The Nun (2018)
Scary but could have been even scarier.
I will say the nun is absolutely terrifying. The plot in general is a little scary but I feel like it's a little thin. The movie relies on loud jump scares with a terrifying nun. Not much else is that scary. It doesn't have the same scares as the other conjuring films, but I would watch it again. I don't get the 2 or 3 star ratings, it deserves at least a 6!
PROS: Creepy nun, decent jump scares, average acting, good camera work and nice special effects.
CONS: Thin plot, mediocre movie compared to other the conjuring films
I would suggest this movie, but it's not something I could re-watch a lot of times like the other films from the conjuring franchise.
Littlest Pet Shop: A World of Our Own (2017)
Cute show!
This show is meant for children under 10 but I am 18 and I enjoy this show so much! I might even like it a little bit better than the original Littlest Pet Shop series! The characters are kind of one dimensional but it doesn't bug me that much. The animation is really cute and the designs are pleasant to look at. The overall aesthetic of this show adds 3 stars for me. Some of the episodes have overused story lines but it's done in a way that makes it seem more original . I could go on for a few hours talking about how amazing this show is, it's just that good.
WRITING: 8.5/10
Plot: 9.5/10
Animation: 9/10
Cuteness: 10/10
Character personalities: 9/10
Aesthetic: 10/10
Character development: 6/10 (Sorry)
Overall: 9.1/10
Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures (2018)
Cute show with positive messages but not the same humor as it's predecessor.
I saw some reviews with some people saying it was weird and awkward that you could tell that they were dolls in barbie life in the dreamhouse, but I loved it! It's a parody of how barbie used to be. The messages were good but why did they have to get rid of that iconic, hilarious humor? I'll watch this show but it is no where near as enjoyable as barbie life in the dreamhouse.
Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch (2013)
I never understood why this show was so disliked, it's amazing!
I will say the animation is.. odd to say the least, but I never disliked it. It just takes some getting used to. The characters are quite wholesome and enjoyable to watch. The voice acting is pretty average for a kids show besides for random pauses. The show is so much more magical and enchanted than the other Sabrina series. I watched this 5 years ago and going back again and re-watching it I expected to not like it, but I absolutely loved it! I would highly suggest this show if you enjoy magical shows.
Tom and Jerry (2021)
Better than I expected.
I saw the critical reviews on this movie so I started to question if I should just wait for it to be on a streaming service, but I bit the bullet and went to the cinema to see it. The plot reminded me of a hallmark movie with better acting, but with the humor and classic characters. The plot was much, much, MUCH better than the average tom and jerry episode. I thought that I wouldn't be a fan of the animated characters in a live action setting, but it worked well! This movie isn't for everyone but I personally loved it.
Stephanie (2017)
how are the ratings so low?!
WARNING: spoilers
I watched this movie last week, thinking it would be bad due to the ratings of 5.8... nope. it was amazing. First the pros of this movie. It had a some jump scares that startled me, which I liked. It's the perfect amount of creepy at some parts. I tend to hope the animals live and hope they're happy even if they are a object, like francis. Sequel could be Stephanie: Francis Returns haha. It had an amazing plot twist, which I was not expecting at all (the one where it turns out Stephanie was causing the bad things) . Easily top 5 biggest plot twists I've seen in movies. The acting was also a lot better than I had expected. The plot was also really nice.
Now my one con. It made sense where stephanie was the one making the bad things happen, but why was she protecting herself when it was HER making the bad things happen? Why was she acting like it wasn't her when nobody was around? That didn't add up in my opinion.
Overall, an amazing movie that I strongly suggest.
Star Falls (2018)
It had potential
I think this is a HUGE step-down from Make It Pop, which is my all-time favorite series, and this seems to be Nick's attempt to bring back the hit show they had in 2015-2016, Make it Pop. I feel like this show had SO much potential to be great (and successful) but it got ruined. The plot is kinda all over the place, which deducts 1.5 points from this rating. My main problem was the god awful acting, ever since 2017 Nick has basically been choosing people that can memorize lines. They overact it SO much making a different facial expression every 10 words, which deducts 2 points. My final problem is the fact that the show just gets boring at times, I don't know how to describe it. Now the positives, the show is very wholesome, and feels like home almost. It is very relaxing also. Another positive is the fact that the plot isn't always all-over the place, and when it isn't the plot is amazing.
Really hoping Nick either says that it'c cancelled or renews it for a second season, it's not great but deserves a season 2. We can only hope for the best.
