Through the Storm: Wei Ruolai's Riveting Tale in War of Faith
Set against the tumultuous backdrop of 1930s Shanghai, IQIYI's latest drama series *War of Faith* embarks on a gripping narrative journey that deftly intertwines political intrigue with personal drama. The series opens with Wei Ruolai, portrayed by the ever-capable Wang Yibo, as an ordinary employee at the Kuomintang Central Bank. His ascent through the ranks due to his exceptional abilities sets the stage for a tale of ambition, conflict, and transformation.
The pacing of *War of Faith* is commendable; it manages to maintain a brisk tempo without sacrificing the complexity of its storyline. Each episode builds upon the last, creating a compelling tapestry of events that leaves viewers eagerly anticipating the next twist. The narrative never lags, ensuring that the audience's intrigue is consistently piqued.
Wang Yibo's portrayal of Wei Ruolai is a standout aspect of the series. His nuanced performance captures the multifaceted nature of his character with precision. From the palpable disappointment and heartbreak felt during his rejection at the central bank to the raw, unfiltered grief displayed at the loss of his older brother, Yibo's range is on full display. His ability to convey the innocence of a newcomer in the political labyrinth, juxtaposed with the depth of his sorrow, is a testament to his acting prowess.
The series shines in its ability to humanize the political narrative through its characters. Yibo's Wei Ruolai is not just a pawn in the grand scheme of espionage and finance; he is a relatable figure whose personal growth and emotional journey are as integral to the story as the larger historical context. His interactions with other characters, particularly the senior advisor Shen Tu Nan and the enigmatic Shen Jin Zhen, add layers of complexity to his role.
In episodes 1 to 4, *War of Faith* has laid a solid foundation for what promises to be a riveting series. With its excellent pacing, intricate plot, and Yibo's standout performance, the drama is poised to be a memorable addition to the genre. As the series progresses, it will undoubtedly continue to explore the themes of loyalty, power, and the price of progress in a time of upheaval.
Episodes 5 & 6 of War of Faith were great! Wang Yibo's portrayal of Wei Ruolai's vulnerability was masterful, especially as he navigated his brother's dangerous legacy with palpable nervousness.
The plot twist with Ruolai entrusting the gold to Li Sheng Da, the traitor, was unexpected! And Captain Lin Qian Song's act of ignorance? Intriguing! Plus, Ruolai confiding in Shen Tunan adds layers to the suspense.
In conclusion, *War of Faith* is a must-watch for fans of historical dramas and those who appreciate nuanced character studies. Wang Yibo's portrayal of Wei Ruolai is a highlight, offering a layered performance that resonates with authenticity and emotional depth. The series promises to be an engaging journey through one of the most fascinating periods of Chinese history.

Hidden Blade: A Visually Stunning Noir Masterpiece with Superb Acting and Direction
If you're looking for a beautifully crafted movie with outstanding acting, then Hidden Blade is a must-watch. Directed by Cheng Er, this Chinese noir film is a visually stunning masterpiece that will leave you mesmerized.
One of the highlights of this movie is Wang Yibo's portrayal of Mr. Ye. His acting is superb and truly brings the character to life. In particular, his performance during the fight scenes with Tony Leung's character is impressive and intense. His confrontations with Eric Wang's character (Captain Wang) and Mori Hiroyuki's character (Watanabe) in the final scene are also executed perfectly, showcasing Wang Yibo's range as an actor.
Director Cheng Er's style of directing this movie is noteworthy as well. The artistic atmosphere he creates with the beautiful cinematography and attention to detail make Hidden Blade stand out from other films in its genre. Some viewers may find the timeline confusing, but I found it easy to follow and it added to the overall atmosphere of the movie.
Overall, Hidden Blade is a stunning movie that showcases the talents of its cast and director. If you're a fan of noir films or appreciate beautifully crafted movies, then Hidden Blade is definitely worth watching.
The Legendary Life of Queen Lau (2022)
Light and simply refreshing
This drama is highly recommended for those who are looking for a light and sweet drama. The story is very simple, about an arranged marriage between a young handsome emperor and the average looking but pure hearted daughter of seemly a scheming grand Chancellor. The two was in odds with each other at first but eventually they fell in love.
Despite of the low budget, this series is very entertaining because of the lightness. I'm very enjoying it.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
great visual effects
As the other marvel movies, this one also had a great visual effect.
