AEW delivers another fantastic PPV, featuring a (gruesome) match of the year candidate
20 November 2023
This PPV was pulled off incredibly by AEW from the Zero Hour pre-show with an entertaining build-up, to a non-stop thrill ride from first bell to last bell on the main card. It also had an unforgettable match of the year candidate in the mix, with Hangman Page vs Swerve Strickland Pt. 2 - as brutal as it was to watch, it really managed to stay true to the storytelling and keep you guessing throughout the entire match. In my opinion, every match delivered - including the most confusing match of the night at the end. Sting's last match of his illustrious career in California, alongside the incomparable Darby Allin and Adam Copeland was great. The new free agency signing was fulfilling and what many fans hoped for. The Young Bucks vs The Golden Jets (Jericho+Omega) was fun. For me, the ladder match came in a close second for match of the night, as it was action-packed and SO hard-hitting. It's a miracle no one was permanently mangled during it. Too many other high spots to mention. PPVs are definitely AEW's speciality and they knocked it out of the park. Side note: This Los Angeles capacity crowd did not disappoint and added a lot to the atmosphere for the evening.

Little Boy (2015)
9/10
Worth your time. A moving, heartfelt film I watched with my mother (who adored it) TWICE!
25 May 2023
This is a great little film, with a scene-stealing young actor playing the "little boy". The filmography, writing, acting, and all aspects are solid and make it well-worth the watch. The titular character is on a mission throughout, with all the twists and turns of real life. We found it to be a very enjoyable viewing. My mother gave it a VERY rare "A++" so you can tell how much she enjoyed it, and even insisted on watching it again the next day. I gave it 9/10 stars and highly recommend for anyone looking for an entertaining movie that will hold your interest from start to finish. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Music Box: Juice WRLD: Into The Abyss (2021)
Season 1, Episode 6
9/10
An honest, personal-as-it-gets look at a brilliant musician and kind, special human being.
6 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is a film pieced together in a unique way, by a fantastic director, mostly by using over 250 hours of Juice WRLD's own footage, posthumously, with Juice's mother's approval. It shows you the person Jarad (Juice WRLD) really was, in his own words - with zero judgment, and let's you come to your own conclusions. Personally, within 15 minutes, I loved this kid - he was so kind and genuine and honest. There are a few new interviews sprinkled in, including only those who appeared in Juice's personal footage and spent significant time with him during this period of his life, and who obviously knew him the most. It doesn't sugarcoat anything or make any excuses. This is who he was, brilliantly talented with vices and all, and it is as beautiful as it is tragic. A very different kind of documentary, and a tribute to a special person, and a life on fast-forward.

Creed III (2023)
7/10
Highly watchable, but not on the level of other Creed or Rocky films
4 April 2023
This is a film I have been looking forward to since its announcement - same as with all the more recent Rocky and Creed films. It has a very watchable story, solid acting and character arcs, as well as quality direction from Michael B. Jordan. I enjoyed it, but there were a few things missing unfortunately, which you should also pick up on after viewing. Certain previous storylines are almost ignored or left completely untouched - which was a glaring mistake in my opinion. I don't know if they were cut from the film or if that was an intentional creative decision - if the latter, I find one choice in particular to be a massive miss, and even just one heartfelt scene or flashback would've added so much to the heart of this film. Overall, it fits the franchise and it's worth the watch - but I believe it to be the least intriguing of the Creed franchise (certainly not the best, as some reviewers have stated). Furthermore, I would only put it above Rocky V, if I were to rank ALL the films from the Creed+Rocky anthology. It's just missing a key acknowledgment or scene of some kind (any kind), that is too big to ignore - and managed to distract and subtract from the film by leaving it out.

Even still, Creed III is a solid 7/10 and worth the watch.

The Whale (2022)

Expertly made film, all around. Hold on to your heartstrings!
4 April 2023
This is, without a doubt - as I'm sure you've heard by now - Brendan Fraser at his absolute best. He mastered and conquered this very difficult, complex character with a beauty rarely seen in acting. I, for one, had no idea that he was capable of such an amazing performance - but he sure knocked this role out of the park, and then some. I am a longtime fan of Darren Aronofsky, with his brilliant realistic storytelling and clever direction - but he brings a whole new bunch of his set of skills to this film as well. Fraser definitely deserved his Best Actor Oscar win with his magnum opus - and a master class on transforming into a character. The only competition that truly came anywhere close this year, in my opinion, was Austin Butler's perfect embodiment of Elvis (However, we have not seen the last of Butler, and sometimes that's how the Oscars work, politically). I absolutely recommend this instant classic that will continue to tug at your heartstrings long after the credits. Just beautiful, through its ups and downs - as is life.

