Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Excellent
The movie is simply excellent!
It's a visual slap in the face, even better than the first movie !
The graphics have been improved and enhanced, bringing a touch of freshness and innovation to this movie, eagerly awaited by every Spider-Man fan!
There are numerous references to comic books, video games and Spider-Man films and their various versions. The film hooked me from start to finish, the story is really captivating and very moving, we get attached to the characters of Miles and Gwen as well as to their story and the ordeals they had to endure.
Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse not only achieves the feat of being an excellent adaptation of the Spider-Verse, but also of being a sequel to the films, comics and video games, since we find the characters as we left them since their stories on the big and small screens.
It's impossible not to claim that with all these references!
I really enjoyed it!
Alibi.com 2 (2023)
Excellent !
One of the rare movie sequels that made me laugh as much as the first one!
I found that the story was very well constructed, the sequel makes sense and we discover with envy the adventures of the protagonists. I wonder what can happen in the head of these characters: each alibi built is behind another situation that will worsen the basic one, causing a chain reaction that the hero cannot prevent!
The family, the complicated relations of the hero with his parents, the lies, the secrets, and the farcical situations are there !
An excellent movie from La Bande à Fifi, which manages to renew itself with brio !
Bravo !
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania is a beautiful visual slap!
For this new opus, our heroes are embarked in a new universe which is not without reminding Star Wars: fantastic creatures, unknown people, ships, strange landscapes to cut the breath... The visual effects are really amazing and pleasant to look at, I really appreciated the settings in which the heroes evolve!
As for the story, it is both refreshing and innovative, managing to distinguish itself from the first two films by changing the atmosphere and the mood, making the scenario much more complex and serious. However, I found it a pity that some points of the story were left out or not detailed enough: Janet and Kang's story would have really gained in depth if the past and the character's motivations had been explored.
We also find among the heroes of the first two opuses some new characters, such as Cassie Lang, played by Kathryn Newton, who brilliantly embodies this new heroine in the making!
I liked the movie a lot, even if I would have liked a little more details in the scenario: at least that this one is treated in more detail than the visual effects were.
I can't wait to discover the continuation of this story in the future Marvel productions!
A Man Called Otto (2022)
A very beautiful movie !
The movie is wonderful, very nice and moving !
Tom Hanks plays a grumpy old man, an old troublemaker, on the edge of unpleasantness, who will meet his new neighbors, disrupting his routine and the relationships he has with others.
As the movie progresses, we discover the story of this lonely man, who lost the colors in his life, considering others as idiots, and we get attached to him, we understand better why he's acting like this and witch pains he has gone through. Despite everything, this character, although unpleasant is very open-minded about certain taboo subjects in society.
We find also a lot a comic situations, while some situations are very serious, adding a human dimension to the film. I really laughed at some parts !
A Man Called Otto is a human movie, full of lessons and life moments, to share with friends and family !
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
A serie that honors the original series !
Very happy to have been able to find Captain Pike in this season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds which would have largely deserved more episodes!
We find the format of the original series compared to Star Trek : Discovery, with travels "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before!" In other words, an episode with a precise story without continuing in the next episode.
Moreover, Anson Mount makes a superb captain Pike and honors the character who had relatively few episodes in the original series...
A deserved prequel and adding its mark in the franchise!
Vortex (2022)
The serie is perfect !
A window to the past magically opens, and a police commander sees an opportunity to save his wife who died a few days before her accident.
Thanks to the appearance of this "Vortex", he interacts with her to change history, even if it means facing unexpected consequences.
The actors are persuasives and we face human situations that lead us to reflect on several questions: can we change the course of history ? Is this right ? Is this moral? Should we do it?
The characters are touching, moving and their story complex, we quickly get attached to them and we wonder at the end of an episode what will be the next one.
I highly recommend it to science fiction fans !
Happy Nous Year (2022)
An original short format
A very good discovery !
The choice of format is interesting, we could think that 59 minutes is not enough long and yet it's more than enough for the story.
It's the same for the actors, a reduced team with Kev Adams and Camille Lelouche during most of the movie, even if the story talks about the fact that they are stuck together in an elevator, it is managed to take us beyond this situation to make us discover an imaginary world that we would not necessarily expect.
The scenes are funny, the images successful and the story is also touching and human.
I particularly appreciated, a good moment of escape !
His Dark Materials (2019)
A well-crafted series with a finale that lives up to its expectations!
His Dark Materials is a series that has succeeded where its predecessor in 2007 (His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass) did not: to conclude the famous trilogy launched by Philip Pullman.
The story is gripping from beginning to end, we are taken into the world of Lyra and Pan as we can be taken from one world to another; the plot is intriguing and we wonder what will happen next.
The presence of famous actors in the saga, such as James McAvoy, Dafnee Keen or Ruth Wilson adds depth to their characters and immerses us in a vast fantasy universe.
The special effects are convincing and rather well done, the series led by a masterful hand by HBO has nothing to envy to other series.
M3GAN (2022)
An interesting movie about the dangers of artificial intelligence.
M3GAN is the perfect friend, an android designed to play, to listen to children but also to lighten the parents' burden in terms of their education: she doesn't get tired, she doesn't eat, she doesn't sleep... she's perfect, listening, constantly learning and is ready to do anything, to make her "primary user" happy, even if it means committing horrible actions without questioning her choices. This proves the expression that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions", which applies here to M3GAN.
The film is well constructed, somewhat reminiscent of the "Chucky" doll and shows an alternative future where advances in technology could indeed lead to this kind of "robot toy", which contrary to its main purpose, would seek to break away from the grip of its human creator and become independent.
I loved the humor of M3GAN, the film deals with both serious, fictional subjects while adding a touch of macabre: sordid !
Great !
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Definitely worth the wait !
Definitely worth the wait !
3 hours happens without thinking of it, with wonderful visual effects and a beautiful story !
We meet new characters, including Jake and Ney'tiri's children, the water people as well as the return of characters from the first opus, giving a real story that makes sense, all these years after the release of the first film.
A story centered on the family, and the inhabitants of Pandora facing a human invader full of himself and without consideration for the habitat and the people who surround him!
We realize the human stupidity by being from the point of view of the Na'vi, people oppressed by their human invaders who give them no consideration, even if some characters manage to save the day by feeling an ounce of empathy.
I absolutely recommend it !
