this now, this is one of the best animated films I've ever seen in my life. The question I have to ask is, WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND FILMS LIKE THIS? It has all kinds of stuff that makes an animation good, drama, a laugh or two, and peril. Why does everyone give this classic a 4 to 0 out of 10?!!!? That being said, this is basically an eco-toon, in which a poison is leaked into the village of Dapplewood, and it's up to 3 little "furlings" to find a flower to cure their sick friend, whose parents were tragically killed by the gas. Lots of people say that his makes humans look like the villain, they've obviously never saw the ending. This FernGully/Secret Of NIMH classic gets two thumbs up from me.
Watership Down (1978)
Amazing..simply amazing.....
I do not think that words alone can describe it, but one: EXCELLENT! Everything about it is grand, the backgrounds, the rabbits, everything is superb. What I like most about it is the fact that it didn't pull any punches when it was created. Yes, there is gory violence in it, but it shows viewers the true side of animals (yes, rabbits can get violent) and how they behave. So, if you have it at your local store, what are you doing reading this??!!???!! Get off this site and go BUY THIS FILM!!! It is well worth the time. Also worth mentioning is the book. Right up there with the movie.