The most overrated pointless mess, travesty that it won so many Oscars
4 April 2023
This movie is a jumbled, hurried mess of a bunch of ideas that I feel everyone jumped on the bandwagon because they felt they were supposed to give it flowers that it does not even come close to deserving. It's a fast-paced whirling dervish of nonsense with little to no point. And don't even get me started on all it's undeserved wins at the Oscars - an absolute low for the Academy Awards, when there were other films FAR more deserving in nearly every category. It's an instant headache and one of the most dizzying annoying pieces of try-hard "art" ever captured on film. I cannot overstate how un-clever this film is, while some critics and fans must have been tricked into thinking it was a "must watch" - in reality, it is 140 minutes of blah, blah, blah combined with some nauseatingly fast action sequences. Not only is this this not worth watching in the slightest, it's one of the biggest wastes of time out there. You will likely be told: "just watch it!" (If you haven't already), but if you don't want to suffer through nearly 2.5 hours of utter garbage, I'd suggest skipping it. My score of 3/10 is being kind, due to the obvious amount of hard work that all involved put into making this ridiculous thing. It's jumbled rubbish - don't believe the hype.

Watchable and well-acted, but found myself losing interest
2 April 2023
I am a true crime junkie and was looking forward to this, especially with Keira Knightley & the local acting legend, Chris Cooper, who is from my neck of the woods in Greater Boston. But I found myself bored and almost falling asleep at times. It's an interesting untold part of the story, until now - but I expected more, being produced by Ridley Scott. It just lacks a lot of feeling and seems to drag. I don't know if I was just expecting too much, because it is a watchable film with quality acting, wardrobe and locations. I rarely find myself waiting for the end of film that is not super long, but this managed to disappoint in that way. I can't completely bash it though, it was okay. Just okay. 6/10.

The White Lotus (2021–2025)
10/10
Absolutely awesome.
12 January 2023
I've followed Mike White for most of his career and he has finally struck gold with The White Lotus - and I, for one, am so happy for him. This is a fantastic show, super entertaining, hilarious, and even has a hint of suspense. Really enjoyed both seasons so far. Excellent cast in Seasons 1 & 2 - especially Jennifer Coolidge. I hope there are many more seasons to come. A+ series with top-notch acting, writing & directing. The locations and cinematography are gorgeous, and it's a terrific juxtaposition when paired with the quirky soundtrack (the music really does grow on you, despite its initial strangeness). Well worth the watch!

Incredible

I was blown away by this film. Timothée Chalamet & Joel Edgerton were golden in their respective roles, once again. Have watched it multiple times and still want to see it again. A+ work all around, one of my favorite films of 2019.

Another fantastic PPV
10 June 2020
After their inaugural year of awesome entertainment, AEW continued their streak of delivering ONLY top-notch Pro Wrestling. Stadium Stampede was a match for the ages, and just a great example of their creative approach to keep things fresh.

Still solid

AEW Dark is used to keep the lesser used wrestlers on point or give new talent their live try-outs. Even the dark matches are very entertaining and follow the same format as premium AEW content.

Quality Pro Wrestling is back
4 June 2020
AEW has done what I've been waiting for since 2003 or so. I watched pro wrestling since the mid-80's at 4 years old. I watched every single show, every PPV, read every magazine and eventually every website article I could find. I was an active member on forums and chats about the industry. Then after attending Wrestlemania in 2002 I quickly started losing interest and within a year I had totally stopped being invested in it whatsoever. I thought I had outgrown in, until there were a couple glimmers of hope, few and far between that made me realize it just wasn't that good anymore. AEW has come along and I am hooked on every match and storyline. I absolutely love this company & the matches are so exciting. The talent is incredible. Thank you for saving Pro Wrestling and reigniting my longtime fandom.
