They (2002)

Pretty Good Monster Flick...
20 November 2002
I thought that this movie was pretty good. It was pretty typical of any horror movie that has come out in the last 10 years but it was still pretty okay. If you enjoyed House on Haunted Hill (Remake) or Thir13en Ghosts (Remake) then you will probably like this movie. The beginning and the middle were the best the end was pretty much expected. Ethan Embry gave a very excellent performance as one of the people being stalked by "They" and the rest of the performances were fine but nothing special. There are mostly cheap jump out of your seat scares and no real suspense but the movie will still probably make you jump. The special effects are pretty good but luckily the only time that you get to see "They" it is pretty dark and this covers up most of the blemishes with the CG. I gave this a 9/10 -- typical horror film for 2002.

Have fun!! ^_^ Amanda

Very Excellent Made for TV Adaptation
18 November 2002
First off I should mention that I had never before seen an adaptation for The Hound of the Baskervilles before so I cannot compare to other films. I thought that this movie was very excellent. I saw a trailer for it today on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and I knew that I would have to stay up and watch it. I was totally not dissapointed. Richard Roxbough (Moulin Rouge!) plays Sherlock Holmes in this adaptation and he was wonderful. He had all the right moves for Sherlock and as always he acted excellently. I should also mention that for a made for TV film it appeared to have quite large production values which show throughout. The acting was great throughout and I can't remember one bad performance. I would recommend everyone to watch this film if you are looking for a good mystery.

Another Great Stephen King Miniseries
3 November 2002
Okay, when I first heard of this film I was quite skeptical. Although I had enjoyed other SK miniseries' I did not believe that anything could make the haunted house horror films good again. I, however, was totally wrong. This film is great, it had action and horror and the acting was surperb. Julian Sands was excellent as he always is and the others were good too. The only thing that I did not like was the little girl who "woke up" the house. I do not like child actors if only for the simple fact that very little of them can actually act, this girl was no exception. Other than that it was a great film.

The Gift (2000)

Breathtaking, Raimi's best work yet!
15 August 2001
Wow...this is possibly the greatest film of the year 2000. Sam Raimi has done his homework on this one melding together the suspense elements of his acclaimed Evil Dead Trilogy with the fantastic character development and passion of his mainstream hit A Simple Plan. Kate Blanchett does an amayzing preformance of a poor housewife who has "The Gift" and uses it to help the people in her community while her co-stars do realistic and heartfelt preformances. Although the plot may not be the best in Hollywood Raimi makes up for it with his incredible style and even though you may see the ending coming a mile away, the viewer feels compelled to stay and see how it turns out. You won't be disapointed by this wonderful and underrated film.

Great Acting, Good Script
15 August 2001
Okay so I've been hearing a lot of bad stuff in regards to this movie and I decided to check it out and I really don't see whats so bad about it. The acting was amayzing from everyone especially Bruce Campbell who plays the villian in the film and the story was very well done, it was one of the better action films I have seen, yes, it was most definetly modeled after the Die Hard type films but it has it's own unique style and grace which I really love! I would reccomend any action fan to check it out it's well worth it.

^_^ Have fun!! Amanda
