The Wind (2018)
Great slow burn
Interesting slow burn folk horror, ffo the witch, etc
The Droving (2020)
Great british folk horror
Well acted, well made on a micro budget.
Typical unfair ratings for low budget cinema.
Ffo: kill list
Hex (2017)
Shocking ratings on here
I'm a big fan of folk horror, and enjoyed the directors other film "the droving" as well.
Well acted, great costume and prop design, and some truly beautiful cinematography. The film is a very slow burner (which is a style I really enjoy). It's basically an hour and a half of tension.
Ffo: a field in England, witch, etc
The Inside (2012)
Very unfair rating on here should be 5/10
7/10 is generous, really it's a 5/10 but the user ratings are unfairly low.
75% of the film is found footage and tbh that's the all the film should have been, the none found footage parts are unnecessary and kind of stupid.
But overall the acting is convincing, and there's some genuinely unnerving parts, uncomfortable watching (which is kind of what you're looking for in a horror). Worth your time, but not a film you'd revisit particularly.
Webcast (2018)
Grey indie film
Genuinely enjoyed, for fans of kill list, apostle, gritty british occult horror
My advice is to end the film about 5 minutes before the actual finish, it's far more satisfying that way
A Dark Song (2016)
Great slow burner
I've advised this repeatedly to fellow fans of horror/occult stuff
Great film, great performances, slow burn and it makes you think and then go away and Wikipedia all the stuff that happens
