The Irregulars (2021)
Refreshing take on the Sherlock Holmes saga
Firstly, don't watch this expecting to see a Basil Rathbone clone. This is about the Baker Street Irregulars, magic, and the supernatural in a diverse Victorian England.
Secondly, don't confuse this with a period piece. It just happens to take place in some version of turn of the century UK where sexual orientation, skin color and race are totally irrelevant to the story. That was my favorite part. Multicultural actors working without a grievance mandate make for a refreshing tale .
Surely, some of the plots and dialog are corny, but it is a pleasant diversion.
Äkta människor (2012)
Real Humans. The brits remade it as just Humans
Uk tv remade this series in 2015. Same names and plot. Both rollicking good stories. The British one had Gemma Chan. Say no more.
Much about the pitfalls of intelligent Androids "Hubots" or "Synths" but more about the inability of simple humans to deal and adapt.
Whether you watch the Swedish version or the English version is merely a subtitle preference, although this one has more nudity.
The Good Doctor: Irresponsible Salad Bar Practices (2021)
Stop, please stop
I know those is supposedly San Jose, but can we please stop with the woke BS? It's like every single rare circumstance that might show up is stuffed into this episode. I won't list them to avoid spoilers. Just imagine every trigger related to race or LGBT issues and you will get the gist.
Bramwell: Episode #1.3 (1995)
Was this really the state of 19th century medicine?
Idris Elba in one of his earliest roles as the father of a biracial child birth in 1890 England. This episode deserves a much better rating as it shines a harsh light on attitudes in mostly white London, with the worst stereotypes. Some would say we have not progressed that much in 100 years.
