Gisaengchung (2019)
Did I missed something?
Movie was ok. Mostly about people who are maintenance seekers in the life and how they con a simple and vulnerable family, who paid the price for being straight.
Anyway suspence was good but it left a lot to be desired. If there was some hidden message other than what I said then we'll I missed something.
Baazi (1984)
Baazi has it all
Bollywood can be categorized as the formula industry meaning if mass like one story and make it hit you will see almost dozens film with same plot and theme. This happens even in Hollywood so the year 80-90 was time of action movies for bollywood; we seen movies like 'Boxer', 'Baazi' 'Karz', 'Namak Halal'...on same year.
Talking about Baazi its a friendship, sacrifice, revenger, romantic, action all formula movie. Dependable Dharmendra did a good job like small guy from village Mithun. A scene where Mithun sits for Namaaz in between action sequence and villain is trying to cut him into pieces and Dharmendra tries to protect him when he (Mithun) lifts his hand to pray and see Dharmedra's blood is done well. Mithun is shown very religious in this movie. The chemistry between Rekha and Dharmedra is good and also between Mithun and Ranjeeta; Ranjeeta owns a small hotel in the village where Mithun also come and their screen chemistry is portrayed very well. Dharmedra loose his family when Shakti kapoor gang kills his wife Rekha and wants to take revenge and with the help of Mithun he nails the killers; half time of the movie revolves around the Dharmedra revenge. The action scenes are good as usual for a Raj N Sippy movies and the story line is not that rare but the way it is done is good to watch. Music is overall good and a song between Rekha and Dharmedra is quite memorable. This movie also shows the Hindu-Muslim friendship and how one is ready to sacrifice his life for other.
All I can say is quite good movie to watch at least once. I will rate it 7 out 10 overall.
Om Shanti Om (2007)
It taken me by surprise.....
First of all I am not a fan of Shahrukh Khan and sometime admitting this fact is considered to be offensive; anyways lets talk about Om Shanti Om. The movie taken me by surprise; I had no expectation still brought DVD to add it to my new Bollywood Movies collection and started watching it on weekend sipping tea before going to bath ...I was just waiting for that usual bore moment to stop the movie and take a shower....but I surprisingly completed the whole movie before shower. There are some moments where it feels like dragging but still movie has great music and that let you remain seated. Story is typical incarnation stuff that we seen in yesteryear movies; even old dialogs used in the movie looks very funny. Shahrukh has done a tremendous job and I liked his energy in the movie; especially the South Indian actor role he done was well made and shows the much misunderstood lighter side of it. Other actors also performed well like the main actress Deepika and Shreyas Talpade is great. Arjun Rampal is good as usual.
Had there been new story when all the movie set and costumes are shown of 70s then it would not have been a good movie....so I think people watching the movie knew from start what is coming next and that is the strength of the movie and Farah Khan did the great job by showing us the things differently; the Manoj Kumar part was not funny though. The twist or lack of there of was taken from Madhumati and make sense for a good ending...but second part is not made in style and the revenge element is visible enough to eat up the whole humor and we knew where the movie is moving now...
Still great movie, old style set and more closer look to the life of people behind and front of the camera....I would give this movie 6 out of 10 overall and can say that it is watchable even if you don't want to spend sometime before shower..
Boxer (1984)
Bollywood's Raging Bull
I have seen many Mithun's movie this one is totally different from other movies of that time. I like director Raj N Sippy, in the past he has given memorable movies like Baazi,Satte Pe Satta etc.Danny also has done a great job in this movie he has portrayed the role of Mithun's father (they are almost of same age) , but Danny did it with fine maturity and courage. The story revolves around the Boxer who has to win his last fight to get back his dignity which his Father lost once in the same arena.
The story is very emotional and certainly enjoyable. I would give it as 8 out of 10.
Salinui chueok (2003)
Great movie with some great acting
I have seen this movie after recommendation from my friend. I like the mystery/suspense genre of movies, if anyone has seen the 'The Pledge' by Sean Penn where the main lead was played by legend Jack Nicholson then somewhere you will find the both story meets at some point in the movie. The actors are superb. The movie is all about the serial killer who kills womens on rainy day and whenever there is song 'Sad Letter'is played on radio. But nobody has clue who is the killer, the movie is bit over stretched, but the good thing is that the suspense remained through out. The detective from Seol joins the investigation and he is the one who actually do progress to find some facts which make this movie interesting to watch. But killer is too smart for them and the chase begins for nailing him.
The problem about these kind of movies are that more and more short lived characters are introduced just to divert the curious viewer's interest to somebody else who actually has not killed anyone, but all evidence are found against him. Movie is superb and it retain the tension behind the complex characters and the relationship the detectives shared their anger, jealousy and competition are clear and understood well.
The ending is also satisfying and it made sense because the case which is not solved ever in Korea is not manipulated into some strange ending.
So friends what are you waiting for go and watch this movie and enjoy the suspense.
Don (2006)
Simply boring
This is rubbish you start with a legend and then you end up in a flop show. And this hurts when one of your favorite Director does this to you. I liked Lakhsya, Dil Chahta Hai from Farhan but this one is shame. This movie could be better without SRK the other choice of actor who has done justice to this role would be Abhishek Bachan or Amir Khan and not SRK. Time is coming when SRK is gradually showing his capability that he is good for nothing...in the past he has made those movies hit which are superb in direction, script and dialog. I thought a man like Farhan could make him act but he too failed, he looked similar through out the film. Amitabh in the original DON (1978) seems to be two different personality Don and Vijay as if it is played by two person, but in this Movie what you can expect. The locations were good and great camera work dialogs are also up to the mark because mostly from the original movie. The story is bit twisted in the end and it was painful that Farhan did that. I can say Arjun Rampal was good in Pran's shoes his role was not much as Pran has in Original Don but he has done the justice the frustration was visible in his face. Boman Irani is a good actor but either he can be good guy or bad but not both, and he certainly can't act better as a bad guy because his face doesn't says shows even in his cooked wicked scenes.
Overall great locations but not so interesting movie...direction is also haphazard can't compare with the original one.......In short Fully Faltooo
