This movie was a tax scheme. Investors were told they could write off more than 100% of what they invested in the movie. This is, of course, impossible. The investors had to reimburse the government. I think "Lucky" went to the federal pen. Not surprisingly this movie is terrible. It bored me out of my skull when I saw it as a kid. Anyone who claims it is a good movie is out of their mind. William Shatner is at his best in this movie, which is to say he is hilariously hammy. I also recall having a nightmare about the wailing (no pun intended) theme song: "Looking for a frieeeeeend. Looking for a frieeeeeeeeend." The good thing about the movie is that the people responsible actually got what they deserved--hard time.

You would not have thought it possible for a comedy to have every joke it makes fall flat on its face. Lookwell is funny in the same way a really drunk guy who can't walk or speak properly but is trying really hard to do both is funny. It is indeed laughable, but only in its complete ineptitude, its remarkable ability to fail so thoroughly and consistently on every level.
My only possibly guess as to why so many people say they like this film is that they are the sort who, when seeing a comedian bomb horribly and terribly at a comedy club to the point of being booed off the stage, find this incredibly amusing. Or perhaps imagine this: imagine a comedian so unfunny that people cannot grasp the depths of his unfunny, and therefore convince themselves that he is must be intentionally trying to lampoon the whole concept of humor, although this is not the case.
Here's food for thought: Now everyone I know who has seen this video has a new word--Lookwell, v. To lookwell is to try really hard to be funny and to fail.

If you are "tempted" to see this because you enjoy bad movies, or you have the MST version DO NOT SUCCUMB TO TEMPTATION. The MST version has nothing going for it, even. It is merely a dull wasted 90 minutes of your life. DO NOT make the same mistake we did, and think it might be funny.
There is little more to say besides this. The plot? Does the plot really matter? A team of spies and agents who fly around in a submarine. That sounds funny, but I reiterate, it is not. They battle a force named Q that has come up with unmeltable ice. Again, not interesting. There is much dialog here, but it is all very difficult to listen too on account of being horribly dubbed.
