Count Dracula (1977)
The best adaptation of the book
One of the best adaptations in the book.
This version doesn't try to lure audiences in with a kind of tragic fairy tale about a romance forbidden to female audiences. The classics do show the danger of manipulation and seduction, predators that are manipulative and that destroy people.
I love war and peace by Serguey Bondarchuk for not romanticizing the Anatole and Natasha relationship, but showing natasha's foolish decision.
Dracula who is a refined and seductive aristocrat, but a dark man, he manipulates his victims and destroys them.
The Musketeers (2014)
A mediocre series on the history of France
Lots of historical errors, anachronism and real actions. A very mediocre series about France. The English should consult the history books more.
The BBC instead of making a historically accurate series about 17th century France, BBc produces a series with superficial characters, improbable actions and historical inaccuracies.
A writer like Leon Tolstoy is needed to develop a more quality story.
Braveheart (1995)
Serious errors and historical anachronisms, stupid manichaeism.
The movie is too weak. Characters without the slightest depth, a lot of Manicheism in the film, a lot of stupid catchphrases. I can be moved by the dichotomy freedom vs slavery, good versus evil, but it doesn't impress me as being too manichean. A clear division between good and evil in the characters, without the slightest moral complexity or humanity, there are ideal archetypes and not people.
Love (1927)
Ruined Tolstoy's book
All the psychological complexity of the story was eliminated in the film and it became a trite love story.
The History of the poet Fyodor Tyutchev and Elena Denisyeva inspired Tolstoy to develop the relationship between Anna and vronsky
The dramatic love story of Tyutchev is the young mistress Elena Denisyeva, a pupil of the institute where Tyutchev's daughters studied. To meet with her, the poet rented a separate apartment and, when the secret connection became apparent, he practically created a second family. For 14 years, Tyutchev, as it already happened once, was torn between two beloved women - a legal and "civil" spouse - unsuccessfully tried to make peace with the first and could not part with the second. But Elena suffered from this destructive passion much more: her father, friends abandoned her, it was possible to forget about the maid of honor's career - all doors were closed to her from now on.
Under the yoke of human disapproval, Denisyeva developed morbid irritability and irascibility. She came to religion but could not reconcile its principles with her position. Elena Tyutcheva loved passionately, madly and demandingly, so she suffered when her lover went weeks without visiting her.
All jealousy, Anna's insecurities that were inspired by Elena Denisyeva, were eliminated and Anna became a character without depth.
All of Tolstoy's sophisticated prose has been replaced by a coarse romanticism.
Troy (2004)
Horrible adaptation of Iliad.
A completely shallow film, with several clichés of hollywood cinema and for the intellectual level of homer simpson.
Ophelia (2018)
horrible
Feminist fanfiction without any existential complexity like Dostoevsky's books and shakespeare's plays.
