Muck (2015)
Total muck!
I watched this movie with low expectations (judging by other reviews) and...hell, they were right to diss this movie.
Plenty useless nudity, dumb decisions, off-screen kills, no plot. I get it... it is middle of the series but... you gotta add some plot to it and not extend the movie runtime by adding more and more tits and ass every 10 seconds. I gave it a 3 because I like the music throughout, some nice shots here and there and... Kane Hodder is in it. Though, for waaaay too short. Acting was mostly questionable but actors playing Noah, Kylie, Desiree and Troit did pretty well. Also, kills (most of them) were done off-screen. I love the scene where Mia impaled a guy on pitchfork though.
Do I recommend it? No really. Still... wanna see a sequel to learn about antagonists backstory.
Climax (2018)
DO NOT WATCH!!!
This has got to be one of the worst movies that I ever watched in my entire life. Simple words cannot describe how bad it was. Pile of piss and puke, is all I can say about this movie.
Do not watch it! I've watched milions of bad films in my life, by this one definitely takes the cake.
The Doll (2017)
Pile of crap!!
The doll is one of the these movies that lacks everything. LITERALLY! Acting is just dreadful, main protagonist have his occasional moments but it's nothing spectacular. Lighting is somehow good, yet the script and kills are made with such effed up quality. The only reason why I continued watching it was to see who The Doll really is. Although there is no explanation whatsoever. The plot is more hinted at than explained.
Don't waste your time! It ain't worth it!
Thriller (2018)
Simply bad!!!
The only good thing about it is the twist at the end of the film. Acting, kills and everything else kinda sucks. I was so bored, I even found it enjoyable
My Little Sister (2016)
Interesting take on slasher!
I didn't expect much from that movie. After watching the trailer I knew who is the final girl right away which kinda destroyed the movie for me. The backstory behind the killer is simple, something happened in his past - nothing new nor original. The lead actress did a solid performance (which undoubtedly could have been both better or worse) but nevertheless the movie was delivering at some point. It is made in quite rare way, because there is barely any dialogue throughout. There is a few suspenseful, well-paced moments in the movie but their nothing spectacular. Gore and blood here and there and beautiful scenery, some shots are amazing. For example, when protagonist girl finds killer's house in the middle of the woods, the shot is perfect and the music adds some 'amazement' elements to it.
Definitely isn't the best slasher out there but I'd give it a try.
The Stalker Club (2017)
Resembles Scream!
Nice twists, low budget although It's not an issue. I recommend it!
Serena Waits (2018)
Uneventful and boring!
I watched it! Don't watch it. Story is compelling but that's it! Nothing worth your time
Sweatshop (2009)
Twisted and Crazy!
Sweatshop is a piece of underrated throwback to 80's slashers. I see so many comments here saying that oversexed characters and dumb dialogue lines makes it worthless. The characters are cheesy, might even say that they are unlikable but their craziness and cartoon-like non existent personalities adds that little enjoyment to it if you think about it. Especially Miko(played by Julin) and Scotty(Peyton Wetzel) whose performance is highly satisfying. Other cast did overly okay, although it wasn't flawless and they could have done it better.
The movie starts off in abandoned factory where naked goth girl wakes up, being stalked by a massive guy with mask, and wielding a mammoth sledgehammer made of an anvil and a pipe. The killer looks gorgeous but he isn't the only villain. His two followers are mutant-like girls that looks like zombie mixed with harpy. Original killers are one thing, but lack of backstory removes a few crucial substance things. Well, it also adds a little mystery element and opens it's way to a sequel which will probably never see the daylight. Pity, because the main characters created a small universe and if they would all get magically resurrected come back in some TV show that continues Sweatshop story i'd watch it immediately.
The most enjoyable element in the whole film was outstandingly matched soundtrack and kills. Special effects during death scenes (at least some of them) made me say... What?!!! Originally made and ravishing deaths like jaw getting ripped off, legs getting crushed with big sledgehammer etc. No a lot of movies can do gore as good as it is here.
Without hesitation I can say that Sweatshop is one of my fav slashers ever. If you dislike the characters, try to imagine you're one of them. You'll feel pity for yourself when YOU die :-).
I totally recommend Sweatshop to every slasher fan out there!
Pinup Dolls on Ice (2013)
Better than it's predecessor!
After watching the first movie I was thinking it lacks something. Yeah, it had psychopath and some nudity but... no story behind the stalker. Second movie goes in the same direction, with lots of gore, nudity and killer named Moe who isn't a bad actor after all. Five pinups after 'party' in local trailer park are getting picked one by one by a grunting, ominously looking killer obsessed with ice. His backstory is explained in this movie but it is a bit of a disappointment. Kills are brutal but some of them are done off screen which isn't great. It wasn't easy to pick final girl and ending was a bit unexpected as well but for fans of slasher genre I can recommend it!
Butcher Boys (2012)
Had potential
It must be one of the craziest movies i've recently seen. The story is all over the place, everything is messed up but it actually made it look more... intriguing. Acting isn't the best but a butcher boys and lead actress did their bests. Than, comedy element comes in. This movie tries so hard to be like Deadpool mixed with Chainsaw Massacre, but on a worse level. Music is ok, so is the setting and camera angles although might be a little bit too shaky. First half of the movie set near derelict buildings of the city is a typical cat and mouse game, when protagonist got lost after running away from the butcher boys. I enjoy some running around once in a while but it leads us to the second half which... I gotta admit is unpredictable although a bit unexplained. I gave 5 stars and I really enjoyed watching it!
If you're into pseudo-slasher movies mixed with delicate comedy, watch it!!
