Farzi (2023)
Stretched too long
The series began with an electrifying punch, serving up a thrilling mix of suspense, comedy, and stellar performances. The initial episodes had all the right ingredients to hook you in. However, somewhere along the way, it lost its sharp edge. The middle episodes seemed unnecessarily stretched, and the final couple of installments, well, they were a bit of a drag. The cast's performances were commendable, with Kay Kay Menon, as always, delivering a brilliant watch. Shahid Kapoor managed to bring the star aura to the show, and nothing more, while his partner-in-crime was really good!
While it had its ups and downs, 'Farzi' still manages to deal a good hand of entertainment.
Mrs Undercover (2023)
The only saving grace is Radhika Apte
As usual Radhika Apte as the protagonist is brilliant. She was able to keep me from signing off early. But, couldn't manage to hang on till the end. Those who could, they are indeed some brave souls!
The film started very well though. And Sumeet Vyas did pretty well to create a good suspense.
Disappointed to see that the plot couldn't manage to hold it for long as the balance between the comedy and suspense got distorted. I think Over-the-top comedy and silly actions spoiled the show for me!
I was really hoping to see something good from Zee5 for a change, but ... My bad luck I guess 😕
5/10 from me. Solely for Radhika.
Rebecca (1940)
Thoroughly enjoyable even in 2022
Even while watching this classic in 2022, a good 82 years after the movie was released, Sir Hitchcock could get me engrossed into the groove all the way till end!
With powerful portrayals, plot twists, subtle Hitchcockian nuances, and the almighty background score, it was a great watch even though you're psychologically biased by the towering presence of anything Hitchcock!
What a great performance by Joan Fontaine and Judith Anderson, who made the invisible protagonist Rebecca being felt inside the Mandalay. George Sanders in a short role was excellent. However, I found Sir Laurence's performance a bit subdued.
Jugaadistan (2022)
Could have been a brilliant Crime - Drama, but ...
Watchable. Too many characters and sub-plots drifted the core story in too many directions, which impacted the quality of watching. It had the potential to be a gripping crime drama, but the series squandered that trying to bring too many elements too quickly. The ending too was done in a hurry, leaving you dissatisfied.
While Ruhi stole the show, Sumeet Vyas's character - Bhati - did not fit the negative character well. Gopal Datt as Nadeem was really good too!
Gehraiyaan (2022)
The cocktail of breathtaking landscapes , some bold skin shows, and good music.
Not bad for a lazy watch. The story is weak though. What saves the film is the powerful romantic drama between the characters. The cast is pretty good. Watch out for Ananya Pandey. She shines the brightest though the film solely wraps around Deepika, who by the way looks just 'ok'. Rather a bit oldish in the company of the other youngsters. Sidhhant tries to do an Emraan Hashmi, and gets away with it.
The Fame Game (2022)
Dil dhak dhak nahi kiya!
Scarcely good moments of twist, slow and boring narrative, under developed characters, and an aging Madhuri Dixit in the middle of a messy plot.
That's how I can sum up this series. Yes, it even fits in one single tweet. Disappointed.
House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths (2021)
Something that keeps haunting
This docu series literally haunts me time to time. Because the whole thing is so weird and creepy that I sincerely wish it was a fiction. But it was not. It shocked me so hard. Kudos to the whole team who painstakingly put together the whole thing and stitched them together with a strong narration. This is definitely One of the best shows I watched on Netflix in 2021.
Madhuram (2021)
A sweet that wasn't sweet enough!!
As A non-mallu - bored to death by typical Bolly porboilers, and drawn into the world of Malayali cinemas in search for refreshing stories - Madhuram really started really well for me. But, it stretched itself a bit too long, and started losing its freshness halfway. I wish it could be a bit sweeter!!
Chehre (2021)
A chehre that I wish I didn't see!
Though it started well, the film soon fell into the clutches of typical bolly formulas that bore you to sleep. Despite some good performances, I hardly liked the film. Those deep baritone dialogues of Sr Bachchan are cliched now. Don't they?
Tabbar (2021)
Strong performances, well made series that keep you hooked
How fate can change forever with a small lapse of judgement!! As the show progresses, you can't help but to get yourself pulled in to the story with unusual twists and turns. One of the best Indian tv shows We watched in 2021! That said, The final episode could have been a bit better I feel.
La casa de papel: Vivir muchas vidas (2021)
So much disappointing
Really? Money heist is going downhill since last season. And it seems like mindless action now which even Bollywood potboilers too wouldn't dare to do :)
somebody catching grenade and throwing it back. That's it gor me. Time to say byr bye to one of my most beloved series.
Hate to see such pathetic downgrading of this cult show.
Bicchoo Ka Khel (2020)
An average thriller with a bit of sex and comedy
It's pretty average and at times boring too. But not downright skip-worthy. Watch if you are not expecting a High intense thriller!
Gullak (2019)
Can not be better than this - Pure Bliss!!
What an experience. This is the best We have watched so far on OTT content. Finding a pure play, family drama these days are almost rare amidst the tons of crime thriller shows. I hope they make the season 2 soon.
Criminal Justice (2019)
Started with waah - ended in a duh!
First few episodes had a great start and built a premise to be very gripping. But, eventually ended up dragging the whole plot to a poor end.
Pankaj Tripathi is as usual brilliant. The jail scenes were well done. And gives a rare glimpse of how brutal and broken our prisons are.
Section 375 (2019)
Excellent and Gripping Court room Drama
They usually do not make such no-frill, edge of the seat, no-nonsense, measured yet firmly gripping drama in Bollywood.
It is a rare Bollywood film that I have watched with out moving an inch from my seat. You know what I mean!
Extraction (2020)
Mindless action and waste of time
The only applause should go to the cinematography and art directors. Rest are pretty average. If you are a crazy fan of mindless gun actions, this is for you. This even can beat a stupid Bollywood action flick that screws up every logic ever exist in your brain.
Jawaani Jaaneman (2020)
Test your patience
Who call sex 'sambhog'? And that too modern, British Indians, who frequent night clubs, and sleeps around every where? That sums up my level of frustration with this movie.
Lesson learnt: don't taje the IMDB ratings for Indian movies seriously!!
