A Wilderness of Error (2020)
Bad Documentary
I am very disappointed in this so called "documentary". I am retired from the US Army and know for a fact how they do a lot of covering up when they goof up. I firmmly believe in Dt. MacDonald's innocence and feel the investigation was very inept. This "documentary" tends to go against Errol Morris's book and again condemns Dr. MacDonald.
Mysteries of the Abandoned (2017)
Get Rid of Lynette Nusbacher
This is a show that I've always enjoyed but I quit watching because of the regular appearances if the he/she Dr. Lynette Nusbacher.
Uncle Hitler (2009)
A Poorly Made Film
I agree with the previous reviewer that it was a poorly made film that could have been very good. It was actually a hodgepodge of interviews that were not properly identified. An excellent example of that was the talks with Eva Braun's sister Ilse. Nothing was mentioned that she had been dead since 1979. Like I said, the potential was there for a very interesting and informative presentation, but it was wasted.
The Sun Also Rises (1957)
A Great Classic
GWlightwizard gave a beautiful review and I agree completely with him. This film and the book are very close. As for the criticisms that the actors are too old for their roles - consider this - the characters they portray are actually in their 30s (not their 20s as some have stated). For instance, Ava Gardner was 35, her character in the book was 34. It's very good casting by putting in actors that are a bit older. The characters do seem a bit weary and older and are merely showing the effects of their lifestyle. Theirs is a post-WWI, world-weary, hard drinking life full of disillusionments and briefly fleeting joys. Read the book in conjunction with seeing this movie. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the parallels. It's also historically quite accurate for the period, plus a bit auto-biographical. Ernest Hemingway was and is one of the best. It shows in this movie and is great.
Change of Habit (1969)
Quite Realistic for that era
In addition to a dynamite cast, the plot line for the 60's era movie were actually right on. That was a time when a lot of experimenting with no Habits, social issues, etc. were happening in the wake of the Second Vatican Council. Lots of confusion, lots of social awareness, plus schisms in the attitudes towards change. I saw much of what was in this movie in some inner cities, such as Houston, so it felt like a flash from the past. Sure, there's a bit of fluff and Hollywood, but you'd be amazed how very real it is. Over 35 years later, there's still controversy over the changes and upheaval of the 60's and 70's in the Church. Enjoy the movie, see it as a blast from the past, and know that many important issues were covered that are still addressed today.
