Nice special effects, nothing else special
13 December 2020
A predictable plot with some awkward acting can't be weighed against the quite well-done special effects of the animals talking. Obviously, as stated by others here, humour is a bit lacking in this 3rd episode, but overall they tried their best and gave me and my 9y old son a pleasant afternoon out in these miserable covid days

A good movie..needs a plot!
26 September 2005
This is one of the movies that seem promising at the start, stay so until the end but don't go anywhere. The plot is poor, with no clear storyline, apart from a girl who doesn't talk much, finds a dead body in her bathroom and starts getting paranoid with her husband. "Guernsey" is characterized by many (too) long, silent shots, which do give a pretty good atmosphere, but clearly lack some action. Everything Anna (the main character) does, has unclear reasons, and she therefore soon becomes a bit annoying ("Talk, girl, talk!"). All the intrigues and relationships between the main characters remain superficial, where some surprising turn in the plot could (and should) have mattered a lot. In summary, the movie is worth watching when you like a grisly ambiance created by silent scenes, but you'll need a real lot of patience if you're waiting for some action, or any at all.

Not as brilliant as "Jalla, Jalla!" but a great laugh
20 April 2004
If you're looking for real comedy and humor, this is the movie to watch. Especially if you like the previous movie, Jalla,Jalla! by the same director (and many of the same actors) this one is a must. However don't be disappointed if the quality is not as high as Fares's debut.

It's more filled with stupid jokes and the characters are not as thoroughly deepened as you would like. On the other hand, the plot (paper thin as it may be) very original and you feel good by it. Moreover the special effects are unexpectedly good for a swedish film. It may be clear that I liked this one very much and I can really recommend it! ...

Brilliant, delicate movie!
30 June 2003
This movie is another Must-see. Kind of like Fucking Amal, here also a girl (20) wants to discover the world. She leaves here village to go to the big city, but gets involved in some disappointing events. Her tries to discover love and sex are displayed very delicately, and the actress is convincing in her reservedness. She takes things as they are, not commenting but clearly showing her aversion against how things go in Brussels. Maybe some superfluous sexually tinted scenes, but not disturbing the delicate atmosphere. In other words, if you have the chance to see it, GO!! Don't expect much action, but the psychological portrait is brilliant.
