Wednesday (2022)
Surprisingly good
I expected this to be another typical failed reboot full of identity politics beating viewers over the head. There is some of it to be sure, but it was minimal and tolerable.
My main complaint is Gomez felt miscast. I read that Tim Burton wanted to cast a shorter fatter actor as this was how the character was originally written. Luis Guzman is a great character actor when playing gangsters, but the hoodrat vibes just felt out of place. Also uncle Fester was annoying. For some reason he was portrayed as jewish saying things like "oy vey". It made no sense.
Those things aside, it was a joy to watch the actress playing Wednesday and her deadpan delivery.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
A disgrace to Star Wars
It you gave 100 monkeys typewriters and a few hundred million dollar budget, the result would be better than this garbage. JJ is a hack, but to be fair he had nothing left to work with after Ryan Johnson's hot mess.
The New Pope (2020)
Nowhere near as good as the New Pope
Let me start by saying I consider John Malkovich to be the most overrated actor of our generation. I have a hard time watching anything he is in, but he was bearable in this. The real shortcomings are the gratuitous nudity and clunky attempts at humor. Name dropping Megan Markle wasn't funny the first time, but by the sixth time it was totally cringy. Also you can tell they thought it was clever to make the pope a fan of Marilyn Manson, but it just came off as cheesy and done for shock value. Don't even get me started on the typical leftist garbage like feminism and immigration injected into the plot for the usual subversive reasons.
All in all, the series is disappointing because it could have been so much more.
The Smiley Face Killers (2014)
Misrepresented as a documentary
It wasn't until the retarded ending that I suspected this was fake. It's basically a shameless self promotion video making use of real tragedies for self-promotion. I was also revolted by the dialogue during the dummy test. Very disrespectful.
Peaky Blinders: Mr. Jones (2019)
Why are they bringing dead characters back to life?
The fact that someone can survive being shot in the head at point blank range with a .45 is absurd enough, but is Tommy really such an incompetent idiot that he wouldn't have made sure Alfie was really dead? It boils down to lazy dumb writing!
The message of this season is "fascism man bad", despite the fact that it never presents us a reason why Tommy would be so against Mosley. This was pre-WW2 and fascism wasn't the boogeyman it is today. Typical leftist propaganda that has infected mass media today.
Peaky Blinders: The Shock (2019)
A Rastafarian sitting in on PB family meeting????????? What?????
This woke nonsense is just over the top. The only characters I actually like are Oswald Mosley and the Billy Boys.
Peaky Blinders: Strategy (2019)
Gender and race politics ruined it
I am still trying to figure out why Polly threatened to kill the nuns for making black kids use different soap and lynching a kid. Who the hell comes up with this idiocy?
Peaky Blinders: Black Tuesday (2019)
Woke garbage ruins another series
The strong wamen are now running everything. Ada is pregnant by a black guy who is also an intelligence agent. Polly rambles about how the baby will have beautiful golden skin. By episode 3 Polly is yelling at nuns about making black kids wash with a different bar of soap and lynching a black kid. None of this makes any damn sense and was just grafted in for woke points. Plus the style is annoying as hell. It's like some weird Guy Ritchie avant-garde mashup. What a disappointment.
Stranger Things: Chapter One: Suzie, Do You Copy? (2019)
OK but not as good as seasons 1 and 2.
Maybe it's just fatigue, but Season 3 just doesn't have the charm that Seasons 1 and 2 had. It just feels too much like more of the same. The chemistry between Hopper and Joyce is just weird and their comedic interpersonal dynamic feels kind of forced. The gang is now teens and we have to wade through their angst. For the majority of the series the most lovable character Dustin isn't even with the main gang and the plot suffered because of it. Lastly the whole Russian thing was just too implausible. I know...I know... the whole series is kind of implausible, but the logistics of building a Russian military base on US soil? Come on!
Here's a novel idea: make season 4 with an entirely new cast, new setting/town and new plot device. Is this risky? Yes. But no more risky than becoming stale and tired. All of that being said, it was still entertaining and worth the watch, but it slightly missed the mark for me.
The Next Karate Kid (1994)
Evil White Men -The Movie
I am revisiting the old Karate Kid films because I love the Cobra Kai series. This was the only one I hadn't seen before, and I really didn't miss anything. The plot is nonsensical and the acting horrible. Every white man seems to be a psycho because...well just because. I could go on and on, but what's the point? It was trash designed to squeeze the last few shekels out of a dying franchise.
Russian Doll (2019)
Degenerate tripe!
The characters were unlikable, the dialogue is terrible and it is totally unfunny. It's as if the feminist nutjobs at the Mary Sue compiled all of their cringey ideas and made it into a tv series. I knew within the first 5 minutes how bad this would be, but suffered through the first episode because my girlfriend was curious. When it ended I turned it off and told her we will never be watching that again.
