Breaking Bad (2008)
One of the 5 series you gotta watch before you die
Straight to the point: maybe the BEST series ever made. Not only the casting is supreme, not only you don't see the twists, not only you think that you know what will happen, who will die when (and you get to be sorely mistaken), but literary EVERYTHING. Characters are DEEP, not only 2-3 main ones, but ALL of them. The dialogues are supreme, there is no unneccesary grandioze-but-empty monologues...
Only thing you will NOT find here is eye-bluring and mind-boggling special efects. From the top of my mind, I think the biggest effects are few explosions, and pistol firing.
All in all, this series prooves, beyond reasonable doubt, that a great scenario and great writer beats best Hollywood special effects team in every occasion.
Personally ,top 6: Breaking bad, Wire, West Wing, Chernobil, Silicon Valley and Expanse are 6 series you have to watch before you die.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Very entertaining!
This is in line with other Disney cartoons, however, it is exceptionally entertaining and funny. Best sunday afternoon family in front TV spent time. I just don't know why IMBD insists on 150 characters, though.
Sniper: Assassin's End (2020)
I was taken.
With logical flaws that begs the question "How these guys ever survived training school, let alone first mission?"
With flawed storyline where you actually don't understand how is something humanly possible.
With bad acting.
With stereotypical shots.
Etc.etc.
Movie would be so boring, if it weren't so bad.
Supernatural: Don't Call Me Shurley (2016)
Wow
I cannot say why I love this episode. Really. It somehow hit me, even made me cry.
I agree with people here - you will either love this episode or not. You will either find this episode's dialog between G-d and Metatron amazing,or trivial.
Supernatural: The French Mistake (2011)
Great!
Best breaking of 4th wall I've ever seen. Couldn't stop laughing. Also, boys are acting great on this one. Only disappointed that producers and others didn't actually play their respective roles.
Conan the Barbarian (1982)
Come on, people... Conan!
It is so iconic that it triggered a cascade that has now culture root - in DnD, fandom, everywhere...
This possibly cannot be rated under 8.
Coded Bias (2020)
Poor
Great camera and editing.
"Experts" in the documentary is everything but experts. They use terminology without even knowing what these words mean, let alone how the technology is created, used, what are its natural drawbacks and what are advantages.
Pure example: the documentary is filled with expressions like "algorithms are sexist", "algorithms are threat to society and freedom of speech".
If you check the definition of algorithm, you will see that it is "a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer. "a basic algorithm for division" (from Oxford Dictionary)".
So, it is a plan of getting from point a to point b. Recipe for a cake is an algorithm for a cake. A route in your GPS is an algorithm. Etc.
Now so recipes and GPS routes are sexist and threat to freedom of speech.
Take a note here who are speakers in the documentary - do you see a programers? No. Do you see coders (yes, that is different)? No. Do you see at least product developers or something like that? No.
You see authors of dubious books (which now I am not inclined to read), random people on the streets, who knows who - except the people in it. So, next time you want to know something about electronics, please ask a local sailor, random hairdresser and a surgeon.
Because this is exactly what this documentary do.
Full Metal Jacket (1987)
You wanna know how this film is like?
No other movie has so many memorable quotes.
Several of movie caps are made meme.
Several of the actors from this movie made a name - from anonymity before, to a famous after.
You want to know why I rated it this high? Because this is one of the 5 best movies I've ever seen. Just... Just watch it.
