Nomadland (2020)
Too American
I got the feeling that I need to be American to understand why the best picture Oscar but you can easily see the best actress and best direction Oscars throughout the film.
It highlights a bizarre community, at least to us, but they're still humans with the same emotions, motives and desires just different ways.
Frances McDormand does a great job. It's nice to see a female protagonist who is portraying her character as a human being with nothing to do with the clichés of femininity.
Despite being too American, it's still a very beautiful well written, acted and directed movie.
The Father (2020)
I don't understand
Unexpected! You don't see such things coming, you start watching and try to understand what's going on but then you figure out there's nothing to understand! This's literally the opposite of understanding, this's what disorientation and incomprehension looks like! The whole experience defies your need to understand, which beautifully, brilliantly and in the saddest of ways delivers what dementia means and feels like
An extremely well deserved 6 oscar nominations especially Sir Anthony Hopkins who couldn't be more demented!
Chinese Coffee (2000)
why do I relate to that?
It's a beautiful script
I think everyone can relate to it, not just struggling artists, it's really human, it's about what's going on inside of us
which explains why I get it but not fully comprehend it