Since all three Spidey was in this movie, I must say that Tom Holland is still my favorite.
The downside of this movie were some lines felt quite cringe-worthy and forced. Especially the conversation between the three Spidey and either any of them with MJ or Ned. But overall, this movie was very good.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Looking forward to the 4th!
I love it! The cgi, the acting. Fantastic Beasts really fulfil my imagination of a magical world. I hope in the next movie, the 4th one, there would more of the magical creatures. Eddie Redmayne acting is superb! He potrayed Newt Scamander perfectly.
The only thing that seemed to be irrelevant is Jacob Kowalski's character storyline..
I just can't understand the importance of this character on the story.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Please don't make the 2nd part of this movie 🙏🏼
It was so bad that when i saw the end credit scene "Shang-chi will return" i automatically begged that it won't.
Tony Leung and Michelle Yeoh were the only two things that good about this movie. Well them and the Water Dragon too.
Whoever responsible for casting Simu Liu and Ronny Chiang did a very bad job. Their acting was so awful. It was painful to see them on the movie.
Eternals (2021)
I had a very high expectation
I was very disappointed with this movie. The trailer seemed very promising and the casts line up were spectacular!
However, the movie was very boring 😴
It even feels like it was not a Marvel movie.
Such a waste of time.
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
Quite decent zombie series
Storywise, I like this series better than "Happiness" because the happy ending is not too forced.
However, in terms of the actors, especially the ML and FL, Happiness won. Both ML and the FL are so good looking and attractive in Happiness while on this "All of us are dead" are not as attractive as the other series.
Nevertheless, Hyeong syuk - Nam Ra are definitely my favorite characters here.
The zombies were also more realistic here than Happiness.
Another part that I feel very realistic was when they needed to go to the toilet. The fact that you're fighting the living dead doesn't make you immune to pooping and peeing!!
I hope there would be 2nd season bc I'm curious about Nam Ra story.
Pei Ni Dao Shi Jie Zhi Dian (2019)
eSport drama series which truly focus more on the eSport storyline
I have watched some other eSport theme dramas after watching Gank Your Heart. However, none of them leave much impression for me.
One of the reason is watching this drama was like reading a Japanese manga. It explore more on the eSport and the journey of the team to reach the top. It was quite realistic.
My most favorite characters here are Ji Xiangkong and Peixi. I hope there will be season 2 for this drama series.
Feng qi Luo Yang (2021)
Very intriguing and smart storyline
I honestly was feeling bored with typical C-dramas which lately always having the similar plot or story, especially in romance or costume drama and I almost gave up.
Luckily I found Louyang! The story line and plots are very different with other drama. It explore more on the investigation and mystery.
The cinematography and visual on this drama were truly a blessings for my eyes - so beautiful.
I also loves the costumes. They really can potrays the elements in Tang Dynasty accurately.
Of course my favorite character here is Baili Hongyi. He is so smart and witty!
One of the memorable scene was when Gao Bing Zhu asked how did Er Lang know to open the snake key and then he simply replied, "I'M BAILI HONGYI"
Awesome!!
Ghosts (2021)
Very fresh and brilliant!
I just finished watching all 13 episodes of season 1. I love it!! I started watching with a very little expectation but I must say that I didn't expect that this series is so good! I'm a big fan of "The Big Bang Theory" and since the series wrapped up, there weren't any comedy series that I can enjoy as much as big bang.
Until I find this series a few days ago!
I find that the story and the lines are so fresh and funny. I hope they will continue this to next season.
You Fei (2020)
Best Wuxia series of 2020
The production team seriously has done a very good job in adapting the novel into this Wuxua series. Especially the casting team.
They are geniuses!
Every actors fit into their roles perfectly.
I love the chemistry between Zhao Liying and Wang Yibo.
Tbh, at first, I was not a big fan of Zhao Liying (but I like her) at the past.
However, she is super fantastic and awesome on this series. Now I'm a big fan!
Wang Yibo, I have always been love him.
On Legend of Fei, his acting is superb!
I got carried away with the emotions that he portrays. When Xie Yun cried, I cried too. That is how good his acting is!!
The action scenes are amazing and meet my high expectations of an fanatic of Wuxia and Xianxia series.
A Fei and Xie Yun onscreen chemistry is top notch too! They are so natural. I can predict that I'm gonna keep rewatching this drama series again and again when it has completed later!!
Definitely one of the epic drama series of the century!
