Spider-Man (2002)
1/10
This was good, no maybe okay at best
8 May 2002
I don't usually write something about of movie, unless it really bothers me. And in this case boy was i bothered. I never read the spider-man comic books or saw any of the cartoons, i mean I'm better than that. But back to the movie, for the fact the so many people went to see it on opening weekend,i expected that it would be amazing, boy i was wrong. Sure the orignal idea for spiderman was to have a loser kid transform into this amazingly freakish superhero, but why Toby. Not that I have anything wrong with him, he's still a good actor, but after you take the glasses off spiderman deserves to be cooler,James Franco, would have been better for godsakes. But back to the actual movie. I see everyone forgetting this movie by next summer. I feel the story was tragically flawed. The plot just really weak. The only time I was actually glad while watching this movie was when i saw Willem Dafoe, but most of the time he had a horribly ridiculous mask on. Nothing in the movie hopped out and hit me with amazement, even the graphic, they were good but it's nothing I havent seen before. Well to sum it up, the plot was predictable, the action lacked horribly, the graphics were par, and the best acting game into play in the form of Dafoe, with that ridiculous outfit. Overall i would like to tell everyone that its not worth the hype and i wished i waited for it on video. For those who say its the best comic book movie since Superman, you don't know your ass from your elbow. Both superman and batman, were far superior. I gave it a 6, just because i liked the opening theme song. Oh yea it was great seeing Macho Man again, he was so good in Ready to Rumble (If you can't pick on the sarcasm you are a fool)And you see this in the theater you are a fool too.

James Dean (2001 TV Movie)
7/10
Bit Off
5 August 2001
Warning: Spoilers
For any of us true James Dean fans obvious it was great to see the story of our icon. When watching this T.V. event it was just as easy to see the things that actually happened compared to the stuff TNT obviously made up.

THE FLAWS- a true James Dean historian as myself would know that the end meeting between Jim and his father never did happen. Another major part the movie never touched upon was his childhood life (9-18) with his aunt and uncle. The major part of James life they never touched upon was his bisexuality. The movie only slightly addresses the point indirectly. In real life he obviously going both ways were he was with both men and omen( even his first sexual experience was with a man, when he was a child in Indiana (which was also his priest)). THE GOODS- despite the flaws the movie also had parts that were true to life. The one seen when he was making Eden and he was working with Raymond Massey were he was told to kiss him was true. All the cars used in the movie were also true, along with the motorcycles he drove.

Tim Burton, Please Help Me, I'm Freaking Out Over Here!
31 July 2001
Warning: Spoilers
***SLIGHT SPOILERS*** Well, I'm not going to lie to you but, YES, I did enjoy this movie. The special affects were decent to good, the makeup was excellent, and the scenery had some room for improvement. Characters such as Thade(Roth), Attar(Duncan), and Ari(Carter) were mostly flawless, With my hat going off to Mr. Roth for his more than excellent portrayal of the "Ape General". Leo(Wahlberg) was well... about what I expected from Wahlberg (He was a better Dirk Diggler then Leo Davison), and Daena(Warren) was either to attractive for her part, or should have had more lines, (i may have enjoyed this movie more if her and her family were developed a little more) but whose to complain. This movie also laid good homage to the original '68 version, especially With Heston's small part as Thades father. No matter what others may say, Yes I liked the original just as much, however, i think the whole way the plot unfolded was definitely more complex then its predecessor. This version doesn't only question race(which it may or may not supposed to do), however it definitely questions religion and evolution more.

I'm not going to bore everyone reading this huge comment on plot summary, because you'll be able to read in in 99% of the other reviews on this movie.

On the other hand getting to the ending. Someone please tell me what Burton was thinking. Not that it was bad, but what does he want people to think happened. Some people say it was obvious that it was Earth all along, but could you be sure of it, I distinctly remember seeing two moons ( I even went to see the movie twice just to prove to myself that they were there) It couldn't be earth with 2 moons could it?? So maybe its not earth that they're on the whole time but, first of all where do they get horses, was that the only animal oiginally there? And how did Thade get to earth and lead a revolution? Does he brake out or is he lead out, and by himself find a way to do space travel to earth, somehow to lead a revolution of apes on earth?Who knows maybe When Leo passed through the electrical storm he passed between parallel universes, or dimensions. Does he even land back on earth? Maybe he lands back on the same planet in the future and they have similar statues to earth??? Am I just looking in to it to far. I wish Tim Burton would just give us a straight answer, Please oh Please, don't ruin it with sequels. Tim if your out there just tell me what you wanted everyone to think, because personally my mind is going in circles trying to pinpoint what the explanation, Hey maybe its just to be left open with the intention to drive us to think about it this much.

8.5/10 (It had some room for improvement, but it makes you think(For me way to much).)
